I came here after watching 3hours+ movie “Ping Pong - The Triumph” that told the inside story of how China Men’s Team finally managed to regain ping pong supremacy in this 1995 Swaythling Cup after losing it to Sweden for several years.
Jan ove waldner won both of his games against ma Wenger and wang tao... But jorgen perrson lost against both of them Basically CHINA defeated SWEDEN, But WALDNER defeated CHINA.
But WALDNER didn't win men's single golden medal. Kong Linghui won the men's single golden medal. China won the men's team golden medal. WALDNER won nothing, even a silver medal at the 1995 WTTC.
@@lhsleo3175 Waldner had to play a lot of matches in the team competition because Sweden could not dispense him like China did with Kong and Liu. He did very well, won almost all of his matches, but was exhausted in the singles competition of course. Liu on the other hand was young and used to the climate in chinese gyms. Taking all these things in account, Waldner did very well in the singles also.
@@lhsleo3175 Persson suffered from whiplash syndrome after a car crash but redeemed himself winning the Team WTTC 2000 at Kuala Lumpur.Waldner beat Kong Linghui at the 1999 WTTC.The 1995 champion lost to a guy 10 years his senior,how embarrassing is that?Weakling Kong Linghui.

wangtao is the best player in China at that time. Waldner is the best over the world
He’s not great without hiding service (neither Liu guoliang) Ma long is the best over the world so far
Anybody know where I can find Wang Tao vs Kim Taek Soo from 1995 WTTC?
Yes Kim won but was dq for solvent on rubber. Records don't show that
