I just found your channel and subscribed. I love your dress! I’m commenting to say I was shocked to learn your age! I’m 58 and I thought you were much younger than me! …like 40’s! Whatever you’re doing, it’s working! Lol 😆 ❤
The pocket hack is awesome😄. I luv when pockets are sewn into the seam.. its just so much better to keep them in place... total incentive to sew this now.. have it cut out but didn't get to it last year..I think cutting the bias neck binding had me a bit perturbed with the fabric I had.. so that could be now be resolved with cutting on a "non-bias" strip instead 😊
Have been watching YT videos re: M7969. I had wondered about wrapping front bodice pieces a little more for better fit. Your review confirmed what I intend to do when I make this pattern. Also, so very happy you included pockets and I really like your method for making and inserting them. By far your review was the most helpful I've seen so far. Only one YT channel poster I've found said that she wouldn't make again. However, she tends to hacks patterns to death, gets frustrated and then pans the pattern when it has nothing to do with the pattern - only the seamstress. Thanks for your review, Stephanie!!! Oh! Thanks for also confirming that the neckline bias binding doesn't need to be cut on the bias because it's interfaced. Wondered that, too!
I was shocked when you said you were in your 60's....I'm sitting here watching you video and thought this WHOLE time that you were probably in your ...30's.......YES I DID... I took a jolt I tell ya. anyway, I love your hacks..I have the same problem with the one I made. Looks way too fluffy. I haven't even worn mine out yet because of it. I am getting my elastic out asap and do that to mine. I really think that will make all the difference in the world. Thank you so much.
I appreciate all your comments about your bodyshape fit because I have the same as your and sometimes it’s quite a challange. Love your tips and tricks.
The timing for this is perfect! I bought this pattern a few weeks ago then thought I wasn’t going through with it because of my Apple shape. Thanks for the tips! I am making now for sure!
Great tips and review. Sometimes I think they should make patterns to fit our shapes , like Apple, Pear, coke bottle, straight. Sure would fit better. :)
Extending the pockets to tuck into the waistline seam - what a genius idea. I wasn't a fan of this pattern when I made it, but I also made changes and ended up passing it along to daughter #3 - who looks amazing in it. The elastic waist is also a great idea. xoxoxoxoxoxox
Great fabrics that look beautiful on you! Enjoyed your explanation on the pattern and making the dress. Gave me some new ideas! Thanks for showing this. 🤗
Thank you for this great tutorial!! I’m not really into wearing dresses, but I do like your dress and now I have the bug to make this pattern. It looks so good on you!
Great review and lots of hints and tips there, thank you. My pattern still remains unused as I'm just not sure whether it will suit me 😅. You are definitely making me want to sew it up though 🤔. Pockets into the waistband... just marvellous 👏🏼😘
Oh my gosh Stephanie, we have the same fabric for your first dress 😅 I also love this fabric but I don't have this pattern as it ran out in my JoAnn 😔 but I'll find other patterns that I'm sure this will look nice with. Ty for sharing! 🤗
I love your fabric! This pattern was free from Minerva during the #sewfrugal22 challenge. I had trouble with the sizing and found it very unflattering on me. It emphasized my belly so I never wear it. It looks great on you and on everybody else though. 🤷
Great tip with the elastic, Stephanie! Thanks. 😊 I’ve never had a pattern where the bias strips called for interfacing. Wonder why it needs it if cut on the bias?
Would using interfacing for knits lose the stretch? I don’t know. I’ve used it before, but I really don’t remember. I was using it on a button placket. Thanks for the pocket tip. I’ll be using it for sure. ❤your videos. You’re so happy. I’m in Northern California too. Sew sisters. Lol.
Hello Cali Sister!! Yes, I do think a knit interfacing would allow you to keep the properties of the bias. Let me know how that works. I totally could have done that. 🤷🏼♀️ Hugs ❤
Please put your hair behind your shoulders when you are showing us what you have made. You beautiful hair hides most of the bodice, and when the bodice is the topic you’re discussing, we cannot see it. Also, please include closeups when you model your clothes. I love your channel and you have so much to teach, so please let us see better!
I love your idea of the wide elastic at the waist.
It is a lovely dress. FUN FUN FUN!
Thank you ❤❤❤
Great dresses looking good thanks for the info and the video
Thanks Robyn! Hugs ❤
I love both dresses. I'm 70 and like you, if it's not comfy I'm not wearing it! I will be trying that pocket hack.
I love that elastic tip!
Thanks Linda! Hugs ❤
from mrs: great makes, great mods.
Thank you! ❤❤❤
I did the same with this dress but with thinner elastic ...may I say you look amazing for 63 .and i am not someone who give compliments easily.
Hi DD, I do love wearing this dress. Thank you so much for the compliment! 🥰
It is my absolute pleasure 🙏...

Love the addition of pockets, thanks for the tip. Yes definitely going to make this ❤️👍

Hi Cathleen, Id love to see your dress. The elastic will make all the difference! ❤️
Stephanie, thank you for your video. You have given me the inspiration to make this dress for me.
So happy you did this, I have this pattern out on my table waiting to select the right fabric from my stash ..Thanks Stephanie.
Good luck Cindy! Let me know how it turns out.

I appreciate all your comments about your bodyshape fit because I have the same as your and sometimes it’s quite a challange. Love your tips and tricks.
Lol. Thanks Johanne. Glad to know that I’m not alone in that. Hugs ❤
Love both your dresses and the hacks! Great tutorial review!!
Thanks Pamela! ❤
The timing for this is perfect! I bought this pattern a few weeks ago then thought I wasn’t going through with it because of my Apple shape. Thanks for the tips! I am making now for sure!

Great review! Almost has me wanting to try a big 4 again ;)
Love the fabric on both dresses. And yes to shortening the dark one. It looks so fresh and modern on you.
Thank you! I agree!

Thanks Sarah! ❤❤❤
Thank you for this great tutorial!! I’m not really into wearing dresses, but I do like your dress and now I have the bug to make this pattern. It looks so good on you!
Hi Andrea, it was a different shape for me. Lol, it seems like most of my dresses look the same, so it was fun.

Hi Carole, it might not be my best silhouette, but i😢 was fun to make something different.
Hugs ❤
Love both your dresses. This pattern has been on my to do list a long time now. Hope to get one made up fir the spring.
Good luck! Hugs ❤
Just watched this and subscribed - you are delightful! Love-love the fabric. Would you mind sharing where you got it? Thanks!

Maybe you can still get it for free from Minerva
Hi Roya, I love that fabric. Whatever you make with it will be lovely!! Hugs ❤
@@FarrellFocus you what I noticed as soon as I got the fabric out of my fabric stash? It was ONLY 2 yards 😳 🥴😫😭
@@Veemerica Hi, I meant the Mccalls pattern, I got that fabric from a local fabric store 😅
@@royajahani1 Aw…oh well, enough for a cute top!! 👏🏻

Hi Veronique, I get it. It’s not my normal go to silhouette. For the resins you mentioned.
Hugs ❤

There's special interfacing with stretch. Just depends what you use.
@@Veemerica …That’s the interfacing I was referring to. So I wonder if that type would have worked.
Hello Cali Sister!!
Yes, I do think a knit interfacing would allow you to keep the properties of the bias. Let me know how that works. I totally could have done that. 🤷🏼♀️
