I don't think I will ever be able to accurately portray to you how much I appreciate these spreadsheets! They have been an absolute lifesaver to me and I am so happy you made another one and incorporated things people asked for. Thank you ever so much!!
Thank you so much for doing this. Last year was my best reading year and this year I'm committed to being more intentional about what I'm reading and reading more diversely. This is fantastic.
Hi there. Here from Savidge Reads. This spreadsheet is so cool. Thank you so much for taking the time to not only create, but share it as well!! All the best in the new year. 🎉
Thank you again for the spreadsheet! Loving this year's look. Luckily I didn't have a problem with the tbr page so I will be keeping it because I like knowing how long I've owned my books and how long it took me to actually read. Thanks again!
I love this and the library stuff is something I wanted to add this year as well! I also added “multiple” to the author gender on my copy. Thank you so much for doing this as I loved it last year and I’m excited to use it this year.
You have so many updates for this year! I love the library section. 💕 Last year, I was terrible for renewing books way too many times! This year, my TBR list is reduced to only 36 books in 6 categories: Reread, Books/Authors I Disagree with, Spanish Lit, Non-Linear/Experimental, Non-Fiction & Classics. The challenge will be to stay within these lines. And only 1 library book per month. Happy New Year! 🐿
I'm in awe of you and your labor of love. Although I have (almost) everything written in my book bujo, I would love to give this a try. I saved this video and last year's for reference and also subscribed. Thanks so much.
Loving the new spreadsheet! & thank you for adding the new things to track (I was the one who requested the character sexuality & new to me author ones. tried adding them myself last year, but it didn't quite work as I'm not that good with computer programms..)
Thank you for sharing your work you must have put in creating this spreadsheet! Can't wait to complete mine this year! Also, I am so very impressed by the number of languages you can use fluently for reading as it is shown in "book survey"! Wow! The one thing that caught my eye in "book survey" tab is that you've marked Primo Levi's nationality/country as Poland while he's actually Italian.
This is my first year using the spreadsheet and so excited to try it! Thanks so much for taking the time to make it. Am now donating to your Patreon :) Looking forward to watching your videos again! x
I am SO excited! I adored using your 2018 spreadsheet and even learnt a teeny bit about excel when I added a few bits and bobs for myself. Thank you Sophie!!
So happy you've made this again! It was great to fill this in last year (my first time!). I added a TBR in though. I made it automatic by telling Excel to check when a book was added. If it's before 2019, it is counted for "TBR at start of the year". The amount of books for "current TBR" I do by using the column when I've read the book. If I've not read it yet, this columb says "TBR" and otherwise there is a date. All books that have "TBR" in that column are counted for "current TBR". Maybe an idea for the spreadsheet for next year if you don't want it to be buggy, but still want it in there :) Otherwise than that I really love it, thank you!
This is brilliant, thank you so much for taking the time to make it and for sharing it. It will be my first time using it and I know I will enjoy it immensely 😊 also, great to have you back. You are the reason I got into Booktube in the first place.
This is awesome Sophie! Thank you so much :) Just a note, I saw that in the data tab the dnf count reads =COUNTIF('book survey'!J:J,"dnf") -> I think it should read =COUNTIF('book survey'!J:J,"yes") if I'm interpreting the macro correctly.
Also just noticed that in the data tab, the macros in the "new to me author" section are switched. Easiest fix is just to make A88 say no and A89 say yes :)
Thank you so much for this new spreadsheet. I used the previous one last year for the first time and loved it. Love the new section for library books too. I hope you know how much your hard work is appreciated. Happy New Year xx
Thank you so much, Sophie! So happy you do this for us every year! :) I used the TBR function and really liked it, so thank you for explaining how to get it back in!

Thank you for all your hard work! I did have a question though. There isn't any data showing up in the Year at a Glance section and I was wondering if I did something wrong or if there was a way for me to fix that?
@@08caitlinrose I am having the same issue. It's telling me most of the information, but leaving out all of the books/pages per month in the data section. It also won't let me keep the 0s in my dates for whatever reason? Perhaps that's why the data isn't working? (i.e. 01/01/2019 becomes 1/1/2019). Not sure how to stop it from doing that.

@@SophieIslington I'm having a problem with the year at a glance. It's not adding the information that I put in the book survey. I checked that I was inputting the date format correctly and I am. thank you so much for this !! i've been trying to do a spreadsheet but i have no idea how to do it with the stats and everything and this is awesome !!! thank you |
I LOVE STATS! Thank you, Sophie. I have been making my own spreadsheet for a while now, but I'm going to give this one a try this year. One thing I'm always struggling with is what to do with authors that grew up between two countries, or ones that emigrated as adults. Any ideas?
I love this so much!! Question (for either you or any commenters who want to weigh in) - for the country of the author, do you note the country they're originally from, or where they are currently living? For example, if an author was born and raised in Japan but now lives in the US and wrote the book on my shelf while living in the US, would you note that as 'US' or 'Japan'?
I love it, thank you. I added an author count. I only have Excel online so I can't use array formulae but I use: =SUM(IF(FREQUENCY(MATCH('book survey'!B5:B6,'book survey'!B5:B6,0),MATCH('book survey'!B5:B6,'book survey'!B5:B6,0))>0,1)). Sadly you have to update the B6 to whatever the book survey is down to but last year I worked out I read 50 authors from 61 books.
planning on using this in 2020, does anyone know how to make a statistic for average number of stars per genre, trying to read wider so be interesting to see what genre im enjoying most! thanks!
Hi just a quick question. What do you mean for the new to me column? If the book is not a re-read surely it's new to you. Or is to be used for day one purchases/impluse library loans as opposed to stuff like Dracula which everyone has heard of but not necessarily read?
Thank you for this! I've downloaded the spreadsheet while following along the video and it is great. I thought about making a stats-list this year, but it wouldn't have been this detailed. And I love the details!
I'm so glad I've found this spreadsheet, it's going to be a game changer this year! quick question though that i'm hoping you can help with: I use star ratings with added decimals at times (.25, .5, .75) but whenever I put those in for my rating, it automatically changes back to the whole number and doesn't calculate anything with my additional decimals. is there anyway to change that so it registers a rating other than the whole number? I've figured out how to fix it on the data page, just not how to change it on the main info page when entering in the rating. thanks!
Hmm, I think it's just that you would need to either drag the cell to make it wider so you can see it or there is a button under the Home tab (just under numbers) when you click on the cell, that lets you increase or decrease decimal points shown x
I'm having an issue where the estimated total reads and total books read boxes aren't working. They're stuck at zero even though I haven't changed the sample data. Everything else is working perfectly, so thank you, but is there a way to fix this? Also how do you change the currency?
I'm also having this issue, it's giving me an error at the estimated total and average pages per book, saying "a value used in the formula is of the wrong data type". I am really stupid when it comes to excell so I have no idea how to fix this.
For currency in excel if you highlight the cells with currency, in the home tab you can click the button that says accounting and then go down to currency, in symbols there are lots of currency options :)
Oh darn, it doesn't seem to mesh completely with Numbers on Mac. It's not showing any gridlines, even if I try turning them on and off and on, and the data page isn't pulling the info from the survey page. When I downloaded and opened it, it had all of your placeholder stuff on the survey page, but when I removed that and tried entering in a test book, nothing changed on the data sheet. I can see the formula at the bottom, but it doesn't seem to recognize it. Am I just being dumb and doing it wrong, or does it only work on Excel?
For currency in excel if you highlight the cells with currency, in the home tab you can click the button that says accounting and then go down to currency, in symbols there are lots of currency options :)
I'm having a problem with all of the monthly stats: it does not seem to be reading my entries. I have tried changing the dates etc., but that did not help. Can someone please give me some advice, I really want to use this spreadsheet, but I am stupid with excel.
@@SophieIslington Thank you for going through so much trouble to help everyone. I finally figured it all out and cannot wait to see the end result at the end of the year. :)

There are also a few fixes in the comments for dates with different versions of excel or different machines which might work for you?
Just wonder I’m not great with excel and was wondering how to change the £ to $? But honestly love your spread sheet!
You can do it in the currency section at the top of the data type on the first page. You can then choose from a load of currency options :)
This is excellent! Thank you very much :)
thank you for this. I wanted to do something similar to tack the authors I read!
Thanks again! Fab as always. 💜
Sorry, I don't think it does work well with Numbers sadly. You might be able to use it on office online?
Maybe it is a simple question, but how can I change the currency? :)

Thank you so much for this!
I love this so much!!!
I'm having a problem with all of the monthly stats: it does not seem to be reading my entries. I have tried changing the dates etc., but that did not help. Can someone please give me some advice, I really want to use this spreadsheet, but I am stupid with excel.
Hey, some people in the comments below have offered a few fixes that might work for you and your machine :)
@@SophieIslington Thank you for going through so much trouble to help everyone. I finally figured it all out and cannot wait to see the end result at the end of the year. :)
This is wonderful!
Woohooooo, it's here!
Thank you so much Sophie
