    The thing I'm always so impressed by is your precision with sewing. All the corners are crisp, all the edges are perfect. And thank you so very much for the rabbit hole I just went down looking for Claire Shaeffer's book and the Islander Sewing Method. No purchases as yet but the seed is planted and now that will be rattling around in my brain for the foreseeable future. Great. Stop putting these ideas in my head! Probably I'll pull the trigger the next time I get in trouble. Which, btw, although I would never wish having to tear out seams on any sewing friend, I'm glad I'm not the only one! Looking forward to the Atelier coming soon - yet another beautiful thing that will come from your sewing room -

    Beautiful shirt, Gini! 🤩 The pins in the yoke story cracked me up! I sewed a point turner inside a pouch, once! 😂💜

    Hi, I enjoy your sewing channel. You provide a lot of great instruction. Do you plan to do more "sew alongs"?

    • @thebigsewalong
      @thebigsewalong  3 года назад

      Yes definitely just taking a short break from them while I sort out what to do for fall. If there’s something you’d like to see I’d welcome the suggestion!

    Islander Sewing has a RUclips channel and shows the burrito method. The Every Bodies shirt has a great explanation of that technique.

    I have never been a fan of any burrito method; probably because I can’t visualize it, so I do something wrong. I struggle with the method. So, I love this shirt; I would just do my standard collar band and collar method. I too would want the extra length. I bet it would be cute to add about 6-8 inches! Thank you for the review!

    Hi Gini, can you please explain the difference between “scuba knit”, “scuba neoprene knit”, double knit and ponti knit? I prefer knits that are thicker and not as “slinky” as jerseys. Thank you!

    I do the safety pin thing too, but I got in the habit of putting it on the right side of the fabric. That makes it accessible after sewing. I realize that it would cause great confusion (possibly a few near disasters) to change your method now, but just an idea. Also, would it work to make the cottage shirt with just the collar stand and not the collar? Would the collar stand need to be hack in any way?

    • @thebigsewalong
      @thebigsewalong  3 года назад

      You could definitely do the shirt with just the band and no collar. No hack necessary, just leave the collar off. You know, I’ve thought about changing to the right side of the fabric a million times but I’ve been doing it on the wrong side so long I just know I’d forget! I might try it anyway as I’m not a big fan of having safety pins permanently attached to my garments 😂

      Thanks Robyn! Yes I crochet my top I just finished it last week so trying to get some wear out of it before we head into fall weather!
