Trump started the whole problem by slapping tariffs on European steel and China. These countries targeted American companies for retribution. They targeted Harley and Indian out of spite. Trump doesn't think about the effects of his tariffs. Wisconsin still voted for him.
The stupidity of it all is that they had it all out. They had clothing shops in the big shopping malls they had a big section of bikes like the sportsters the Dyna the soft tail the touring bikes. They had a massive team and family owned and operated businesses. They did renting and riding training for learning to ride. They even had deals that you could get a 883 evolution ride for 3 years then trade back on a new Dyna.

Long time Harley rider here. The MoCo has been screwing its customers for years. It's time they got screwed by their own shortsighted decisions! This EU tariff decision is going to really hurt them. The 2025 price increases are not going to go over very well either. I suspect the price increase is meant to incentivize customers to buy out the remaining 2024 bikes that are still filling dealer showrooms right now. If 2025 sales are not meeting goals later in 2025, we might get a price decrease on 2025 bikes later in the year - but given the MoCo's arrogance and misguided view of the market, I wouldn't count on that. I personally would never buy a Harley that is made in Thailand, and the RevMax bikes aren't selling very well here in the US anyway - so either (1) other customers either feel the same as I do, (2) the RevMax bikes just aren't scratching anyones' itch, or (3) they are priced too high for current market conditions. We don't get steel or Aluminum from Europe.. we get it from China. The European Union said that since HD is an America Company the Profits from bikes made in Tiawan still end up in the USA,
Harley Davidson has been closing up stores in my area, and I'm just outside of Chicago. A huge market. Not one of them announced a sale, discounts, or anything. The stock was absorbed by the surrounding, surviving dealers. Back when I was looking to buy, no dealers were dealing. Some had 2 years old units, unsold, with aftermarket bling. Not only did they want full sticker, they also wanted the markups for the junk parts. They didn't even bother with the Harley Davidson performance parts. That would have upped the prices even further. Unless they get a handle on their unscrupulous dealers, nothing will change, except the date on the calendar. And maybe loosing even more stores.
With the u.s. economy on shaky grounds for motor vehicles in general and higher interest rates for them, I see nothing but trouble ahead for HD. Especially after HD recently announced significant price hikes on its big touring models. I believe HD will be tested this year as weaker sales trip them up. Many dealers are still floating unsold ‘24 models.
I went my nearest HD dealer in December and they had (2) 2022 bikes, and (5) 2023 bikes.. And there was no way I was counting the 2024 stock, and I know they are getting 2025's in as we discuss..
Same thing is going to happen when Canada does the same thing with inacting a Trump 25% retaliatory tariff. Harley and Indian sales are going to dump here in Canada.
Just need a little math explanation. How does a jump from 6% to 31% tariff result in just $2200? Seems like with prices as they are, it should be an even higher dollar number. Are only certain parts being tariffed?
Thanks for watching and commenting. The $2200 figure was an average in 2018 for all bikes sold into the EU. Obviously some bikes at that time are less expensive and I would imagine the additional 25% tariff impact will be higher today. So we shall see what happens. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👍

Fact is that in Europe there is no price difference between US and Thailand produced bikes. This can however only be concluded from the (2023/2024) Touring bikes, as the other platforms still come from Thailand only. We will have to see what this lawsuit result running since 2021 will bring, and also what happens after "Jan 20th". The MY25 prices (six models known until now, Touring and Trikes) are not yet listed in Europe as opposed to in US already, probably after Jan 23rd when more MY25 models are released (Cruiser, Adventure, Sport, maybe more?). But tariffs never result in sudden price jumps, they will be divided in steps over the coming years. By the way the Street models were the first that came from Thailand to Europe, that was in 2015. These were made for Asia and Europe, for US (and Brasil?) these were made in US. These went out of production, in 2018 the (then new) Cruisers came to Europe, then 2020 Tourings, in 2021 the Adventure and Sportster.

BMW, Toyota, Airbus etc all learned long ago that if you want to sell your product in America, make it there. The EU is simply levelling the playing field ahead of what will likely to be coined Trump’s global trade war. Makes sense that he wants to bring Greenland, Canada and Mexico under his economic control. He needs the numbers. By the way most Japanese car manufacturers moved production to Thailand a hair either side of 2010. This will likely impact them as well.
Not sure how it’s gonna play out,but if they’re still going too pay high tariffs fee’s,might as well make them in the US,back in kansas city preferably 👍👍
Harley makes bikes in India as well the X350 & X500 & Harley Streets outside of US were made in India & not many people know.If you own a Harley Street in Australia or New Zealand or UK or EU the Street is made in India.HD tried to keep it quite.Also all Street 500-750 were to be made there but US Harley owners moaned & HD had to build a all new Factory just building Streets in the US😂🤣.Be interesting to see which factory made more reliable Street bikes India or US laugh if Indian made Street had less issues😂.I had a Royal Enfield & the Harley boy's teased me being Indian made & 1 of them had a Street 500 I laughed & pointed at Street & said "So is that Street😂.They all Nah & looked it up & got bummed out😂. Ausie & NZ has heaps of 500 Streets due to our Licensing System being restricted to 660cc. A big Harley Davidson costs 30-50k in NZ way overpriced in country with low wages.

So it boils down to Harley jumping the gun. They also reassured their employees they would not move production overseas and they did. Harley is in a real pickle right now. I feel like 2025 is a make or break for Harley. Could this be one reason why the 25 models have increased by up to 2 grand??? Harley needs to figure it out and quick. They need to bring back a good cheap evo style sportster for the young generation to get into. Harley is constantly shooting theirselves in the foot lately under this current CEO and board of idiot leftist directors.I don’t want to see them fail but they desperately need help and change.
Thanks for watching and adding to the conversation. It will be an interesting year for sure. Thanks for your continued support to the channel and ride safe. ✌️
Harley are catering to their demographic. Weekend riders with more money then sense. They have no interest in producing an entry level bike. They want to be a premium brand like Mercedes.

That’s true and that’s part of the problem. Harley can’t survive like that. That’s why their sales keep dropping every year, they bring nothing to the table for younger riders. They are creating their own downfall.
You mentioned the Kansas city plant....being closed, it's been closed for years. Ya tariffs suck for the people purchasing goods no matter what goods they are, the costs(tariffs)are not being paid by the manufacturing companies per se but passed on to the consumer to bear…not a good practice or model for the growth of companies into the future…sadly political pundits have a skewed perception of what is good for the economy of our country 😡

@Prometheus1979 👍
You mentioned the Kansas city plant....being closed, it's been closed for years. The dyna, vrod,and softail lines were produced there,I believe it was closed under matt levitich and he had built a plant in India also.... but I've been through every plant tour except tomahawk plant....keep up the good work.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Yes the plant closure was announced in 2018 as noted in the video. I appreciate you adding to the conversation. How much were the bikes in Europe when you were there?
Thanks for watching and commenting. I've been to Dealerships in Europe on multiple occasions. The prices as shown on the bikes typically are about 10 to 15% more than the MSRP of the same bike in the US. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👍
@@HDVIBE Was in Ecuador, had them double the price 30k for a Sporty
@machineman7806 wow. 👊
Does the EU treat Triumphs built in Thailand the same way?
The tariff noted in the video is for US deemed only motorcycles. Not sure if there is a tariff on other brands like this. 👊
The US started the tarrif war. Why would it affect Triumph?
Tariffs .The EU says If you want to play fuk around fuk we'll play fuk around fuk !

The EU will lose this fight.
@@brucem8129I’m not so sure. Apple came off second best with the USB C fight.

@@brucem8129 People buy HD because they think it makes them a biker bad ass. It doesn't. But I hear if you buy the new Pride Glide they will throw in rainbow tattoo. bwahahahahahaa

Loving these comments. No one said shit for four years when Biden maintained the highest steel tarrifs ever recorded, along with semiconductors, clothing, textiles, EVs, and on and on and on.
Youve had no issue the last 4 years with tarrifs.

HD: no longer the American Icon. Just another mc company. The market is saturated with too many HDs and the posers that buy them without regard for company heritage or concern for their unemployed fellow American assembler. F Jochen.
