I'm an avid RC4WD driver and it's nice to see you guys give this rig the attention it deserves. Just drive like a real 1:1 to fully enjoy the experience. It's not a TRX4 Sport..LOL..
You know I’ve been subscribed to your channel for some months now, I had to stop your video on the Land Rover halfway through just to tell you I consider you to be the Dalai Lama of the RC world. Only downside is is in these times right now I can’t afford to get the Land Rover but I would sure like to have it so something to look forward to in the future! Thank you once again. (Walter) i’ve had my Everest GEN seven for over a year now and have super model dirt modified and upgraded from the cheap plastic parts it is now a competition Worthy trail truck.
I don’t have a RC4WD in my collection but I can see this being mine soon. Looks like a very well designed and built rig. It wouldn’t be crawling on the rocks with a great looking body like that .thanks for the info and review.👍👍
I have a couple of RC4WD vehicles. Not the best crawlers or trail vehicles but you can't beat them for a scale vehicle. Fun to play with and great quality. Another weak point, drive shafts will break soon if not the first time out if they are the normal plastic. I enjoy your videos.
Awesome video. I think this defender will be really good for show and shine, scale accessory the hell out of it. And get a realistic looking motor under that hood too. It will be endless
I have the Xtra Speed Chasis, is a clone of this one, but seems a bit better All the same but. The driveshafts in the Xtra Speed are steel, not plastic and the links are aluminium Also the upper driveshaft (From the motor to the gearbox) is articulared The shocks tower have many holes to change the shocks positions and height Better accesss to the rear and front diff (Like the Axial) And the mounts of the body use 4 screws instead the clips
Great review. I'm not huge into the scale department, but that thing is quite nice. What a pain to have to remove every screw to lock tight. Would have been better to just sell as a kit.
For the quality you get for the hot body I would pay that price I always did like my hot bodies more than the Lexia marks you can make the lexion ones with pretty good but it never really gets that look to it like a hog body thanks for this video it was awesome I love how you go through every detail and let the people know if there's anything wrong with it that's why I like a channel have a good one my friend stay safe
The lexicons will never be as good as the hot body. It's simple nature. The lesson body will have morer suttle mold lines, compare to hog body. But the lexus bodies can look better with some details.
The only way I'd have a RC4WD - COIL Sprung! I know Leafs are more Scale... The R3 Transmission is a great performer too. But it LOOKS so good anyway, that I can easily make that concession! I've always wanted to have a RC4WD Rig... Maybe someday. Please stay SAFE! 😷 Carmine ✈🚂🚙
@@CarminesRCTipsandTricks very true . Luckily you can buy the rear true scale suspension set up 👍 as for the front can either leave it or black heat shrink around the threads then you will never no its a non working coil over 👍
Small quality issues have been keeping me away from RC4WD for the longest time, but you can’t get a finished body and interior like that unless you have built a few hard bodies over the years. The heavy body and no oil in the shocks make it drive like it’s scale counterpart-body roll and weight transfer is what makes these RC4WD look cool when being filmed without having to resort to slow motion.
@@imchris5000 yeh I think so too it just opens up the envelope of what the truck can do too . And having locked diffs when you don't need them ruins the scale appearance when the truck is cornering and snow-ploughing the front end with under steer. I feel like RC4WD are a little like Tamiya - they want to stick with their winning formula - even if it was winning years ago (Tamiya = decades!) and now coming second place...
Yes I love mine and if you figure out how to take the top off or even the rear interior please make a videoand also for the shop will I put a 40 weight in and it seems to work very nice with the heavy body.
I'm fairly new to the hobby and bought an RTR Trailfinder II that has only had one screw come loose. Now I am working on a kit TF II with a chassis extension that allows it to carry a full bed along with the crew cab. It is LONG! My take is that RC4WD is a somewhat conservative in its design philosophy and the fundamentals are excellent. As a scale guy, I get frustrated by the off-center motors, shift servos on top of the battery tray, and other shortcuts that are not in keeping with the vehicle's strengths and scale potential. It's kind of like buying a Merceds Benz with vinyl upholstery.
Thank's for the review I'd prefer the 4 door left side drive for $500 rtr...the Traxxas TRX 4 you can get rtr $449.95 with an aftermarket interrior US Bangood $35.00 total cost $489.95 and it comes with some scale accessories, good informative review thanks
I dont know why rc4wd cant figure out a decent way to mount their bodies. A hinge and magnets would be REALLY nice, and seems like it would be easier than anything they do. And the nimh battery... why? If they included a simple lipo and charger they would prob be one of the best values on the market.

Thank goodness!
(Too, the trx4 defender is a 5 channel rig. I had a sport kit & despised it. 👍-ing my defender. My 2nd ever traxxas anything. )
Mines in the mail right now!! 🔥🔥
Beautiful creation of the most beautiful car ever built, I know I'm English & I used to work for rover cars but I alway love the land rover, 😀😀😀
Well said! May never be duplicated.

The C2X can crawl out the box. I can keep up with the best in our club with just a few mods.
Thanks for the well detailed description. Can’t wait to buy one with locktite and shock oil👍
Got the RC4WD G2 Cruiser and i love it... but out of the box you need to lock tight almost all screws, and add oil on the shocks.
Awesome video. I think this defender will be really good for show and shine, scale accessory the hell out of it. And get a realistic looking motor under that hood too. It will be endless
This is so beautiful...i would like to have one but i would probably never take it out.
Great review. I just ordered a Gelande II with the cruiser body. Let the weathering begin.
Good choice! We should Patina ours too.
Great review, I just got mine two days ago and my first thoughts are on point with your review, I really like the scale realism of RC4WD.
I’m watching this with real interest, stunning body ,Love the amount of detail it has .Really looking forward to your running thoughts 👍👊😎
More to come! It ran very well today!
Can't wait to see it in action! Grwzt job Francis!
I ordered one of those on Friday. I already own the D110 and a D90 from rc4wd. Had to have this special edition. Plan to buy the D90 pick up also.
Nice looking scale crawler for sure.
Not a Crawler... But is definitely nice!
Nice review, very detailed as usual.
Much appreciated!
Gelande are nice trail trucks and great for scale, they preform better with weighted wheels especially at the front

Yes, that loctite issue is unfortunate.
what a beautiful rig
It has moves like Jagger.
At last the 1st rc4wd rig review😅

I know you are interested more in performance crawlers, but could you please try Wpl metal kit, for the money it is a good package.

Great review, as always. And FYI, it's pronounced the "gayh lendayh" 2 Chassis :)

Leafs are only scale if you go build a series land-rover. This is a defender and they never built a defender on leaf springs 👍👍
@@richysrc2158 That's true... But to be perfectly Scale, Defenders did not have Coil-Over Shocks. They had separate Coil Springs and Shock Absorbers.

Fair enough! You lucky man!
Nice! I will have mine on Monday... :)

Awesome peace. We love to see a scale running video!!
It did well. Felt like a 1:1 as it was tippng over. There was time to jump out of the car.
@@RCReviewChannel maybe make a stick with kussens.. you can get under the truck when tipping.. lol
@@RCReviewChannel btw we are in The Netherlands. Small group of crawlers all love your videos
A scale truck like this with 2 speed and remote locking diffs like the TRX 4 would be perfect in my eyes.
after having a 2 speed truck its the way to go you save so much battery traveling

You can put 30w oil in these shocks, watch RC Everyday he talks about it and fill the Shocks himself
Can you do the marlin crawler review as well?
Possibly. We try to focus resources on new releases though.
Nice rc.

ALL that nice detail to the chassis and body, only to cut corners & use ANCIENT tamiya connectors! 😱🤦♂️😥🤯 C'mon rc4wd!
My thoughts exactly.
are the diffs locked or lockables ?
Permanently locked.
You need to try the C2X, I am amazed at how well it can do. It beats my modified with brass TRX4 out of the box on stock tires.
Great review, Question: what do you think about the red cat? It’s cheap with portals, Any chance you can do a review on one?
ruclips.net/user/results?search_query=rc+review+redcat
That's more like it 🕶
Like for a fancy obstacle for my Wraith? Too expensive :D
want to get into RC Crawling vehicles; do you know of any Landcruiser Body kits?
How do you make the green one a toy when it's the same dimensions as the red one?
a shame they chose the later puma based defender with the silly hump in the hood. Otherwise you could put your spare tire there :)
Interesting. Thank you for the share.
There on sale at amain with code till june 30th
What? What is the code?
@@RCReviewChannel Go to amain website and sign up for newsletter and they will email u the code,$30.00 off for purchases over $300.00

That rig would be 469.00. Also those bodies and more, in addition to chassis kits are available on intergy.com.
If i scratched off a 500 winner on lottery i wouldn't be able to click the add to cart button fast enough
I gotcha. Yeah, this is one of those indulgences that's not easy to justify.

Yeah... and the connector. I got a tamiya to ec3 adapter, hopefully its right. My tf2 bfg comes in tomorrow.
It’s so quiet! Meanwhile you can’t hear this video over my redcat lol
No Locktite or shock oil ? And Tamiya connectors? So it’s really not a rtr when you have disassemble it.
Glen- dale
:)
Add some grease, not oil RC4WD shocks are leak extremely! It's will leave mark almost like a snail.
I see. the oil is all over the shocks n now. :)
Please don’t kill that body....😂. It looks too good. 100% trail if I had one.
What's a crawker ? Lol
For scale yes rc4wd is great but as for performance this rig is trash, but if you're going for scale I guess running like trash is a good thing Lol.
