Thank you and fair winds
In a world full of chaos and friction, its a joy watching your voyage as it brings some sense of sanity and calmness. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Thanks for the kind words.
Well said Sir👍
Amen 👍
Hi mate, re covid. My dad is 87 dementia and a very bad heart. Had one astra Zeneca jab which cause a minor stroke 10 days later, he begged me not to have another one. Last year the nurisng home sent an email out for a covid vax clinic. Interestingky that would be his 6th if he had everyone they told him to have.
Anyway, after that clinic there was an outbreak and he got covid.
I thought “damn it i may have killed him” (ie i was pretty stressed)
Well! He recovered in 3 days. Nil issues.
Me? Im unvaxed and have never caught it despite being in close contact with 25 who had (eg in the auction box for hours with those around me ill).
Im not anti medicine (id be dead without seeing my hematologist every 4 weeks) im anti shit product.
Its my view if you eat right, wash your hands etc and do what grandma said eg get sun, vit C dont get over weight etc you can be over it pretty quick
@ good advice and I would include vit D
Thank you for sharing your personal thoughts and perspectives. As an only child raised in a small remote northern fishing village and now solo sailor, your comments on solitude strike a familiar note. Safe travels Alan
Thank you for sharing your adventure!! Would definitely hop on when were done rebuilding our catamaran.
Enjoy, I do vicariously.
Thanks for the adveture I will never build a sail boat and go in the ocean. Build your own adventure is something that sticks to me. I miss my mother and father who died in 1981 and father in 2009 at 83 I'm only 55 and the last of 5 children they adopted. Take care stay strong in the oceans. P.s. my mother came from nova Scotia by train in 69 to have me . Bless her soul
Great story and thank you for sharing.
Your skills and personality are stellar.Thank you for sharing all the insights etc.
Thanks so much! I love sharing my journey.
Love it. And thank you for never talking about politics, one way or the other. I think we all come here to escape it, and too many are starting to inject it where it doesn't belong. Godspeed, Alan.
I agree. Years ago, during the Covid pandemic, I felt the need to unsubscribe from a sailing channel when the skipper started making political comments. To be fair, I had been beginning to tire of it anyway, but the introduction of politics was the final straw.
Thank you and I just want to be authentic and live my best life. Something we can all get behind.
@@RoversAdventure I applaud you for your authenticity and the idea that has now become your tagline, namely, ' Forge your own adventure'.
Stupid Covid. So glad you weren’t sick too long but it sounds like a nasty two days. I was in Cork once - loved Ireland so much! Thanks for this great video! ☘️
I love Ireland too! Cork is a beautiful city.
Glad you’re feeling better. Fair winds.
Another great video Alan, enjoying seeing all the places I know and love..
Thx
Love your videos! You make me want to work on my storytelling. Thank you!
Thanks, I really enjoy sharing my experiences!
Wish you a good recovery. Take care.
It's all good, thanks for your concern.
Can you please point me to an episode that shows how you reef your junk sail? Love this channel!!
Yes Alan another good video. Ive recently found You and have 'Caught' up' on all your videos. They are so refreshing .Im a Motor boat Guy in North Wales are you coming this way?😄 Interesting to hear your thoughts about health care etc. Plus your ethos about sailing solo etc. I have an 89 year old Brother in Canada who needs medical care. Im trying to bring Him 'Back Home' as it were so too it was / is interesting to hear how another 'commentator' mention about the broken NHS. Hey Man getting over that Covid so quickly is wondeful. Mate you are an Insperation thank you👍
Thanks for the kind words. I think we all have to take every opportunity to look after ourselves through diet, lifestyle, and exercise as best we can. Relying on Health care in Canada is not an option for so many as we simply don't have family doctors anymore.
We used to call it a cold until the plandemic ❤❤
So true
Funny, I thought the same. Stay away from those testing kits, plenty of Vitamin C and fresh air.
Please, let's keep it about sailing, not conspiracy theories.
@@jaygee5693people can say what they like, if you don’t like that and get hurt easily I suggest you stay off of social media. The truth obviously hurts one in denial.
By the way, earth is flat, so careful when sailing.
Oh my, your rudder self steer trim tab - you moved your carabiners to the outter holes! How did it help/work?
Thinking about a winch to assist with that halyard? Appears to take some serious effort. Great Video. I also find myself recharged after solo sailing for long periods. They say an extrovert is recharged being around others and a true introvert is recharged being alone. I am definitely the latter of the two. Sounds like you are as well.
I'm very happy to hear you find a recharge in solo sailing.
Just realised, do you have two outboard engines? As you have a second for the pram.
The second is on loan for use with the Dinghy until I get to Dublin
@@RoversAdventure I thought that might be the case.
There is no contradiction in enjoying solo sailing and enjoying other people's company. I very much feel the same.
Incidentally monkstown is where I first learned to sail! Great place.
Exactly
I had a great time there and met so many great people!
Are cardinal buoys not common in the US and Canada?
I first was trained on them in 1986 in Canada
@@RoversAdventure Well thank's for sharing. We did this in reverse 55 years ago at the start of a family holiday. We were as sick as dogs! Ha ha ha!
Any other homebuildt 21 ft junk-rigged sailboats showing up?
I'm not in touch with any
Are you flying your Canadian Flag? Just missed it, or did I?
It's part of the MK3 sail
And we are off to MURPS PUB for some vitamins 😂
You are a good man my friend! We should go to the "English Market" next week
@@RoversAdventure will do for sure get some real meat.
All the best Allan.
How did your insurance cover your medical issues in Ireland?
garyinjapan.
I didn't use the medical system as I don't really rely on doctors except in trauma situations (and thankfully I didn't suffer any serious trauma)
@@RoversAdventureSmart man. The medical system is broken. I used to work in it.
The “medical system” is working perfectly. It is designed to extract as much money from you as it slowly kills you.
I asked because this is a biggy for many sailors. Luckily, I never needed it but I know of some who did. Thanks for the reply.
I have been following your adventures for a long time now and do enjoy them but the parts in your videos where you look like your in a trance and sharing your thoughts are hard to watch . Maybe get up and do a jig or dance may help .
I understand, it's not for everyone. Sailing and working on a boat can be meditative for me.
Lost me with covid. Bye
????????
Are you Christian?
I just became after being atheist all my life. Found out fasting and prayer is part of traditions.
I am a Christian my friend
