This is basically like telling women how to dress if they don't want to be assaulted... maybe we can stop blaming the victim here? Sure, anytime someone is attacked there's some way they could have prevented it, but at the end of the day the only person you can criticize is the entitled assholes doing the attacking in the first place.
Yeah I was shocked how he‘s talking about Nintendo in this video. It’s their good right to remove emulators etc… it‘s their property so why should it be okay for them to gain access for free to their games?
I think the fact that Blaziken and Latias being one Pokémon originally is the most interesting thing about the leak. That they split the two up, one becoming the final evolution for the fire starter and the other becoming a pair legendary Pokémon is pretty cool.
@@cheeo2 yeah, ive never heard of it getting beyond that concept. it being put in to sprite form means it got further into development than i would have thought before the design split.
Shesez: "These things should not be leaked. It's not good for these things to get out without permission." Also Shesez: (displays some stuff that was leaked)
The leaks were interesting at first, but now it just feels gross. Imagine getting hacked at work and losing everything. They ruined this guy’s life… for what? I’m a fan, but I genuinely don’t need to know everything.
I'm with ya - It would be really nice if developers would show concept art, beta assets, and openly talk about cut content. That kinda went away with the PS360 era, save for a couple gems like Ninja Theory and Remedy. Ill always remember playing through the beta builds in the deluxe editions of Roundabout and Lococycle. Was so cool and interesting! For something pre release like Wolverine, I get it - people on the internet are silly and look at beta footage as if it's the real game - but post release? Come onnnn Mad respect for spending time making this. Was really interesting, well spoken, a great take and a perfect response to that weirdo on X. Ballsy move showing so much though. Actually laughed when Dolphin popped up as the cherry on top. Glad i caught this while i can! Cheers man
@@GaminylGames It would be nice but at some point you have to respect other people’s privacy. At the end of the day everyone on the development team are human beings. They probably have sketches and writing that are still in their own personal collections. This isn’t a government institution where as a citizen you have a right to transparency. It’s a video game.
6:00 On that note, one of the things that disappoints me personally with the unfortunate passing of Satoru Iwata (it’s sad for a number of reasons but I’m listing one thing that I’ve thought a lot since then), is that there’s no easily publicly available record of even some of his code for games. I love to program and want to get into the video games industry. Can you imagine how amazing it would’ve been to have seen even some of just his methodology and how he structured his code? Can you imagine how amazing that would be for a programmer to be inspired by their favorite game’s code? Don’t get me wrong it’s also sad we don’t get beta art and beta music, and I’d love to see and hear those too, but we never get to see beta code or even finished code by legitimate means. Even decompiled code has to manually have all the variables renamed to what they actually do to make it easier to read.
I'm not really sure where this attitude has come from where people feel entitled to have access to things that companies/artists/people don't want you to have. It's THEIR'S, they can do what THEY want with it. If they don't want to share it, deal with it. Also, if others infringe on their patents, copyrights etc, then they are well within their right to use the law. It's the law.
the problem with that last part is how much of a grey area it intentionally is that they are attacking. to go as far as saying "emulation is 100% illegal forever" on official pages they own and thats not true at all. then there is the Palworld thing where they specifically filed a patent AFTER Palworld came out and once they patent went through, THEN went to sue. outright lies about the law and being shady as fuck with a very late patent, goes beyond protecting their IP. edit: i thought about it and i think i can answer where the attitude is coming from. a lot of people who grew up with these company's games want to know MORE of their history before they die and nobody is getting younger and then there are some companies that just delete their history forever. and the other want to see it is due to how just about every single other company in any medium has some kind of viewable history of the behind-the-scenes. i think it would be FAR less of a sticking point if they threw us a bone once in a while, like how some big CG animtion movie studios show some of that stuff once in while instead of locking it away forever while talking about how they have so much unseen history.
Nintendo doesn't like to release these secrets because they don't want their styles and methods being emulated. We already know how Nintendo feels about emulation.
Yeah weird situation. Bad action done to bad company. I just wish they employee name was blacked out. Nintendo would still know but this is gunna follow that guy forever.
@@Squidmoto3 what they did was malicious. The fact that they didn’t bother to protect individuals private information is disgusting. Attack the company if you want, but leave the employees (especially past employees) out of it.
About half of what was leaked has been removed by ShoPro today, including cropped Pokemon, beta sprites, concept art, and gameplay videos. And Nintendo has issued DMCA notices for this and the other big Pokemon leaks of previous years. It's still sad that this ended so suddenly.
I feel terrible for the employee who accidentally got phished. That person's career may be over now, and they (presumably) did nothing wrong, in the sense that they likely had nothing to do with Nintendo's draconian corporate decisions, the profit-driven protection of their IPs over what is good for gaming or ethical in general, the selfish hoarding of historical materials relevant to humanity as a whole, or anything else. I hope that they aren't made to suffer from this happening, but I know that for a company like Nintendo, them being forgiven may be very unlikely.
One of the most interesting things about the internet is how we react to leaks. We say, "Oh, no! Somebody opened someone else's box! ...by the way, what IS in that box? Ooh, that's a lot of cool stuff!" Then again, what do I know? I saw the Gigaleak, and tried to animate those SNES Link sprites from the Super Donkey files.
As cool as it is seeing the behind the scenes stuff, this leak is super bad. Nothing justifies these actions. Thousands of real people had their information stolen because some fans felt entitled.
This video is 8 minutes of complaining about Nintendo, not actually talking about the leaks outside of 'yeah this is morally wrong'. Like.. Yeah, we know. I get it, you're annoyed at them over Palworld, but there's no point uploading a video where you don't actually talk about what the video is titled
A level headed take on this leak. What a breath of fresh air. I have to slightly disagree on the Nintendo Museum take though. I agree that it would be the PERFECT PLACE for this kind of in depth and historical data, and even that they are doing a disservice without some of the restored media from fans and devs from over the years. But I also think they went pretty hard leaning into their pre-videogame origins, and can't personally call it a mockery. It's sterile, but it's way beyond the bare minimum imo.
On the one hand it's unfortunate for the person that got hacked, on the other, they were never gonna put any of this shit out themselves so there is no right way to get this stuff.
Always nice to hear your thoughts Shesez! These videos are always a fun mealtime thing for me haha, love hearing what you have to say in general. If I may, It would be cool if these types of videos that are more about thoughts and opinions on a situation, rather than the event itself, we're titled something like "Shesez Says" or "Shesez Thoughts on" and then whatever the topic covers "insert topic here!" In any case. Food for thought, keep up the great work! 💛
I highly doubt this hack is going to influence Nintendo to make more of their internal development stuff public. If anything, it will have the opposite effect, meaning they will be even MORE secretive about these projects in the future. I mostly just feel bad for the employees 😞
like it's one thing to say 'hacking is bad' but then if you go on to say they could have avoided being hacked by publishing top secret inside documents in the first place, then why keep anything private at all? using the whole Palworld lawsuit as a reason for flaming Nintendo is understandable in context, but I don't think the employees should be punished because of the actions of the company as a whole
The reason hackers leak information in batches is to make it more time-consuming to remove it from the internet

Think as far as beta pokemon go. Nintendo do go back to some of these scraped pokemon and bring them to future titles.
The most ‘interesting’ thing that came from the leaks were the Typlosion and Slakoth stories.
