So on Friday Logic released his first full project (under the name Logic) since coming out of retirement, Bobby Tarantino 3.
As you might know, I reacted to 3 out of the 4 singles that dropped from this album, and they had me pretty concerned about how good this project would be. The singles of course were Vaccine, Get Up, My Way & Call Me, and the album has a couple guest appearances from Cynthia Erivo & Dwn2earth.
So, did this project exceed my expectations? Well, this is CDTVthaG, and watch my first reaction/review of Bobby Tarantino III to find out!

The first part of Space cowboy was originally meant to be the beat switch part of 5 hooks, and 5 hooks originally had a different first beat too

Your theory about this album being a bunch of scrapped projects put together is true. The track flawless was leaked like nearly 2 years ago now
The singles were 100% the weakest part of the album, the second half is better, but album as a whole is very mid. Also, fun fact, a good amount of these songs were scraps from 2018-2019, adding to the theory that this album was just made for logic to get out of his contract quicker. Some of these songs are even from BT3 OG which was 2018 and got turned into COADM
Honestly, I'm not mad about it. The stuff he has said about Def Jam would also make me want to get out of the contract and put them behind me as quick as possible. Regardless, I prefer this mixtape over BT2 easily.
Honestly, I don’t mind that he did this. I fuck with most of the project. I mean, even someone like Lupe did this same thing with Drogas Lite. He got bashed by his fans, but he did what he had to do.

this album is overall solid after a few listens and wish most of these went into COADM rather than 80% of that album as it would have fit perfectly

I wasn't blown away by this project, but tbh, it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be when I heard large chunks of it were just scraps from his other albums. The singles, apart from Call Me, were definitely the weakest parts of it, but the rest of the first half is mostly decent, and the last 3 songs were easily the biggest highlights. Overall, this album wasn't amazing by any means, but at least we got a few pretty good songs out of it. Hopefully his next album will have some more heart put into it and it will be an amazing piece of art. I also agree that him coming out of retirement does take away a bit of the impact of No Pressure, but that album's still easily his best work since The Incredible True Story (I was gonna put the abbreviation, but I just saw what that spells- XD) I just hope we get something at least somewhat close to the quality of that record next album
I agree. While this project didn't blow me away, it was way better than some of his other works (You can't get worse than COADM and I would say it's better than Everybody). I honestly liked Vaccine and Call Me as singles but the first half was a bit weak. However I personally think the run of Flawless --> See You Space Cowboy was a very damn good run of tracks on this project. Not bad at all but not something that blows me away.
I'm sure you've heard Intro... I can guarantee that this next album will have heart just by listening to that tbh

The project is exactly how the singles lead me to believe it would: just music that’s there. They’re not the worst songs ever, but there’s no reason to go back to them

@@themoviecritic1092 I agree. I think the last 4 songs on the album were the best by far. Those songs also sound like they were the only ones made after he retired. If he put those last 4 songs on a throwaway ep I have high hopes for his last album under def jam.
This album isnt great, but it's better than i thought it would be. i enjoyed most of the tracks apart from the singles, but its definitely the worst of the bt series.
Yeah I agree. I only really enjoyed and probably come back to 3 or 4 of the songs from this mixtape (my favorite easily being See You Space Cowboy) and all are in the latter half of it. As said in the reaction, it didn’t feel like a BT project and more of just a compilation of songs that definitely needed more work at least in my opinion. Hopefully the last album Logic has with Def Jam is good.

@@billyy4196 bro i have to disagree, no cap I have been the last almost 48 hours listening only to BT1,BT2 & BT3 back to back. just to analyze them and see which I like more and to be honest, I like BT1 & 2 way more than 3. Don’t get me wrong, I like most the songs of 3 BUT overall it isn’t as good as the others in my opinion. Even the cover art isn’t as good as 1,2. It doesn’t even look like a BT cover.

He did care alot which is why he was so depressed at least one if the reasons why. But he probably doesn't care as much anymore

19:22 it was. There was a leak called 88 bars (song was absolute fire btw) with 3 beat switches. The first half was over a fire gorillaz sample, and it had a 5 hooks verse. They couldn’t clear the sample so they repurposed it for that song. The song switched to a backseat freestyle sample which was also fire, and then switched to that see you space Cowboy beat. It didn’t have any raps, but this verse was clearly what was originally on it. Logic just added the second half. So 88 bars has actually been completed😂 it should’ve been on No Pressure cuz it was fire. They couldn’t clear the Gorillaz sample but they could’ve replaced it with the 5 hooks sample. Would’ve been dope

@@leosjuxc2077 Logic admitted on stream that he couldn’t get Gorillaz on the album because they were working on shit and the record label didn’t want him to use a Gorillaz sample. Then it switched to a SuperTramp sample, which wouldn’t get cleared and you hear that at the end of DadBod with the phone coversation. So he had a Toro y Moi sample, and got Toro to help him produce 5 Hooks.

As a fan of logic I must say that this project did not lift me up, it has its own thing but nothing like the first two BT
i recommend giving it some time and letting it grow on you
I think he put this ep together to stall time for his final album under def jam. I know logic has full creative control but the label might have control over marketing the album and it’s release date or it’s just not finished yet. I think he was giving us something small to have in the meantime. Kinda like how he dropped while you wait before under pressure

I think logic is better off just doing what he did on no pressure. Just rapping, having fun, and putting his heart into it. It’s VERY CLEAR to see when he doesn’t really give it his all. The production, as always with logic projects, was incredible, but you were right when you said that some songs were made years in the past. For example, I really liked flawless, but that song got leaked over a year ago. Tbh I enjoyed about half the songs on this album aside from the singles, it’s just that half of the half of the songs I liked just didn’t sound like they were from a BT album.
Yeah, I wish he hadn’t called it BT3, didn’t feel like it fit into that aesthetic.
The Bobby Tarantino saga to me at least is like the first 2 are hype because everything’s new, BT1 right after his first big mainstream success’ and BT2 after insane levels of success and number 1s like he’s coming up to the top, hence the paradise highway sign in BT2 but then BT3 is about how hes kind of struggling with being in “paradise” hence the car crashing into the “welcome to paradise” sign

BT1 for me is the best, the songs are literally the last tracks of Logic rapping like he did back in that era and it just sticks with me

I was pretty impressed with the non singles they really made this album listenable to me those are the ones ima be bumping often
For me it felt like theme for the people was a transition between Logic and his Bobby Tarantino persona, so I liked that even though I might not revisit it much. And see you space cowboy was hard asffff 😤 (untitled was good too) overall the album was fun, not as good as the first two BT mixtapes to me but had some bangers 💪

when he revealed the album i was expecting to hear bangers and after hearing a lot of slow tracks, while it's not bad, it definitely ruined the experience for me as my expectations were something COMPLETELY different

CDTV, I had a lot of the same concerns as you. As soon as the album dropped, I took a look at the scores on Albumoftheyear and they were dangerously low. The user rating was like 46. However, when I listened to it, I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't phenomenal, and Logic still had some of the same issues he's always had, like repetitive, overly simplistic lyrics and tracks lacking substance. Once I got past track 4, though, it smoothed out and was probably on par with Bobby Tarantino II for me. Not great, but when it hits, it's solid.
I felt like a lot of the tracks I liked should've been longer, though.
This album really felt like something thrown together in order to get his last album under the contract over with

This project wasn't as bad as I expected but it felt weird to listen to. Maybe because the songs where a lot more varied than on the other BT's so it feels more like a tape of song that Logic made for the fun of it and wanted to put out.
