There's just no contest is there. The 5Dm4 absolutely blows the iPhone away in nearly every respect.

Very interesting to see the side by side comparisons, I'm surprised how good the iPhone photos hold up to the 5d! I do find that the iPhone photos do have a slightly overprocessed look to them and as you said the backgrounds do look very digital

Nicely put together Kai! I feel it is a battle that the 5D MKIV was set up to lose right from the beginning (specifically referring to video). The iPhone 14 is very new tech and even at the time of release, the 5D IVs video wasn't exactly worth raving about. A comparison I would love to see though is the iPhone video versus a Canon EOS R camera.
I have lugged the 5D Mark IV around for years, but the full size RAW photos from the iPhone 14 Pro Max are absolutely beautiful. I use Lightroom to process them on the iPhone (or iPad or iMac) and the ease-of-use combined with the outstanding quality makes me lean toward using my iPhone more often these days. The iPhone’s Action mode is great to stabilize my videos, too.
A great perspective here! The phones have a little way to go … but they are catching up quickly - it’s scary and exciting all at the same time 🤩😨😅
I've used Canon 5D mark IV and 70- 200 lens and I loved the results. Hoping purchase my first camera this year.

Phones are getting better each day and are ALWAYS with you, so the convenience factor is right there. I have the 5D mk IV and an iPhone 11 (the most basic one) and like you say, for quickly posting and even small edits, the phone wins, don't have to download, process (again, just small edits), export, etc. Small screen like on another phone or social media, again the phone wins. Now for large printouts, there's not even a race... 5D hands down... I also I do videos for personal use and for those I prefer the iPhone... mainly, I'm no pro, so the other than knowing a few essentials such as selecting my preferred fps or whether I do 4k or 1080p, the phone does a good job for me of making a stabilized and really automated video in relation to all specs that you would need to manually choose in the camera. The other thing that to is a bummer, maybe it's my lack of knowledge or that I don't use external mics with the 5D (need to take care of that I guess) but I always get the noise of the lenses focusing which to me makes the film unusable for other than just fun.

I yet use smartphone (4 yo at that) for content creation. Surely camera are interesting, but price and mobility are better weapons for smartphones
As a traditional camera shooter I personally feel more comfortable with a camera in my hand. But I have to say, using the iphone 14 pro the last few months, I'm amazed how quickly the technology is catching up, especially as my last phone was the iPhone XS Max 😬
@@KaiCreative I'd really like a camera to create my videos and more but I have to admit that other than going up to 1,5k $ there are quite a lot limitations about camera, under 1k $ cameras
1) missing the in-camera colour correction
2) weight
3) mobility to create certain angles
4) good software
5) big screen to see the image recording
I perfectly know that you can correct 1) making video editing on pc software, but it's like redo again what you yet filmed for.
2) & 3) are not relatively s problem if you create a setup or you plan something big , bit more often some angles are better for smartphones. About gimbals is a side talking
5) can be corrected with external device but it means more weight and money
6) time to video recording
7) hardware to elaborate the shots
I even made some substitute with cheap action cameras (not the same I know), but the real issue is: why buy a camera?
Even a medium money smartphone of 4 years ago can be used easily, comfortable and enough details, a recent one is even better. I tried my mother one and it was simply amusing seeing what I was able to see available easily and comfortable. The real issue should be the audio, but still.. camera are the same, they need external audio recording support.
iPhone (late ones even more) are good but too much expensive.
But smartphone let me (even if ai still prefer to use my notebook) to film and create immediately the video on the smartphone/tablet itself.
7) points is quite an issue, before changing my notebook I was quite on an edge with simply smartphone and action cam, but even when supposed to be lent a camera or think to buy one I have to think : can I use the shots if my notebook /desktop has not enough power?
Would I still like a camera? Yes, surely.
Do I really need a camera? Probably
Can I afford a camera? Smartphone always with me and multi usage
Take note that I film miniatures mainly, so "easy"subjects and not problems about lights (do no low lights or extreme other options eventually) and I post on socials like RUclips where compression ruins eventually high quality filmages.
It can be easily thought such lines as a grumping man not having enough money. Still... With smartphone I have been able to create the contents, enjoy and share.
Surely if I want to raise my baseline it's a nice thing to buy a camera, but... How much many does it cost before surpassing recent released smartphones those give similar results? Cause RAW is common to smartphones too and a camera require manu more accessories too to add to its base cost.
All of these things, cameras, phones, are tools 🛠 if you’re tool works for what you want to do then carry on 💪💪🙏🙏

Shooting IP14 in "Vibrant" mode (12mp) is not the same as shooting in ProRaw which gives you the 48mp capability. What is the point of this comparison? You're not even using the iPhone to its full capability.
