Thank you for the helpful tip Justin of using a cardboard box filled with soil for a new rose to plant where an existing rose was removed. I have heard that before to never remove a rose and plant another rose directly in the same place. I also like the suggestion of removing the excess rain from flowers by giving them a tap with a small stick. Like England, it has been raining non-stop here in Kentucky. All my roses, iris, and peonies are fading quicky because they are staying too wet. Your night tour of your garden was beautiful. Happy gardening, James

I had too, but I chanced it once before and the rose just sat there and withered away so I dug it up and put it into a box with fresh soil, now it's thriving and full of buds. It has been a horrible spring because of the rain, most of my tulips spoiled but I still have some in bloom! Fortunately the iris and peaonies aren't out yet so fingers crossed it stays fine for a while :-)

Justin, you have a gorgeous yard! I can never grow bulbs in pots, because they always get soggy and die! We live in the central part of Washington state, in 7b zone. Cold in winter and hot and dry in summer. Love your channel. 👍🏻💕🌻🌼🌸🦋🇺🇸

Thanks, two extremes there - I think we're a zone 8 or 9 depending on the gulf stream. My poor tulips have all had a bashing this Spring with the constant rain, hence I haven't made much of a video about them. Happy gardening

It is a problem, I replanted in the same place and it just sat there, so dug it up and put it into a box, now it is doing really well and full of buds!

    Hey Justin,
Your flower garden is fantastic! I love all of the beautiful plants and bulbs. You have done such a wonderful job and it really shows.
Do you grow iris in your garden? They are such beautiful flowers. They remind me of orchids.
The night garden is so pretty. What type of lighting are you using?
    Have a magnificent day.
Thanks so much for sharing your garden and growing tips with us.

Hi Donna, I do have some Iris, miniature ones and they have done well this year, I grow larger ones at the Old Manor House where there is more space and they do well too. Some of the lights are solar, and the ones on the tulip are electric with a remote control so you can change the colours, I prefer them warm white. You're very welcome, there'll be more tips etc coming soon :-)

I love the practicality of your video tour, James. Your using a cardboard box, as someone else mentioned, is such a great idea. It reminds me of my planting 28 heucheras (coral bells) recently in larger black pots in the ground. My helper used a post hole digger and we buried them up to the top. I added compost to fill it in. The idea was to keep the plants from drying out. I live in South Carolina with muggy summers and they are planted near live oak trees, hence the need to help keep them from drying out. It hasn't been long enough to know if this is a good idea or not, but time will tell. Thanks again, James for a very interesting video.

Thank you, it is a good idea to use the box, it saved my other rose which you can see in my latest video. That's a very good idea to put the Heucheras into pots, I hope it works and I might borrow your idea for some dry areas! I am always wary of having Heucheras in pots, I don't know if you get vine weevils there but they love to eat Heucheras in pots.

Hi Justin, what a beautiful start to my morning - a good cup of coffee and beautiful tour! 😆 🌺 Your garden is looking beautiful and is obviously enjoying the rain! I had a chuckle at the sped up topiary trimming! 🤣 Thanks so much for the rose planting tip!! I had no idea about that. Have a super day and I'm sure we all look forward to more gardening diary entries! ☺️🌺

The plants seem to have doubled in size this year, the rain has sent them rocketing skywards! That is my normal working speed, hehe! I can't believe it's time to cut things already, no rest now until October! More diaires coming soon!

    Hi
I love your garden and the lighting is beautiful. Where did you get the lights from please?

    • @justinthegardener
      @justinthegardener  4 месяца назад +1

Mostly from Amazon, two spot lights which you can change the colour on, the ones on the tulips are electric ones which have a remote control :-)
