That's a very beautiful song with a perfect Emily's performance
Pascal...😉👍.
Hi Highly, it's Mick in the UK. I grew up listening to and buying all the Dusty Springfield singles. Even before that I bought The Springfields singles, a country trio Dusty was part of before going solo. I recommend anyone to have a listen to The Springfields' Island Of Dreams and Far Away Places which show the smoothness and creaminess of Dusty's voice, which was totally unique. They also had a US hit with Silver Threads And Golden Needles. You Don't Have To Say You Love Me was Dusty's only No.1 in the UK, an Italian song converted to English for the mass market. The song, like most of Dusty's recordings, had a full orchestral backing in a professional recording studio. Dusty was a good song and music arranger, but it was her unique voice that sold the songs. You wouldn't guess that Dusty was my favourite singer, would you??? I still love her voice, and she died far too young on 2nd. March, 1999, aged just 59. But life goes on, and now my favourite singer, by far, is Emily Linge. People have said that Emily will never be Dusty. Maybe not, but Emily is far more talented from a musical point of view. She has a gorgeous voice of her own. She arranges all her own music, records all her own songs in her own home studio, is a multi-instrumentalist, is multi-lingual and writes her own songs.. Not bad for a fifteen year old, but she has been doing this since she was eleven. Most of Emily's recordings are stripped-back, acoustic versions of the originals, but many have said that some of them are better than the originals. I would recommend everyone to check out Emily's RUclips channel with 163 songs to choose from, nearly as many as Dusty recorded in her whole career as a solo artist. Yes, I still love Dusty's music, but Emily is the future. So, thank you Highly, and thank you Brad for the suggestion. Take care, kind regards, Mick.
No one knows what Emily will become Mick but only a fool would bet against her. We see her constantly challenging herself and her musicianship growing by leaps and bounds. Meanwhile many of us already consider her our favorite artist. There is no one quite like her. Take care.
She is a star.
She did a nice job but you owe it to yourself to hear Dusty sing it
Pascal...😉👍.
Thanks Pascal. I agree, Highly’s reaction was very good. I was surprised that he didn’t know it, but he is much younger than us. Even with his extensive knowledge of music there are going to be a few he missed along the way. I don’t think this particular song was as popular in the USA as her other songs, and that might have something to do with it. Mick told me that she was his favorite singer until Emily.
A+ mon ami Brad . Pascal...😉.
Great reaction *HxC!* This performance was simply outstanding to say the least! It doesn't seem to matter what Emily sings; it just oodles with huge x-factor! She is a big star in the making!!
Great reaction Highly, even at 12 years old Emily could portray such emotions inappropriate song as if she had lived it ,such incredible talent 👏🌟🎶❤️
Absolutely Peter. She became my favorite the first time I heard her sing and she was barely 12.
Dusty was popular in the sixties. The original of this has a full orchestra behind her, strings, brass, etc. She had a couple hits you might have heard, ‘Son Of A Preacher Man’ was popular, or ‘I Only Want To Be With You’. This one that Em’s singing was popular too though. You’re right about one thing though, whether you know the song or not, Emily is the queen of being able to broadcast emotions, or to draw them out of you, as you said. Nice review bro.
It is gorgeous Brad, piano and voice. She had me with the intro and then the richness of the voice just floored me. Thanks for the request and Highly for the reaction.
@@clint6872 I agree Clint. She has become a virtuoso on the piano, and just amazes me every time she sits down to play something new. Her voice has always blown me away. It’s funny, but even now, almost 4 years later, when I watch her play I feel like the way Highly looked and reacted the first time he heard her sing (Adele’s Easy On Me.) Go watch his face, that’s how I feel.😊
Hi Brad, sorry for the late reply! I remember this song when I was going to school. It was a hit over here in Australia! As you say though; it does not matter if we know the song or not, when it comes to Emily. There have been many songs she does that I have never heard. Instantly hearing her sing them though, she seems to emanate a magical charm. She is a big talent! ☺
PS: I really hope Emily gets the opportunity to drop by and leave a comment.
@@clint6872Hi Clint! I can only 'ditto' your comment! Emily sure is incredible! As I said to Brad; she emanates a "magical charm!" ☺
BTW: Did you know I never receive any YT notification when you comment to my Reviews!? The problem only happens on Emily's channel. :(
@@steveh7216 Hi buddy, man it’s been a long time. I hope your mum’s doing OK, and you too of course.😊 Yes, Generally speaking, if I don’t know a song that she performs, I never ever go look at the original. I already know I am going to like her version better. I can do that based on the songs that I do know. No sense wasting my time.😁 I’ll shoot you a quick email after dinner. As far as Em coming, don’t hold your breath. Three years it hasn’t happened yet. I still don’t know if she has seen about 90% of the videos I have sent to Highly and others.
it's cute👻💝ок🌹
Belíssima! Adorei!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤
Indeed, I would strongly advice you to listen to the original song by Dusty Springfield to get the real feel for this song. This cover wasn't even close sorry to say. 🧡🇳🇱
Don't be sorry, everyone has a right to their preferences. I have Dusty's on a playlist and have listened to it countless times, beautiful vocals . Her voice was timeless and definitely Highly or anyone else should check it out. Emily replaces the orchestration with what can only be deemed a genius arrangement on that piano, from the first note I was captivated and the depth and richness in her voice then drew me in and didn't let me go. Again, as with Dusty, just beautiful. At fifteen this young lady's future is arriving in front of our eyes and I don't have a clue what her ceiling is, she constantly amazes me and I love that she brings new life to these old favorites. Take care.
Please see my main post above.
@@clint6872 Well said Clint. Of course there can be many artists perform an excellent cover in their own right. The thing here is, as you say, Emily is only 15 years old; PLUS it's just her and the piano live! That takes skill and pure talent. Also artists can simply try and mimic or copy the original, but Emily does it her own way. :)
@@michaelcollins4038 I'll jump in first Mick! I read your initial post and it made interesting reading. Yes Dusty was a great singer and was very unique. So too is Emily at 15 years old; and as you say; "Emily is the future". ☺
@@steveh7216😊
Dusty was a UK superstar in her day. She had a rich, bluesy and gritty voice. This cover is "sweet" but not close to the original.
Dusty wasn't a 15 year old also playing the piano, I agree Dusty was great but Emily is also impressive and brave to take on such an iconic song.
