Crazy how much goes into shifting gears on a bike. I had no idea what was happening in there. Very cool to see how it works...and to get a better idea for what might be wrong if things aren't shifting correctly.
This series has been great for my build Dean, I'm currently restoring a CB750 on my channel. Thanks mate!
Between you and hackerweek I've build my cb750 k7 cafe race...really great advice can be found on both your channels
Definitely miss your videos we need you back.
absolutely would be in a serious mess somedays without the effort you put into this series mr, like alot of people on this planet :) thank you, actually, 2000000billion thank yous
You vanquished my fear of gear selector disassembly thank you so much!
This is so helpful. Learning about motorcycles for the first time and have a 75 that has some quirks with the clutch and shifter. Your videos have been super helpful.
I have not got into an engine since the old two stroke days. That is 40 years ago. There is a whole to these 4 stroke engines. I admire that you can remember the steps and parts. You must do this a lot.
Gotta tell ya, this and pretty much all your cb750 build vids have saved my ass on too many occasions. So thanks a million for taking the time to make quality videos and passing on your awesome diy knowledge. Had to take a minute and tell you your the man and I know my bike in and out now because of you.
Hello Sir, yeah great video. I also miss these bike series. Hopefully you'll do some more. You were my inspiration to rebuild my 1978 Yamaha XS750 Triple engine. Keep up the great work. Thank you for sharing your mechanic experience. There are a lot of us out there that benefit greatly from your videos. Take care, Max.
Uploaded this to correct bolt torque info at 5:30.
Wow that shift assembly is really overkill, In my 1982 Suzuki gsx 750 the shift assembly is really simple and effective.

Dean Segovis, are there any plans for future bike builds? These builds are my absolute favorite to keep up with!
Hey Thanks for the explanation of how the gear box works. Probably still the same even on modern bikes which are one down-rest up.
Fantastic! Thank you.
Terrific vid.
Great Job thank you
Perfect
Great vid! I have a 1975 CB 750 and am planning ongetting inside the shifter case! I am assuming you have to drain the oil before. I thought there might be some oil in there!
Hello, fantastic series, very useful, well done. Any idea where I can buy this spring (just below your fingers at 10.15). The tensioner spring for gear drum actuating arm. I live in France, very hard to get Honda parts. I wondered if you could help, keep up the great work, thank you. David

how do i get a tight screw out of the gear shift cover?
I need your help! All my components and springs are working fine and I don't have anything broke or missing. As soon as I put all the the screws on the cover plate, the gear shift lever would not return. It's binding.
Am I dreaming? I'm glad

Hey, im having issues with my shifter assembly, i can only shift into first gear, and neutral and cant get into 2,3,4,5th... likely the spring in the arm lever like you said?.. that first big spring, which i cant find anywhere.. can i just bring this old one to a hardware store and find a generic spring that matches?
How did you fix it?
He's back!
Rerun
old video?
Did this on 400. Little dowel pin was missing. Keep emptying those boxes!
Your videos have helped me a lot. But this gear shift assembly has got me stumped. You.make it look so simple to get the first stopper arm on. I can only get it on if I hold the spring in place over the nut with a pair of pliers. I couldn't possibly do it just using my fingers as you do. And as soon as I release the pliers the spring just pushes back off the nut. I'm starting to think the arm on the spring is TOO long and that it is not the original spring. I just can't see how I could get the neutral stoppee arm om without an extra pair of hands to hold that first spring in place.
Right then . Time to re watch some hack a week
pretty much the same mechanism as the honda goldwing gl 1000 to gl 1200.
Do you have a email or something I can show you a video on my cb750 ?
