    VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE: A HUGE thanks to Kristen for providing a formula that means you DON'T need to add your current page number if you haven't made any progress on a book. You can now leave those rows blank!

      Will be testing this out during Biannual Bibliothon! Will it affect anything if I delete the welcome & How to pages?? I've exported to excel as I prefer it and don't really need them now that I know how it works but don't want to delete incase it affects something in the rest of the spread

      Since you've added the "Progress" row, you have to change the formula for the Books Started/Finished to match the 5th row rather the 4th as it used to be as it doesn't work now.

    Fantastic spreadsheet! For the empty cell thing you are struggling with: The easiest way I can think of (without actually trying it) is that you'll need a current page counter, let's say it's in G6, I assume you could then have the following formula =G9-G$6$, the page counter would just be =sum(G7:G500)-G5... Again, I'm doing this theoretically right now as I don't have Excel available at the moment but it should work (I hope)...

    To fix your first day problem when you're starting on page 50...
    Enter a formula in cell H7 that just says "=H5".
    You have that cell purple, so even though it has a formula in it, it's listed as a safe to update field... So if someone does read on day 1, it will update correctly and take into account your start page, but if you don't read on day 1, it will still take it into account.
    Hopefully this makes sense! You can message me if you have questions. I love Excel

    I have a question about the challenge section, if there is a challenge like "read 5 fantasy books", how do we do to enter the five books in the challenge if we don't read them one after another ? Like I read a fantasy book, i write it in the challenge section, but i read a sci-fi one after and it's also a challenge, how do i do to enter the next fantasy book between the first fantasy book and the sc-fi one ? Does it work if i just insert a cell down ? (i feel like my explanation is awful xD)

    • @littlebookowl
      @littlebookowl  5 лет назад +1

      +Agnah Plays I think I get what you mean! I’ll have a think if there’s an easier way, but I’m not sure if there’s a way to calculate that in one formula. My first instinct would be to actually have five rows for that one challenge, so you can select which 5 books will work for the challenge and mark them off one by one. Does that make sense? It’s so much easier to show than explain 😅

    • @littlebookowl
      @littlebookowl  5 лет назад

      Hi! I'm not sure how Netgalley ARCs track progress, would you mind giving me a little more information? In terms of Kindle, you can use the eBook location-to-page converter tab. If your settings show progress in 'Locations' you can use the first set of conversion tables to convert your progress into the equivalent page from the physical book. Otherwise there are tables that convert based on the percentage. Hope that helps!

      Ah yes! So you can convert the % to physical pages in the Ebook location-to-page converter tab. There are a bunch of tables you can use (for %, scroll down to the tables at the bottom of the spreadsheet). I discuss this very briefly at 12:13 in the video. It's not very accurate, but you could also change your settings on your kindle to show the location of the book you are at. You can change the reading progress to ‘Location in book’ by accessing the Font & Page settings. What kind of Kindle do you have? Some kindles actually have the option to show you the ‘Page in book’!
