I love Hey Jealousy. It’s one of those songs that will never get old. “If you don’t expect too much from me, you might not be let down” should be the official slogan for 2020/2021
What makes the GB great is that they are just a solid rock band and they would have fit in any decade...meaning they would have been a great band in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s not many bands would have worked in every decade.
I saw these guys back in like '08 in Nashville. Went behind the venue after the show and met Robin . We got to talking and he asked to borrow my lighter to light a cigarette. Smoking a cig with him was so cool. Just a chill, dope guy. Anyway, I still have that lighter lol. I actually met him two times, the first was at a show in Louisville, KY back on their reunion tour with Sponge, Seven Mary Three, and The Spin Doctors. I had a physical photo and got him to sign my Dusted CD. Too bad I lost them :(. Still love the band to this day.
Love these stripped down versions. Robin's voice has always been my favourite voice in music but his vocals on Fake Plastic Trees are astounding...goosebumps.
@@tpep55 Yes and no. The singer here is Robin Wilson, who's been with the band since 1988 and sang lead on all the "New Miserable Experience" tracks except one, "Cheatin'." Doug Hopkins was the band's lead guitar player (and one of the co-founders of the band in 1987). The original leader singer (for one year in 1987, before switching to guitar) was Jesse Valenzuela.
Wish you guys would come over to Scotland...have your stuff on constantly in the car, and my 12-yr-old daughter is learning how to play guitar by listening and playing along to Congrats, I’m Sorry.......cheers....
Brilliant. Great to hear Face The Dark and Competition Smile. Hope you guys can fit in a UK tour at some point, we'd LOVE to see you over here. Been way too long!
Del Montes at Long Wong's long wong ago. I hope to get out of the POS nursing home I'm in to see them the next time they're in Illinois and see how they look "almost" as older than I do in person... Until then "thanks for the memories" guys... I was just last night remembering the time they played at Blarney Island on Fox lake. I had hung around there when I was a kid, hadn't been back in in 40 years until I saw them and wept like a baby. When Jesse saw me he told me about an old song - "Stand Up and Cry Like A Man"... I think of that every time I cry. I can still stand but I need a walker now. FREE advice for you youngsters; Don't get old and take care of your health because you just might live longer than you think... & and &, BE GOOD to your kids, you might be totally dependent on them IF and when you get old, Don, aka "Charlie Del Monte". Proudly dubbed that by Jesse.
Congratulations to the audio engineer, it sounds amazing! The cover of Radiohead very very good! (the voice is a little high, but it is for radio, all good). Greetings from Mexico.
I saw them live in Boston the very next day (13th) after this was streamed. They were awesome like always and blew the crowd away with the Radiohead cover. Well done Guys.
First time I’ve seen Robin pick up a guitar. I’ve even net searched for something he’s played on. I must say the sound mix is excellent, Robin’s voice and instruments come through with awesome clarity.
Isn’t their history that he and Doug Hopkins were the original guitar players and Jesse was the singer? I think he and Jesse when they do their harmonies and hands down the best singing duo of the 90’s.
I just saw you guys In Idaho! Thanks so much for being there. Everyone loved it! You sounded great! I drove all the way from Boise, Idaho to see you! Huge fan from Idaho!
I used to try to eat chicken wings in a very small bar called Long Wong's in the old days when this guy's were playing, some of the 30 people in the place kept hitting my elbows.
Wow! Now that's a killer version of Fake Plastic Trees. Robin really owned the vocal and did it as if the Gin Blossoms had written it instead of Radiohead.
RIP doug hopkins co-founder and songwriter
RIP Doug Hopkins. Thanks for the music.
I love Hey Jealousy. It’s one of those songs that will never get old.

Robin Wilson's voice is unreal

AIC would also fit that category.
I always liked how his crystal clear vocals sounded in front of the distorted electric guitars

Still love the band to this day.
IF THEY DONT PLAY HEY JEALOUSY AT MY FUNERAL, THEN IM NOT DYING. 😂
if they dont play Hey Jealousy at your funeral, then i'm not attending.
lol
for sure, amazing song
I can't watch this band without thinking of Doug Hopkins and how he should be enjoying the the success that he created.
I can definitely relate.
I love, love, love the Gin Blossoms...and the acoustic set up really just displays how exceptionally fine they are.
I miss this band...90s d best
indeed! 90s for the win!
"We emulate the style, a competition smile..." ~ one of my favorites
Love these stripped down versions. Robin's voice has always been my favourite voice in music but his vocals on Fake Plastic Trees are astounding...goosebumps.
There is nothing I can say that breaks new ground, but I will tell you this, I loved this band!
+Arnie McGraw "doesn't break new ground"??? they were one of the founding bands of alternative rock
Holly shit! This guy still having this amazing voice despite the pass of time!
Not the original singer. Doug Hopkins committed suicide

@@richardstephan4337 Thanks, I was wondering who was who in this band. Are their any original band members left in this video?
@@tpep55I have the NME album and Robin sings lead on most of it.

He plays some in concert. I have seen them live several times.

There is a reason these hacks never had any real success after they unintentionally helped kill the only talented member 😤
Agust 2020 Covid 19
Alton Brown is a pretty decent singer
Bandon!!
Geez, I thought the lead singer passed away as long while ago.
