@@acevedohiramdamn right. I drove my buddy’s tuned 8th gen. Super fun ride, revved to 8600. just had no where near as much punch as the 9th gen. I have fun revving out to 7800 alone
8th gen is the best Si ever made (excluding the EM1) and you'll see for yourself here shortly. It's the last Si with true full VTEC, sky high redline and with hondata it'll go up to 8700 RPM no problem. It has the best intake manifold ever made and it's aluminum and doesn't have that integrated exhaust manifold BS. I'm hella hyped you finally got one makes me miss my FG2 coupe even though the sedans look better.
@@longbrake0060from a 9th gen owner. The 8th gen will always be the better “drivers car” 9th gen is better for daily driving, I also think the interior is ALOT better but that’s just me. Looks wise and power wise, 8th gen takes it for sure
enjoy it stock, once you start modding the rabbit hole never stops with an 8th gen. swap out the cmc for an em2 unit, GM synchromesh tranny fluid, flashpro and a jug of oil in the back at all times
I had an 07 Si for about a decade - great reliable car , I had a full bolt on setup w/ TSX cams - Car made 232whp and was great - a few things to look out for - the 3rd gear synchro , upgrade the clutch master cylinder, most of the 8th gens had the paint recall for fading clear coat ( which I'm guessing is why this one has fresh paint on the hood), and some K20s like to drink about a quart of oil every 3000 miles - otherwise , its a rock solid purchase
Hell yeah! I also have an 08' in black.. although with a crap ton more miles. Hard to find a clean unmolested one especially in florida. Hella aftermarket stuff to make these things rip with basic bolt-ons. No matter how much you paid, its all worth it.
What a pick up man! Owned a pretty clapped 8th gen si for a short stint and was such a hoot, 4k rpm clutch dumps the whole way to work at 250k and it didn't break a sweat
Congrats on the FA5, but most especially the baby! My very first car was this exact spec.. down to the nighthawk black paint. That roadtrip must be tough. I recently drove 1000 miles to pick up my 2008 R32 but I couldn't wait to get back and see my girls. Enjoy it ~
You’re gonna love it, I have the same car but in 2 doors, 23k Miles. Only added Catback, CAI, and Hondata Reflash to get rid of the Rev Hang which is pretty annoying. Congrats on your 8th Gen.
The stock rev-hang on an 8th gen is nothing compared to my 10th gen. My 10th gen Si with rev-hang disabled probably feels like a stock 8th gens since it has a single mass flywheel.
one of your first mods besides the exhaust should be a updated cmc using either the hybrid racing em1 or updated honda oem cmc with a ss line. I would also recommend changing the trans fluid out for amsoil syncromesh. High rev lockout is inevitable with the stock cmc. Stock trans is much like the evo mr 6 speed, its like glass and will shred gears and or syncros. Just keep that in mind before beating the snot out of it. Yes the rev hang isnt terrible but noticeable. Stock z3's feel slow until the high power band but as others have mentioned, once you hookup a flashpro and change the vtec engagement to say 4500 rpm, its much more enjoyable. 6800 stock is too high in the range. For reference I have 2 8ths. A FA5 and an FG2. I also have a FC1 and i agree with your statements on 10th gens. Id much rather daily that and mod 8ths. Both have updated cmc and built transmissions. Makes a world of differance and confidence. The FA5 is FBO and tuned at 237whp. The FG2 was SC at 380whp until the oil pump said no more so now it is being built for 600ish whp on a turbo set up. Enjoy the FA! Learn its happy place in the rpm band. Its a big differance between a 9th or 10th gen as i assume you're realizing. 8th gens are some of the most fun civics to drive hard, they shine high in the rpms and love it. Congrats and cant wait for more content!
You are going to love that car. Honestly, its an absolute blast in the twisties. Took mine to the Dragon when I had it new all I added were summer tires, slotted rotors, Hawk HPS brake pads and DOT4 fluid and it was amazing...almost as much fun as my S2000 was on the Dragon.
Love it man!! Looks so clean! I have 10th gen Si and a 7th gen Si with a K20A2 collecting dust since I got my 10th gen. But this video is making me want to pull it back out man. Keep the good content coming brotha!
Aside from the synchros in second and 3rd being fully remedied by a gearbox rebuild and fluid, my only other complaint of the whole car oem, is the camber in the rear crowns tires at the speed of a lathe. I only got camber plates 14 years in. Ha ha. After the rebuild, with exedy stg1 it's truly the greatest gearbox/engine combo cheap side of a 996 GT3.
Vtec is your torque lol. Wait till you upgrade it and get to the point of a Frankenstein motor k20 top k24 bottom. It's a pocket rocket man!!! Upgrade upgrade!!! Best of luck Cam
Nice car, I remember my 07' 8th Gen, my first new car when I first moved to TX, it was a great car, kept it for about 7 yrs and put over 90k trouble free miles on it. I kept it mostly stock except for an intake and lowering springs. You'll definitely have fun modding it, enjoy!! 😊
Looks amazing man, this is my favorite gen Civic. That engine and tranny has it's charm for sure. I'm considering on getting one as a daily. You should get a nice intake for it to enhance that sweet induction sound, makes a huge difference. Also, it seems a bit slower than they are, maybe a good tune up, plugs, coils and intake along with some injector cleaner would do. Will be waiting for more videos man!
I wouldn't mod it too much. As I did with my 05 RSX-S. Took care of the exterior (PDR/Ceramic coat), restored the suspension, a slight drop. 17x8 wheels on 225s, delrin rack insert, extended ball joints and correct geometry tie rods and called it a day. Power just a shorty/ram so CARB approved and a Tanabe Medallion. They are what they are. If I want torque I'll buy a V8 again.
Love to see the 8th gen!!! I loved mine when I had it. When you do a different head unit, you will likely lose the use of the stock sub. It’s really annoying. Amazing car tho
Seikers is dope. Full race & plm v1 header on mine and it’s a solid setup. Not crazy loud like anything skunk 2. Id suggest cams & Hondata asap! You’re gonna need that extra torque if it’s your daily 😭 dropped tsx cams in mine and it’s a night and day difference, 6th gear is actually kinda fun with the cams
Lol this is what I did but I bought a 2001 toyota tacoma. I lived in ND & I was using offer up and Facebook market place to find the perfect truck. Flew to LA and bought the truck in Pasadena. Then I drove all the way back to North Dakota. Too me 3 days. This was February 2024 so it was cold but no issues . This truck is a champ 🏆 💯
Full race is not the exhaust if you want it loud. It gets louder as you rev higher. But not loud enough considering you had to get rid of your HKS exhaust on your BRZ. It’s on bassy side at low revs lacking a clear tone and have some drone at 4k. Also you don’t need the 3 inch diameter if you are not going forced induction route.
Looking forward to seeing what you do to this. I have a stock 07 Si that I want to do some things to. Not sure where to start, so def looking forward to seeing what you do.
