Carson sings like an old time cowboy back in the day.
A(nother?) piece of ubiquitous 1980s background radio music I didn’t appreciate until I heard Carson (or Josh) do it.
I love Carson's covers for many reasons but especially because he leaves no doubt what the song is about, which is something that the originals sometimes fail to do.
Legend has it Carson is still playing the outro to this day. Beautiful cover :) always a pleasure!
Someone please break the spell
@@carsonmckeemusic When I snap my fingers you will come back to reality. ... ... ... (quietly tiptoes out of the room)
Your voice is a gift you generously share with us. Thank you.
👍 Well said.
I’ve always loved the song BECAUSE of the pain I felt peeking through the jaunty exterior…so I leaned into that pain for this version. Thanks!
@@carsonmckeemusic My wife passed away a little more than a year ago. Thank you for giving this old song of my youth a new meaning. You are a gifted young man.
This version makes it sound like a John Prine song... and that's a great thing! :)
Now I want to hear it done as a duet, by a man and woman, a back and forth. I'm not sure how to split it into the two parts, but I feel like it could be done.
When the world's in flames - at least we can trust Carson to deliver a safe place. A great new take of this classic song! Thanx for posting!
You’ve given this song so much more depth and emotion than the 80s version. Beautifully performed!
thanks for sharing. it`s appreciated by an old man in Arizona
What an awesome take on an 80s classic, thanks Carson! ( I mentally played the synth along with you. Anyone else?) ...ba-ba-bup, bah-baaaa..... 😄🎹🎶
1960s. It was already a classic by the 1980s.
Great as always. Love your solo stuff but I miss the videos with Josh , hope you are both doing great. Thanks for doing what you do Carson.
Mr. Bacharach wrote so many hit songs it's incredible.
Fantastic cover Carson, I remember Sandie Shaw had a single of this classic song in the 60's.
This will always be something to remind me of your versatility, creativity, and smooth vocals.
thanks Carson Always enjoy hearing your sing. Fantastic.
Such passion in your interpretation. Well done
Or pain…
I'm 63 and have loved this song since |I was 4 years old, but this has just blown me away! Will be my forever favourite version - thanks Carson !
Beautiful! Sandie Shaw (UK) and Dionne Warwick (USA), from those great 1960's. Thank you for this :))
Nice. A great job on an unexpected song. Love that Martin guitar!
I wish there was a button for 'Double Secret Extra Good'.
Excellent Carson. When you go all country, you will be a huge star.
I LOVE THIS SONG
This was so beautiful and I've never been this early! Can anyone else smell that perfume that was advertised with this song, as he is playing it? Anyways I love your take on this song, unique and beautiful!
Bravo !
Absolutely beautiful. So passionate.
Your talent a blessing to all.
Great take on a great 80s song that was originally a 60s song. Great work!
Wow! What a great song. Brings back wonderful memories. I literally wore out the Dionne Warwick album that had this song on it.
Always such incredible tone and soul in your voice and delicacy in your playing.
Carson's rendition is much better than the original and much more heartfelt.
GOOD JOB CARSON
voice just gets better and better....remarkable really
So good.
Wow, great "rendition"!! Your pitch and tone are PERFECT! You continue to amaze me...and make me smile.
Good job, Carson. Glad you pegged the tume as a lament!
Have always loved this song since it was on the radio when I was a child - and this is a cool cover.
love the fade out, carson. thanks for every little bit of this. you are brilliant.
Wow. This brings me back to my childhood. Dionne Warwick was my favorite singer and everything she covered sounded like a show-tune. But she didn't sing it with the feels you do. Thanks for that.
Great version Carson! Well done! 😊🎵
you always come up with great new takes on classic songs....I love your intensity! ♥
Spectacular - thanks for sharing your art with us.
Superb cover Carlson , really loved it . I love the way you pull expression into your playing from that wonderful sounding guitar it’s like your one ..brilliant 👏👏
Sorry… I meant Carson 🙄 lol
Great cover of this song Carson and great hair🎉🎶
You elevate this song. Thank you.
Yes there is!
always loved this tune .. great version & tone thx man
You've done a remarkable job on this song Carson making it seem like a new song although I think your voice would make anything sound good. This song was a bit hit in the UK for Sandie Shaw way back in the 1960s, 1964 I think so nearly 60 years ago, doesn't time fly !.
Lovely!
Wow ❤
That is flawless!
Carson, do you think you could ever do a take 2 of "Lose your mind?" "so tonight.. so you dont lose your mind.."
I think the first time i ever heard you sing and it was the first song i learnt from you! Been a long time huh
Good to see you are still going! I love to support your work and Josh's too. Big fan.
Love from Brazil
The sheer volume of positive reaction to your stuff is a testament to your quality and genuine effort
Great slant on this Carson. Nice.
Thank you Car-man! Beautiful
Very good thanks Carson.
Canta muito... Parabéns!
sweet
This is so good. Love the guitar and your playing is just so magical. Burlington Bill busking on the road and here on youtube(just posted a new one today).
Thanks Bill, happy to have you here.
Carson, hope you have a few minutes to listen to my latest. Rosie and I celebrate our 53rd anniversary in a couple of weeks and I wrote it for her. Big fan of your stuff and all your friends. Such talent!@@carsonmckeemusic
You made this GenXer SO HAPPY! I've always loved this song. I was a little doubtful at first when I read the title. I should know better than to doubt you by now. This was so lovely and sad - just like I always thought it was, but you couldn't tell because of the catchy/bouncy beat. You found the heart of the song.
Wow! you hit those notes perfectly.
Thank you.
What a clear, beautiful voice. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Great rendition as always!
This is just so darn good.
Great Cover. Like this as much as Butch Walker’s insanely loud and great rendition. Well Done C.
Fantastic cover my friend 🙏🏻♥️
Ohhhh so lovely!!
Always fantastic ❤
Beautiful job, Carson, as always :)
Beautiful
love the way you fade out the ending. nice smile, too
One of your best!
Just a man and a guitar
Pure talent. Love your versatility. Keep the videos coming Carson. They make my day!
Always a song that needs a twist. Nice.
Beautiful as always!
Your awesome Carson
Well done Carson!
Carson always nails it. Wonderful.
Just as good as feliciano does it!
Always loved this song
Great Carson! Love your interpretations...
Very nice
Again a great take! Are you recording in Mono and how do you get separation for mixing between voice and guitar?😮 Sounds soooo sweet
Thanks! In this case, it's just one mic, a ribbon. It has a pretty strong proximity effect, so I needed to back it up further than I usually do anyway - I just moved it away until I had a solid balance of my guitar and vox right out of the gate.
Thank you! That shows, it doesn’t need all that fancy recording stuff to let emotions take their musically path! I often had the problem thinking there was a need of special gear to achieve good music and the gear search let me hesitate recording what had just been their. Thank you for inspiring me
I'd say it usually takes less than one might initially think to make something you're satisfied with, and some of it comes down to just mastering the equipment you already have instead of buying something bigger and badder. Not that I haven't collected some nice things over time that I use for all kinds of different purposes, but great art can be made with an iPhone and a little stereo recorder.@@christophzimmer4809
Thanks for replying! Looking forward for you coming to Germany soon! Saw you in Cologne and it awesome
Perfection! So well done - thank you!!
Thanks!
Thank you so much!!
Yeah man! Awesome version, love it 👍
Such a cool interpretation of this tune!!
Nice cover..
Beautiful song❤
Beautiful! I'd love to hear your voice doing "Everybody's Talking At Me" by Fred Neil. I realize you're treading into Harry Nilsson territory, but if anyone can, you can. - Paul
i'd say this ranks up there with sandy shaw's version!
I'd give a zillion dollars to have half your voice!
I’d give 2 zillion dollars to have half of your voice after you gave him a zillion dollars.
Great cover 👌
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤❤❤😊
The pain in Carson's voice ... the life of a player ...
Fantastic, Carson! What is that mike?
sE X1 R, their “budget friendly” ribbon mic. It’s pretty excellent…love it as a guitar mic, fiddle mic, and on overheads; this is a use case that I wouldn’t always recommend, but I wanted a more throwback-y mono sound.
By the way I think you mastered it better than original!❤
When and how did you develop your very bright and nice vibrato?
Beautiful guitar! 0-15?
Thank you!! 000-17SM. Spruce top, mahogany back and sides. Martin made them for a time in the 2010s.
MMMMMM! Yummy!
:)
lots of chords!
