    I'd support removing some of these like the astrodelphis, mana, shadowmane, tek stryder from official PVP, but there is no good reason to remove them from PVE. If you don't like them... don't tame them. So often it seems like official PVP is why we PVE'ers can't have nice things. 😂

    6. Liopleurdon, either increase the buff or just make it a permanent tame like all the others.
    4. Purlovia, remove the stun effect and then I properbly would not mind them being in the game so much.
    3. Electrophorus, give them a passive slow biotoxin generation up to a full stack, or give them a saddle or even both.
    1. Ichthyornis, only let it steal 1 food item at a time (And not a whole stack) and if they eat your Narcotic or Narcoberries, then they get tranqed the same amount, as if you fed it to them. I think objections to the creatures on the list fall into just a few categories:
    1. Doesn't "fit" in Ark (dolphin, Stryder, Mek).
    2. Overpowered/unbalanced
    (Managarmr, Shadowmane, Mek, Dolphin, Stryder).
    3. Useless
    (Liopleurodon, Electrophorus, Purlovia, Insect Swarm)
    Categories 2 and 3 can be SOLVED relatively easily.
    - Nerf Manas against humans
    - MASSIVELY nerf the wildly OP and unbalanced Shadowmane
    - Make the Liopleurodon have a USEFUL buff
    - Give Electrophorus useful abilities, like generating electricity when fed fish
    - Make purlovia useful, somehow
    - Icthyornis are SUPER useful for taming. HOWEVER, they take valuable stuff and destroy it. If WC just made it so they couldn't steal and destroy irreplaceable items, it would make them bearable. They could, for instance, make them DROP the item out of your inventory onto the ground, or store it in their inventory so that the item was retrievable. Or only allow certain items to be stolen. Why they made them worse than pegos is beyond me.

      @Ebuka Okeke it's not an issue for people like yourself that enjoy them, more power to you. What I'm saying is the developers should have put more thought into it before they released it as such an OP tame to begin with. One of the biggest draws to ark in my opinion is the diversity of the creatures in the game, have 1 creature that replaces the former #1s across several niches in game is just blatant bad game design. To simplify the devs dumb down their own game when they add stuff like the shadowmane.

    • @ebukarthur
      @ebukarthur Год назад +2

      @@kintyjtheaardvark5549 I see what you're saying but I still think the shadowmanes and the other op creatures added to the list are perfectly fine. If you notice the genesis 2 creatures added to this list where mainly due to pvp complaints because of how op it is and I understand wher they are coming from but they have to consider that ark is not a battle royal game that needs constant balancing or atleast if they are going to do that it should only be done on official pvp servers rather than the whole game. If the shadowmane, astrodelphis and stryder were released like 3 or 4 years ago I would also agree that the are to OP and ruin the game but as of release last year when ark was theoretically supposed to be phased out and have people move to ark 2, I think it was perfectly fine to add op creatures afterall genesis 2 was supposed to be the endgame of ark 1 so it's only natural to have more op creatures in the ending of them game.

  • @AndrewSmith-to4ij
    @AndrewSmith-to4ij Год назад +8

    I still wouldn’t want any creatures removed, but thinking about it now, I DO think Astrodelphis should be hard-locked to Gen 2 maps only. I think that would remove the need to balance or nerf them any more. Perhaps that would resolve the OP factor of Stryders and maintain the importance of other farming tames for other maps. 🤔 just an idea, but I don’t think I’ve heard this mentioned anywhere before.
    At the same time other creatures should be added to other maps from day one. Maewing added to at least the island, bog spider added to Ab etc etc.

All these creatures fit in the Ark lore in one way or another. They can be countered if you know what you are doing. However, my Richard (Xbox wouldn't let me name him Dick) has proven to be quite useful. I don't actually worry about the wild ones on the beach if I have Richard on my shoulder, he'll hit them when they hit me and worse case I chuck him in the air and he'll massacre them all while I putter about the beach. He has proven his worth when I find myself in sticky situations where I WANT a fish but am too scared of what's waiting for me to go get one, maybe even in an unfamiliar part of the map.

    I mainly play on private servers with friends so I fortunately didn't have to deal with all the broken PvP dinos. But I can say that the Ichtyornis is one of the few dinos we deleted from server. Them eating entire stacks of narcotics in a singe attack was the most annoying thing ever and it didn't help that they were pretty much everywhere on the beach (unless they nerfed that down the line).
    The Eel, Badger, Jellyfish and etc are annoying but at least they keep me on my toes and keep the game feeling threatening even at endgame.
    Another honorable mention would be the Leedsichthys, as they pretty much killed house boats in Ark which was something I enjoyed making.

    This list is so surprising to me! I get why the PvP community would vote this way, but for PvE and SP, these don't matter as much.
    Whoever the hell said Astrodelphis is nuts! That Starwing Saddle is way fun and perfect for taming Voidwyrms! Level one for movement speed and weight, and they can chase drops all day long with ease, even deep sea! I never use Managarmr, but they are fun as heck. Shadowmane is my primary mount for traversal, caving (if it fits), and now most bosses. Strider makes sense. I could take it or leave it. Liopleurodon doesn't matter at all. Tamed it for the trophy and that was it. Mek vs Alpha King Titan is epic and fun. Purlovias could easily go. I forget they exist sometimes, until they knock me out. Electrophorus belong in the sea, which is already boring enough and lacks diversity. I can't believe the Ammonite isn't on this list. Maybe just because everyone literally forgot they exist. Insect Swarms are such a minor inconvenience that they really don't matter. Just whack them with a torch. Ichtyornis are so niche in their function but still useful, and they just suck when they snag your best 600% Longneck and its gone. Not even recoverable like the Pegomastax. That would fix a small bit of the issue with them.
    Also, excellent reference with the Seagulls, Stop It Now! They always poking me in the coconut!
    Great content as always, Raasclark! Thank you! I could talk about Ark all day.

    I totally agree with you on icthy. I hated this guy until I realised its buff was so useful. Now it’s one of my first tames as a means of speed taming otters and also getting prime fish for moschops or imprints. True, once you’re max levelled there are other ways to do this but if you think of it as arriving on the first map at a time when everyone was a beginner, these critters had way more utility. Another consideration is how many creatures have lost their value since the kibble rework. There was a time when you needed x to tame y to tame z etc but now seeing as there are many ways to obtain a kibble type that tames a variety of critters, some, like another example the titanboa, have no real taming value in game.

  • @BLiNNeMaNS
    @BLiNNeMaNS Год назад

    Ichty bird is one of the best early game tames.. they bring fish for taming otters/hesperornis, you can harvest the fish for prime fish meat or do the same with dodos for prime meat.
    problem is they are a bit too squishy for tranq arrows so you can usually only tame one mid game with a rifle + tranq darts.
    hitting it low leveled usually results in a dead bird instead.
    Maybe it just needs a bit of a TLC update instead. (slightly smaller on shoulder, bit more hp to tranq with stone, bit lower spawnweight, not destroying stolen stuff)

If they steal narcotics from your inventory they will pass out would be an interesting way to tame them, and would be a good defense. Came here expecting to see ichthys, microraptors and pegos, because I'm a PvE player and I don't expect to see useful creatures identified as OP. When I saw those, I started to be concerned that Thylas would make the list and that would have been unfortunate because I would have needed sedation.

    Hot take: Megalodon. At least as currently implemented. In our contemporary popular culture, Great White Sharks are high up in our conception (accurate or no) of "cool, dangerous apex predators".. In Ark, Megalodon's are just irritating sea trash. A mass of irritants you have to chew through in innumerable piles of them to do anything you want to do underwater. Not genuinely scary, just a chore. Because there's too many of them. 20 times more megs in the ocean per cubic meter than Rexes on land. There should be fewer of them and they should be, individually, scarier.

But people didn't vote say Cindara, a creature that cannot be tamed yet may cause more damage and frustration than the eel? Or the Onyc that's only purpose is to give mega rabies? And hating the new creatures that overtook the utility of other creatures is nuts, change is inevitable and without it this game would have been left on the shelf years ago, looking at the time saver that is the Tek Styder. I agree with removing all the OP PVP creatures mentioned. The annoying PVE creatures I don't have a problem with, they can all be dealt with with experience and knowledge. Eel: use a bary or basi, Ichthyornis: leave berries in 0 slot, purlovia: whistle your mount to protect you and wear armor. PVE hazard dinos just add to the survival aspect which the game lacks for the most part.

  • @Marine5D
    @Marine5D Год назад

    This list starts with some OP creatures which is a bit too harsh to say they should be removed. I would say i agree with you on Liopleurodon, they should make it a regular creature at this point, because everything changed so much over time that it lost it's importance. Make it poorman's Basilosaurus. I also agree that tamed Purlovia is pretty usless without the ability to ride it, although i don't mind it's ability to ambush. Microraptor to me is much more annoying than Purlovia. I think that Cnidaria should just go, because it makes almost all water creature worse by even existing. You can't reliably use anything else for water caves except Basilosaurus and Tusoteuthis. In my mind the cost of having Cnidaria in the game is much greater than benefits. Next grape is about dinos which have the ability to steal stuff. That ability is really annoying while i don't mind creatures itself, but i guess without that ability those creatures looses their reason to exist in the game. Maybe change them so wild ones only steal berries or something.. I have to mention that Rhyniognatha made Quetzal obsolete in almost every aspect, except maybe platform saddle. At least make Quetzal fast again..
    Edit.: almost forgot about Troodons. While being mild nuisance when wild, if you ever had a "pleasure" of taming one, you quickly realized that it's pretty useless. So it kinda has it's purpose in the game but only as some bonus danger when wild, but as a tame ..well maybe just get a pack of raptors instead - way easier tame and can do more stuff. Very similar to Troodons are Hyaenodons - hassle to tame, not very useful.

  • @dominikbeimfohr3770
    @dominikbeimfohr3770 Год назад

    I can't say anything about PvP, but i think for PvE they shouldn't be removed. As some comments already said everybody should be allowed to play like they want. But just to say "just don't tame them" is not good solution ether.
    It's like saying here enjoy a backed potat and then expect them to let the cak on the table untuched.
    The biggest problem i see is that some of the op creatures are too early and/or too easy to tame and kill diversity.
    For example every time i plan to build something gigantic (i need round about 600 000 metal for the foundation of my aktuell project.) i think just hop over to Genisys and tame a Stryder. In my opinion is the Karkinos a good example for a better way to make things easier. I still need other creatures to farm but have an esyer (and more fun) Time to collect the stuff i need.
    My idea to change the Stryder would be to buff other tames in an area and collect the resources from them in near proximity. In that way your old farming tames don't become useless but you had still moste of the benefits.
    By think's like the Ichthyosis i can just say it sucks to get yuor stuff stollen an have no way to retrieve or prevent is.
    My Chang: Don't let them eat non consumables, let them take them to a nearby nest wher you could collect it. It would still be annoying but not as much.
    And i think small annoyances are important to keep your guard up. Even if they don't achieve more than make you fear certain areas.
    With the op tames that only do damage like the Magna i don't have much problems. In PvP they can be banned and in PvE I don't see much difference in how you can kill everything. An Agentavis can kill much, a flock brings the night opon your enemies. Therazinos can schred Most things. Wyvern can burn down most maps twice over. Hell, somebody tryed out what a swam of Dimorphodon can kill? Ther are plenty of ways to kill in ARK. It's just different flavors.
    One creature i don't like and would not cry for is the Mawing. It just can too much at once. It effectively removes an komplett Mechanik. And is an incredible traveling Mount. And makes every other taming easyer and faster.
    Again it kills diversity. We could have three creatures instead of just one. Or make older creatures more useful throu new abilities. I think that would be a better way to go.

    Id rather see a reballence to other tames than see any of them gone or nerfed. Like the space dolphin is offset by the fact you beed to do quite a bit end game wise to even make its saddle. For the amount of work it takes to get to the level requirement for the saddle i would accept nothing less than a yop of the foodchain level tame. Shadowmanes not needing a saddle makes them a little too easy to get access too but at the same time a throw away trash level one is a newer players best bet for survival against more established players with access to things like manas. The meks are part of the actual lore its almost like people forget this hals always been a scifi game and tek has always been something that existed in the lore. Another thing people are forgetting is that if you remove a good chunk of those tames we go back to which tribe has the stronger gigas for a neta

    In regards to the spirit of the conversation. Voting aside. I think the real problem here is cross ark transferring of creatures. It’s been a thing since Rag and Scorched Earth. People would bring Wyverns to The Island and it was GG for every other tribe. It was just a race to raise high level Wyverns. End of story. For PVP at the very least creatures should be restricted to the maps the come from, and if you want to use those creatures use them on the maps they were intended for. PVE is a different conversation. Unless you’re on a sever with a toxic alpha tribe that camps resources and spawns and prevents other tribes from progressing by killing off everything and taking all the resources before anyone else can get them. Whatever creatures you want to use should be fine. A Skif and a Strider are gonna save you a lot of time for resource farming when you’re just trying to get the materials you need to get set up, start farming for blue prints, taming, breeding, and fighting bosses. It’s kind of the same problem GTA V had when they introduced Oppressors. The high tech stuff needs to stay where the high tech stuff belongs.
    Hot Take but there are much better PvP games than Ark and it’s a PVE game at it’s core. I’d rather play Single Player or on a private cluster with friends than play Official in any setting and the most popular ark youtubers must agree because they do the same thing.
