PAA has become my favorite soap. I have The Beach and Chocolate Bourbon and they both make me happy every time. Dense lather, slick as can be and a great post shave. Awesome products and the company has unbeatable inventory and customer service.
For those that are interested in the scent: this is, to my nose, a woody oriental with a very slight powdery note. Comparable to Bois du Portugal by Creed. If you enjoy this or scents such as Heritage Eau de Parfum by Guerlain I think you will love this.
Zac “Frum” Florida greatly enjoys your videos! Blackland razors are worth the $$$ and it seems like Doug & Fran have really hit the spot with their new CK-6 base. Have a great weekend & Thanks.
John Frum shave soap For those that don’t know, I’m in the process of reviewing all manor of shaving soaps and creams across the market. Hi Kevy- Great shave and soap review today; thank you! The Dart razor looks great and the PAA CK-6 formula is fantastic, as well! I hope your weekend has been going well and all the best!
When I finally decide on a Blackland, I honestly can't choose on which to buy. The Blackbird is sleek, black, and eye catching. But the Dart's handle appeals to my sense of functionality. I suppose the only solution is to wait, and then buy both. I have nothing negative to say about these gorgeous razors. It appears that your skin had a reaction to the splash. Red splotches of hives were beginning to appear at the exact spot you remarked on feeling a tingle. I wouldn't recommend further use of the splash. I would surely contact "Douglas" on this issue. The soap lathered admirably. I found that Ginger's Garden vegetal base lathers well, and handles copious mounts of water too. The splash did put a damper on an otherwise beautifully efficient session. Well done, my friend. I look forward to the next episode. Best regards to Shona, and Riley.
Decisions decisions! 😬 I did get a little tingle on the cheeks but it went pretty quick after that although they were a little red. I'll need to test it out once more to see how it reacts. The soap base is something else. Really good. I think the Perma sharp was the wrong choice in the Dart for this shave. Cheers. Kevy 😀
Sweet shave Kevy💈💈 I've had that razor since they came out last year, way more aggressive than I like. Doug really knows his stuff, PAA has super products. The new formula is over the top. Another great video and review as always👍 Enjoy!
Great shave kev. Nice score with that soap!...Noice! The nose knows - Fran and Doug have two of the best in the biz. The couple of PAA soaps I've bought from Con here in Oz have been remarkably lush and protective with killer scents.
Cheers Mark. If you haven't already, you really should try this Ck-6 formula, it will knock your socks off with the performance and post shave feel. Cheers. Kevy 👍
Good morning Kevy! I am super interested in the PAA CK-6 formula and I am interested in a musk scent. So, you really got my attention bringing this John Frum offering and a shave with the Blackland Dart. I am rather impressed with the lathering qualities of the CK-6 base and your scent description answer a few questions for me. The Blackland Dart razor is so efficient, but has the ability to bite...and bite hard. I think I use more care with it than the Muhle R41. Honestly, I don't know which gives the closer shave...both deliver a 30+ hours of BBS in the post shave and both draw blood equally well. I think I would like the John Frum aftershave. I have the PAA Atomic Bay Rum and it is some of the best bay rum aftershave ever. Thanks for your thoughts Kevy! Take care.
Hi Todd. Honestly, this is one of the best soap bases I've tried. A beautiful rich lather, cushion and glide and the post shave feel is amazing. Cheers. Kevy 😀👍
Awesome video as always! I own that razor and love it. PAA makes awesome soap and after seeing your reaction and Paul H’s reaction to the scent, I will be placing an order next weekend.
Hello Kevy, Great shave. The lather looked really good. I think I'm finally getting mine to come out much better. Yes, the plan is to go to the Big Shave since it's in my home state. Sorry you won't be able to make it.
Nice shave Kevy. I had an excellent shave today, and with one of the best blades I've tried so far in my Rockwell 6S, the blade was Gillette Nacet. I got a small pack of them (25) off eBay. Very impressed with them, and I think if I continue to like them I'll invest in 100 of them. A sharp but smooth blade, very impressed with them.
Great shave, Kevy! When I saw the video title, I thought you might like PAA CK-6 formula. I was able to try it for a week through a passaround over at DFS. I really enjoyed this soap base! The one I tried was Black Label, which is a dupe of Christian Dior's Sauvage. I never smelled the original, but loved the PAA Black Label. And, so did Mrs. Blade4vor! 😎
Love the looks of that razor (and especially like the brass version). But, that price! Whew! It'll be awhile before I can rationalize that one. As always, thanks much for sharing. Steve
Great shave, Kevy! I have 4 CK-6 soaps from PAA and they are fantastic. Though their non CK-6 soaps perform very well too. PAAs aftershaves also last a long time.
I'm not sure when it's going to be live on the site. Should be soon hopefully. It is a great razor. I think I chose the wrong blade to put in it today. Cheers. Kevy 👍
Great shave Kevy, how did Douglas sneak the splash through customs?. One of our fellow shave brothers in Chicago was going to send me the doppelganger gray set & we wondered how to get the splash through.
Thanks Kevy, that soap is a definite on my list!! Regarding the razor, had a look on their site and they have some nice ones there, pricey mind! I bought the Rockwell 6S which I use every day, but I'm still keen to get the Karve. I normally shave with No.4 on the Rockwell, would you consider the No. 3 plate on the Karve to be equivalent thereabouts to the former?? I ask because obviously Karve only comes with one plate etc. Thanks for video!
Hi Keith. If I remember, the Karve with the C plate was around the same as the 5 plate on the 6S. Which plate are you getting with your Karve? You can buy extra plates for it when you purchase it. Cheers. Kevy 😀👍
Kevy Shaves I'll probably get the C Plate then, if that's the closest to the No.4 on the Rockwell. Just thought it was better to get the right one first and save the cost and hassle of having to order another one:-)

I think it's a case of keep trying different blades in this razor. The last shave I had using a Perma sharp in the dart was p I think, the wrong blade choice for my skin, too sharp. So.eone suggested trying a Personna lab blue so I'll do that the next time. Also, you need to take your time using the Dart. Once you find the right blade, I'm sure it will shave you well. Stick with ot. I love mine, it's a beautiful razor. Kevy 👍
You have me highly interested in purchasing this soap for my 1st wet shave soap. But, unless I'm not holding my tongue right, I'm not finding it available.

I even tried loading the brush a little more to no avail, still faded. Any advice to a newbie to DE shaving of 3-4 months?
Thanks Peter. Sounds from your description that you maybe added too much water to the lather. What kind of brush did you use. Sometimes a new boar or badger brush can eat the lather and make it very thin. Was it Truefitt and Hill hard soap or was it their cream?
@@kevyshaves4109 Hi Kevy, thanks for the reply. Brush I used was an Omega boar, same as usual. I soaked and shook out the water before lathering, as usual. The T&H is a hard soap that I left with a little water on the top for a little while to bloom then poured away. The brush is well broken in and very soft.
Maybe the brush needs a clean. Just use regular hair shampoo and conditioner like you would wash your own hair. I've heard others saying that thenT&H hard soap does that. I can't say as I've never used it. Maybe try it with a synthetic brush if you have one and see if it's any better. Kevy 😀👍

Impossible :(( Great that Fran & Doug ship internationally. You for sure miss a lot not being able to come to the Big Shave.
