When I used my first own PAA soap few weeks ago, I have read on it "load the brush 10 seconds" i didn't believe it and loaded over 15 maybe 20 seconds... Man, i could have shaved my whole family 😂
    Great soaps!!
Great shave Kevy! Thanks for sharing!

Great shave. More than 150 shaves on just one blade is an insane number. I don't know how the blade was able to hold it up to that number, but I may never know. When I spoke to Sgrdddy and asked if the blade was dulling, he said that the blade hasn't showed any signs of tugging and pulling, but at some point it might and that'll end a world record number of shaves on just one DE blade. Have a great day

Hey Kevy! I'm the one who's running that Nacet into the ground! Last night was my 172nd shave with it. I started with it in August of last year for "Austere August", where some of us used the same gear all month. It was my first time using a blade more than 15 times or so. I am trying to hit 200 shaves at the end of this August, the Nacet's anniversary month.
I do have a goatee, but I have a big noggin, so my shave area might actually be near average.
I have had to switch to more aggressive razors as the blade has aged, but the only secret is that I try to have really slick lathers and continue to use good technique.
My current razor that is handling the Nacet is my Timeless .68 OC, which is normally a little to aggressive for me. But with this smooth Nacet, I'm getting close, comfortable shaves.
I do plan on retiring the blade when I get bad shaves from it. But I'm pushing it this far just out of sheer curiosity.
I also like Derby blades, and like you, I've seen many online who dislike them. But for me, they are a reasonably-well-performing budget blade.
And the Tech is wonderful little marvel in my opinion too. Shaves so well, and I love putting different Maggards handles on my Tech head.
Lastly, I'd like to say that I really appreciate your channel, and I've seen many of your vids. I've been a subscriber on your channel for a while, and I subscribe to very few. I love it when I am searching youtube for a certain razor or soap to do some research and I see one of your vids in the result. I know I'll get good info about it.
(BTW, "sgrdddy" is a shortened form, because the name was taken, of "sugardaddy")
Keep up the good work, man! And thanks for the mention!

Hey Sugar! Nice to hear from you. I take my hat off to you for sticking with the same blade for all those shaves. I've seen you before on RUclips but there's so many videos to try to keep up with. I've subbed to,your channel now to see how the Nacet fares in the coming weeks, months, years. Nacets are actually my favourite blade at the moment. Thanks for your kind words about my vids. Cheers. Kevy 👍

    Nice Video! Always loved.
If no-one has budget issues then the best blade ranking would be as follows:
1- Feather (R89, DE89, 34C, feather All stainless Steel razor)
2- Gillette Platinum (All above Razors plus Muhle R41)
3- Astra (Same as second row razors).
There are so many other good blades but above have been consistent performer ever single time.

When we had 2 or 3 soaps in the den, that was the first day of shaving this way. Rapid escalation from their on in. I find the Derby’s works fine for me, so the Usta is one to try. Lovely razor and PAA working a treat as normal.

Great shave, Kevy. I have a couple of fat handle techs and use them now and then. They are mild but great shavers. The John Frum is good stuff.
I've watched that channel a few times, sgrdddy-shaves, the last one posted is 169 shaves and he has used the same side of the blade. He said when it wears out, he'll turn it over and see if there is any edge left.
I struggle to get 4 shaves from a blade (I get bored and want a new blade).
Have a great and safe week!

Nice one Kevy, I got five excellent shaves from one Derby Usta in five different razors, A tech, Yaqi DOC, Rockwell 6C, Fatboy & Muhle R41. It was so smooth on the third shave in the Rockwell I had to check I'd loaded the blade. It's a great all round performer and this is from a guy who would rather grow a beard than use a Derby Extra.

Finally had a chance to try PAA’s John Frum CK-6 soap. It is a wonderful scent... actually pretty complex... a lot of things going on there. But overall, I found it to be a very clean smell with a little musk, but subtle. I also tried PAA’s Ice pre-shave soap (not everyone likes menthol), but the combination of these two and PAA’s Mysterium Serum at the end... was one refreshing shave experience (along with the Rockwell 6S R2 with Nacet blade). No irritation at all. Very silky skin feel afterwards. Another great video, Kevy. I so enjoy your videos!

Kevy, you have done countless "firsts" since this channel's inception. But of all the wet shaving hosts out there, I've never seen a finger nail's scraping of soap used to do a full 3 passer with pickups and a face wash! Please pardon the hyperbole, but that's some amazing shit! The Tech was richly chosen. It was the proper mildness to test an unknown blade. I would have acted similarly in your shoes. I've never used the USTA, so naturally I'm curious enough to order a tuft or two. Ample feedback today! I am excited about the annual meetup this Sunday! I wish I was able to attend. I'm afraid scheduling is once again prohibiting me from shaking your hand. I look forward to meeting you, Chops, Ian Thomson, Titty Biscuit, Shavey Davey, and anyone else you consider friends. Once again I hope you will be able to capture some footage while there. I saw the cucumber Thayer's, but did you find your lavender? The 30mm knot really surprised me in its performance. I thought the sheer size of it would be a hindrance to building an efficient lather using so little soap. I was proven wrong. Please have a productive week, dear friend. I hope Dundee continues to have ample sunshine, and a cool breeze to comfort all mail carriers. We'll speak soon. As always, my warmest regards to your wonderful Mrs. and the precocious Riley.

Haha! At the time of this post, I see two thumbs down.
We know its you two Doug and Fran!
    😆
With the PAA's CK-6 soaps i find that 10-12 swirls of a damp 26mm knot brush will gather enough soap in the bristles to generate lather for 3-5 passes.Good shave Kevy.
FYI, John Frum has the solid cologne option that you can use if you like the scent. (Hawaiian Sandalwood, musk and peppers) It is amazingly good.

Good evening Kevy! Yes, the Derby blades usta be something else...possibly Premium Derby Blades. My Turkish stinks, but I think (and confirmed by Google translate) that usta=master. The those are Derby Master blades. Interesting. I have some Derby Extra blades that left something to be desired...like cutting the whiskers instead of just my face. How is that even possible? Looks like the Usta/Master blade works much better. PAA soaps are good. I say that as someone who prefers Tallow based shaving soaps. The PAA CK-6 formula is a great performer. I like the John Frum scent in the soap and Aftershave. I am not sure others like it though. Oh, sugardaddy shaves...I am sure the coating on that Nacet blade has long since worn off and that is why it is tuggy...surface tension and all that. However, it is still cutting. You can clearly hear it cut his videos and that is the amazing part. I am all for using a blade until it becomes unsatisfactory. Sometimes blades last only 2 shaves and other times they last 22 shaves. It really depends. Most blades last from 4 to 8 shaves. I just don't think I will see 170 shaves on any one DE blade. The Gillette Tech razor is mild. I have a pre-war Fat Handle. It shave great. Works best with 2 or more days of beard growth. Great looking and sounding shave. Fred's sundial won't work indoors though. Thank you for sharing.

These particular Derby Usta are decent, the other: older green box blades are horrible for me--I only use them in a shavette and one use to the garbage. 150+ Nacet is amazing, he only shaves 1/2 face (long sideburns and gotee)and I think he tolerates hair tugging.... Nice vid Kevy.

One quick tip with Gillette Tech razors: if one desires a more aggressive shave , simply "shimmy" it by loosening it between 1\8-1\4 rotation. This will open up the blade exposure, thus, providing a more efficient shave.

What's matter, Fred? can't afford an air conditioning in your bathroom, because, you can afford to buy 100 blades of cheap Derby Usta blades. Ya poor sweaty bastard.

Usta be called something else? In the name of Nessie & St. Andrew, are you becoming American, or what? In good conscience, I've got to put in a good word for the Bakelite Handle Tech (my favorite, among the Techs, FWIW). (Woops, shoulda said gotta here. Consistency, above all.) BTW, please say hi to Fred Flintstone for me. He seems to be ever gazing down on the proceedings in befuddled amazement. Tell him his sundial is running a little slow (not to mention not being on Summer Time.) Regards. (P.s.: tell Fred he needs a shave, jeepers.)

I'll do that Ed. I think his timepiece needs some new dino-batteries!

Not all that long ago I did not have a Gillette Tech or gold tone razor. I solved both issues by acquiring a 1954 Ball End Tech and then some months later a Fat Handle Tech now here's the thing. I discovered there is a nickle plated version(which at first wasn't that big of a deal since I have numerous silver colored razors)in which the major difference are the drain slots on the bottom plate. One version has slightly triangular slots as opposed to oblong slots. One version, is supposedly, pre WW II while the other is 1946 and beyond. I want to again kill 2 birds with one stone and acquire a triangular slot silver tone Tech and that will complete my collection as far as Gillette Techs are concerned. BTW, Tell Fred Mr Slate called> He's late for work and FIRED!!! :P :D

I'll be sure to let Fred know! That's an interesting story about the Tech bottom plates, I didn't know about that. Cheers for the info. Kevy 👍
