Started building mine last night. The instructions are the worst I've experienced in 35+yrs of kit builds! I will be referring to this video countless times throughout the build. Thank you Troy.
Looks like a nice kit... cant wait to see more of people's thoughts after they get some use on it... This kit renewed my interest in drifting , and have been looking at a bunch of cars for the last few days... leaning towards a Yokomo RD2.0 kit to start with, and then possibly.this for my son and I to have 2 cars. Can't wait to see your next videos, as I am really interested in what body mounting options they provide, and if there is a way to mount from the shock towers vs the front bumper... Also, very curious about when you would want the higher CG motor on top vs the lower CG motor and battery position... would that hamge dependomg on if you're on a smooth drift track vs parking lots and tennis/basketball courts, etc...? Cheers
Glad you are thinking about getting into drifting. As you first start, you will see VERY little difference in a high vs low motor setting. I recommend NOT stressing over any of these details. Getting the proper electronics and learning how to drift will be MUCH more important than these small details.
For the money I would expect the instructions to include two important gears for the diff. Hopefully people assembling this kit notice they arent mentioned and put them in like you did. It does look really nice, clean though. And a bit heavy looking like the MST rigs. It will be fun to see how it works out as new lighter bits and add ons become available too.
I bet the newer manuals will be updated quite quickly. Hopefully someone from TA is watching! :) The car is not as heavy as I thought it would be, and I think has some potential to drop some weight rather quickly. More to come on that!
@@RoadsideRC once I put it down on the table it loosens up. It was super floppy until I mounted the shocks. I used the same size you did, being the middle height shock arm.
@@RoadsideRC I figured it out, I had the bottom hub link turned the same as the top hub link 😞 now she is smooth as ice 😊 thanks for everything you do for the drift scene Sir
Good question! I don't believe so. All 4 of them (top and bottom on both sides) are the same part and symmetrical. I could easily see someone 3D printing or offering different parts that bolt on to offer this. Great idea!
Was curious where you mounted the capacitor for the ESC? Im running the same XR10/DC10 combo and there just isn't a ton of space on that rear ESC mount for the capacitor. Also, are the ball joint connectors for your steering really loose? Mine didn't snap in like the rest of the ball joints in the car and wasn't sure if that was by design or if I got crummy ball joints. TIA
I was able to mount the capacitor just above the ESC. My ball cups snapped tight all around. Interesting that yours are loose. I wonder what is up with that...
@@RoadsideRCnot sure, didn't seem like there were different sizes. I checked other ball joints but they all did the same thing. Might just have to throw some different ones in there. Did you mount it on the Carbon fiber or on the plastic mount off the rear?
@RoadsideRC I'm just getting started. I ordered an rwd mini z and a wltoy k969(both in the mail). Does your LHS do drift events and mini z races? I would like to attend one.
@@StevieGTO4 No mini-z races, but yes to the drift nights. Follow the Cookeville Hobbies Facebook page and the Tennessee RC Drifting Facebook page for more info.
I am actually very happy with the front end geometry. Folks are over-thinking it and reverting to what they have known before instead of figuring out what is here. Don't worry.
@@RoadsideRC Most any decent pair off Amazon will work. However I would recommend getting a name brand set like Knipex as over time the cheap ones will wear and make worse cuts
@@AustinBarnesRacing I use a cheaper one off Amazon and it works nicely BUT if you try to cut the wrong thing it breaks. The nicer ones tend to not break on denser materials :D
This video was very big help when I was building my DC10. Asso’s manual is piece of sh.t, unfortunately. Yokomo and MST manuals are soooooooo much better. Thanks for this video!
@@RoadsideRC the Yokomo Sd 1.0 LTS would be sick. I noticed you don’t post a lot of Yokomo content. also maybe you could do a video on turbo timing and boost settings. Love the content by the way you should come slide in the Knoxville hobby town if your ever out this way 🙏
Having personally written a few manuals...it takes a few iterations to get everything correct. I bet their online manuals will quickly get some revisions.
@justindurand9110 they probably do a few versions but nothing is perfect and once the public gets them in hand AE gets more feedback and a few more revisions should happen like they did with the B7 2nd wave of cars.

Thanks for the kind note - glad to hear this was helpful!
I just found your channel after I ordered a DC10 kit, it’ll be my first drift car build. This video was super helpful! Thank you!
Awesome! Glad this was helpful!
Reach out if you have any other issues.
Great video Troy! Always looking out for our community!
I do try! Thank you!
Fantastic video! Thanks a lot!
You are welcome!
Thanks for the nice comment.
You're awesome my friend, hope to see ya @hobbytown Knoxville's drift track some day. Top rc channel on RUclips.
Thanks!
Yes - I really want to get over there for an event.

@@RoadsideRC I look forward to seeing more on the rig as you fine tune it! Pretty exciting times to have new chassis kits :D
Did you use green slime on your shocks I want to know just so that way I know if I really need it or not.
And do I also really need thread locker?
One other thing
Can I just use one of the fluids or the black thing instead of the green slime or thread locker
100% used green slime and thread locker.
When you built yours and before you mounted the servo, was the steering a little stiff turning it right and left?
It was not. It was super free and floppy. Check to see where your resistance is coming from.
@@RoadsideRC once I put it down on the table it loosens up. It was super floppy until I mounted the shocks. I used the same size you did, being the middle height shock arm.

My book says when using the high motor set up use the green springs
Those are just general guidelines - you will need to tweak for the exact all-in weight of your car.
I was curious if you can rotate the two blue aluminum pieces on the front hub to get either some kpi or change track width.
Good question!

@RoadsideRC yea thats kind of what I was thinking. The videos I watched the guys were basically converting the DC10 into a rdx and yokomo lol.

What you need is a Flush Cutter if you're going to be cutting a lot of plastic off the sprues...
