    Why does everyone only address the cartridges but fail to show how to remove the bubbler from the spray head to check for debris plugging it from properly working? Same for switching button on side for spray/single stream modes.

    Three pointers that I had to figure out with some issues with my American Standard "Symphony" kitchen faucet, Model 4505SSF:
    1) If the sprayer won't retract back to the neck, or gets stuck pulling it out, look under the sink for anything that might be hanging up the retractable hose, such as being caught on a pipe or water line or cleaning supplies under the sink. Also, it has a counterweight attached to the retracting line under the sink. If the line is free and clear and it's still a problem you may need to adjust that counterweight by moving it's position up or down on the retractable line.
    2) My sprayer toggle that switches between the spray setting (down position) and the solid stream setting (up toggle position) got "sloppy" where it wouldn't stay in the solid (up) position and it got to be a pain because it was always at least partly in spray mode, and it gets over-spray on you, the counter, etc. I tried cleaning the toggle switch with a brush, toothpick, a wood "orange stick" for nails, etc. and nothing helped, so was getting ready to go online in search of a replacement "head". Then, I decided that since I know I have really hard "limey" water it wouldn't hurt to try to try to clean it with CLR or Lime-away. Well, in less than five minutes of soaking the spray head in a little plastic bin with about a 1/2" of CLR and the spay toggle button face down in the CLR, I started working the toggle back and forth and all the sudden it started "clicking" into the top "solid spray" position again! Problem solved for now!
    3) Why I don't know, but most manufacturers don't stamp even their brand name, let alone the model number on most faucets anymore. For these, you have to climb under the sink with a flashlight and find the manufacturer's label on the water supply line which has the model number on it, if you're lucky enough for it to have not come off. Otherwise, their are some online sites that explain the differences in "splines" on the faucet connectors, etc. which plumbers use to determine the manufacturer if its not stamped on the plumb trim. (More information that I like having to delve into being a "chick"!!! ; =))) I mean .... SERIOUSLY! Why can't the dang manufacturers just put their company name on their products again!

    Just installed a new American Standard Faucet just like the one pictured. Replaced old as I had zero hot water pressure. Now with new faucet it's equally shit hot and cold.

    If I have low water pressure in cold & hot water can it be the cartridge? I know it not in the shut off valve. But I have taken the cartridge out put it back in , still low pressure on cold and hot

    The pull down lever(turns the water on) keeps falling off. It is attached by a tiny screw like thing that I cannot tighten enough.....any help is appreciated, as this problem doesn't seem to be addressed anywhere.

    Can the cartridge become clogged and crest a low hot water pressure? The cold is fine. I replaced my valves and cleaned up the pipe, screen is clean

      What do u mean replaced your valves? The cartridge? The cartridge can become clogged or stuck. This would cause a lack of hot or cold water or low pressure. Also if you have shut off valves behind the faucet, BOTH valves must be on to give full pressure

    A reminder: Always cover the sink drains when removing faucet items with small screws. Don't learn the hard way.

    2 Questions:
    1. What was the problem?
    2. How much would the average plumber charge on labor not including the part they mark-up probably 10x be?

    • @PlumbingPartsPro
      @PlumbingPartsPro  4 года назад

      The faucet was dripping. The labor rates can vary depending on where you live but the average labor rate is $140.00 per hour. I have seen as low as $90 and as high as $250

    I have an American standard that's brand new and the pressure is Soo low. The contractor said that they're making a "water saving " faucets now ...is this true because there's just no way that the pressure is like this

    • @PlumbingPartsPro
      @PlumbingPartsPro  4 года назад

      Technically yes. All manufacturers of faucets and toilets are required to limit the amount of water coming through them. However it should not be a greatly noticeable difference while just washing hands and rinsing dishes.
      1. Make sure there are no kinked lines. I had counter tops installed and re-used my 8 month old faucet and the installer kinked the copper tube.
      2. Make sure the angle valves underneath are turned on all the way.
      3. If there is a removable screen, take it off and clean out any debris or the water saver feature and re-install.(I have a video on water pressure)
      4. If the faucet has a spray hose, there is a diverter valve (transfer valve) that switches the water from the spout to the hose. This may be stuck.
      Try these things and let me know. send me the model of faucet and I can help.
      If its truly BRAND NEW. Return it for a replacement
