At 32:30 at least in my family we are proud of where our families came from because growing up we were told to be proud. I’m 3rd or 4th generation American on all sides and my great grandparents and grandparents drilled it into us that these countries where we are from and we better not forget it.
It’s the same for my family. You’re told to remember how they worked to get here and never forget where they’re from. Be proud of it etc.

I love when US peeps start talking about how they're because some family members came over as immigrants back in the 1800s or whatever. That's... Pretty much the case for a huge portion of US citizens. I get this sneaking suspicion that this doesn't happen in other countries, but maybe I'm wrong!
it happens, but the New World countries are kinda unique that way; the UK has immigrants and their descendants, for example from their colonies; India and Jamaica for example
It's mostly because a lot of these groups were settlers. They brought their culture and traditions with them when founding states, cities, etc. Most of them also didn't integrate and marry outside of that "old world" cultural click until recent generations. So a lot of Irish, Italian, etc people in the US are, genetically, still Irish or Italian. This pretty much held true until the 80s.
This reminds me of the time my gf and my dad met for the first time. It was my brothers's graduation party, and my dad was playing two recorders, with his nose, like right at her face. And that was their very first interaction.
