I will never forget the way my mother danced whenever this was played...she was a good dancer, but she saved her best moves for this song! She danced like she didn't have a worry or a care...this song made her so happy!

Yo young Bro. Jr. Walker & The All-Stars were Motown Party Funkers in the 60's/early 70's. Loads of hits. Run "What Does It Take (To Win Your Love)" when you get a chance, which shows they could take the vibe down a bit. "Shake & Fingerpop" probably is my favorite Walker/All-Stars jam though. Too tuff. Btw Steve Winwood's "Roll With It" is an 80's version of Roadrunner. Keep gettin' after it.

When you you were looking for words to describe Roadunner at 4:35 I found the ideal term “In the Pocket Groove”. At 4:44 When you were wondering who did “Shotgun” b/c it sounded like Roadrunner, I was waiting for your reaction as you were googling it. Priceless look on your face. Any R&B sax player would list Jr. Walker as an influence. Autry DeWalt, as a child, used to walk all over his hometown of Blytheville, Arkansas. That’s how he got the name Junior Walker!

A lot of people associated this song with the Plymouth Roadrunner automobile. What many didn't know was this song was released first (1966). The car didn't go into production until 1968.

Growing up in Detroit, my Grandma who babysat us while my Mom worked would play all of the Motown artists all day. Another really great jam they recorded was Shotgun and What Does It Take, Give a listen; these cats could jam..

Great track. Checkout their 1968 blockbuster "What does it take to win your love" it was their first million seller. Jnr refused to record the song at first claiming it wasnt his thing. It was part written by Johnny Bristol who later had a massive hit both sides of the pond with "Hang on in there baby". He also rote love me for a reason that was a massive hit for The Osmonds.
