(Romans 14:23) Gambling in and of itself is not a sin, but if the motive behind choosing to gamble is sinful, then it is sinful, since the love of money is a sin (1 Timothy 6:10). In 2016 I purchased a book by an author named Rex M. Rogers called GAMBLING DON’T BET ON IT. In the book he address this very issue. “Is gambling a sin? Yes. Why? Because gambling is a biblically indefensible activity” page 73 SERVING GOD, NOT MAMMON. I would highly recommend reading this book because Rex M. Rogers is an expert on this subject. He presents a clear & biblical examination of gambling. He discusses moral & economic arguments, charity gambling, and addictions. Thank you Corey for discussing this topic.
Thank you Corey for sharing this much needed message regarding gambling and I totally agree with you one thousand percent! If you ask 100 Christians their take or message regarding gambling I truly believe you would get different answers every time but most responses would be totally against gambling saying it is a SIN! Why? most Christians give their own personal views, fears and thoughts about gambling. I remember growing up if a person went to the movies, or played cards, or sing what is called secular music or wore certain clothes or make up it was always SIN, SIn, and Sin. Most Christians do not have godly discernment to rightly divide the word of Truth they operate in fear and lack of knowledge! You are totally right what you shared. If a person cannot control themselves when gambling then they shouldn't. Many people even Saints are addicted to many things that are actually sinful according to the word of God. And even the bible speaks of being a Glutton! And many other things yet they shy away from this real issue but condemn others to Hell Fire because they gamble.. Well Said Corey continue allowing the Lord to use you.
Exactly, by gambling a person is serving the god of mammon. They are trusting in a false god for the wealth and riches. He who is greedy for gain troubles his own house. Fleshly desires are never satisfied, thus people that do not crucify their flesh and serve Christ Jesus they will end up where the worm never dies- they will never be satisfied by their sin and will spend eternity without God’s presence.
@@benitaesq_ I totally do not agree whatsoever with what you have said about a person who decides that they want to gamble that they are serving a false god and they will never be satisfied Etc. You see if you really want to go there them let us take a long trip! Every stores you shop, every jobs human beings work at. I could say that they are serving the false god of this world also? When people take their kids out for entertainment at the amusement parks or at a video games establishment, or to play skee ball or other games. They must pay in order to play these games is this right?????? So what is the difference in a person who makes a decision to play slot games at a casino they have to pay to play once again is that right??? The only difference is one establishment does not give you money in return where as the other establishment the casino you can probably win on what you put in.Yes, Yes!! So as long as a person has the money to play where they want to play as long as they are not addicted to gambling. They are serving Jesus and being a true follower of him. Their income is not based on false gods or depending on living on gambling. Then I say to each who decides what they want to do and what they personally feel in their spirit. But it has nothing to do with living and serving Jesus or being a true child of the most high king Jesus. You see God does not gamble whatsoever! He already knows which machine is going to release jackpots so he lead his children where they can receive if He wills. Glory to God! The bible tells us that the earth is the Lords and the fullness thereof. The bible clearly tells us that the wealth of the wicked is laid in store for the Just. God has blessed a many saints who chose to gamble where they have sat at a chair and put in very little money and have won thousands. And Gods work continues.
There is where the distinction should be made between if the action is a sin, or the excessiveness/lack of self-control is a sin and/or the intent a sin. Amen.
Gambling is a surefire way to catch a Wicked Spirit... and the way to the Broke house!!! Casinos are built to take in more than they put out... 🤦♂️ Don't be Fooled!!! Amen!!! Christ Jesus 🕊 HolySpirit ❤🙏
Great topic Corey. Not to mention the stock market, which at its base level is glorified gambling. You can see that with all crazy activity surrounding Wall Street.

There was a brither in our church who struggles with gambling. My recommendation to him, and others who struggle with this, is to hand the money you were going to use to gamble to the nearest beggar. In my city, you're besueged by panhandlers. Forcing yourself to hand over your earned wealth whenever you're captured by that desire will make you think twuce about the eisdom of throwing away your money.

@@gregattanasio3185 When faced with hungry people Jesus FED them first. then He taught them. Seems to me one could hear and listen better when your stomach has some food in it. Just sayin!
It can create an addiction for some people. Once some people win a large amount of money, then they start getting greedy and want to see if they can win more.
Its a sin. Why would true believer gamble anyway. I could bless people with the money I'm throwing away at a casino. The bible says lay aside every sin and weight that those so easily besets us. I refuse be caught up with the trends of the world. Jesus taught me how to have prosperity and it does not involve taking chances or playing games to achieve. I do not have a desire gamble never have because the spirit of God leads me to seeking the things above and not earthly traditions of men.
Not everyone who gambles is "losing". There are casino slot advantage players, poker players, card counters. I feel like this is a very nuanced issue and would be similar to alcohol. Alcohol can be a sin too but drinking wine is not necessarily sinful.
@ElSpewtardo Did Jesus gamble? If I recall, Jesus whipped those who in temple casting lots, selling merchandise, etc, in the temple. If we were truly led by the Holy Spirit, it would never lead us to into temptation bc it is the spirit of truth!
@@alkeuscampbell9295 I don't think we can necessarily use what Jesus did or didn't do to determine what we can or cannot do as Christians. If that were the case we could ransack temples that are disrespecting God "because Jesus did it". Scripture says vengeance is God's not ours. I guess the real question is what is considered "gambling". Some "gambling" is not purely based on chance since there is a skill element involved, so if someone is winning money from a casino skillfully without cheating, I don't see how that is considered "sinful".
As a Christian, there are three questions I ask myself if the thing I participate in is a sin: 1. Is it inappropriate? 2. Does it stop or inhibit me from serving God? 3. Does it harm my fellow human being? If any ONE of those questions is answered with a yes, then it's a sin.
ABSOLUTELY the way we should ALL do it, and might I add, do it HONESTLY! Some things are NOT an "ACTION" sin but a "HEART" sin (ex. gambling, having friends of the opposite sex, etc.) and God KNOWS our hearts! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
@ElSpewtardo is it pure friendship or based in wanting "benefits" (aka lust), a false friendship (any sex could apply here but opposite sex examples are if it is only to make an ex jealous or someone envious), or things along those lines. Hope this clarifies my point.
@@CCD_106 Yes but those themselves are sins (lust, provoking envy). Having an innocent friendship with someone of the opposite sex is not a sin. I don't think a Christian would befriend someone of the opposite to engage in "benefits". If that's the case, they would need to re-evaluate their "faith".
@ElSpewtardo the point being, no one may know these are the motivations, and thus sin, but that person and God. Lastly, using someone does not have to involve envy, yet it could still be sinful.
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 1 Timothy 6:10 KJV I go to get a break and have fun when It becomes an addiction thats where the problems starts.
I was personally guilty of this by making risky bets in the stock market. Obviously investing in stocks isn’t sinful.. but there was a lot of greed behind my intentions which led to risky option trading bets trying to be able to quit my job.
I went to a carnival. As I walked past a certain booth, man called me to him. He said if I could burst a balloon with a dart that he provided, I could win a stuffed animal. I paid a small amount of money for this game of chance. How does that equate to mistrusting God? It was certainly a gamble.
@@jasonchilds4423 When you (not you personally) put things to chance, what are you trusting in? Are you trusting in chance? Can chance save you? [Chance didn't die for you and I but God did.] If so, how can you trust God and chance at the same time? And which of the two (God or chance) are you serving? No man can serve two Masters. Matthew 6:24 KJV [24] No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. I learned myself from gambling that I was bad at it and it can lead to more bad habits which can prove to be difficult to control. Self control (temperance) is a fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23 KJV [22] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, [23] meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Since we have been set free, (John 8:36 KJV [36] If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed)I came to the conclusion that "if you're gambling, how are you trusting in the Lord?"
@@Romans8-9 And that's why we should pray without ceasing. When you walk with the Lord, you're never alone. The Lord will never leave you or forsake you. Corey, a point of correction: The love of money is the root of ALL evil. 1 Timothy 6:10 kjv. I believe you said that the love of money was NOT the root of ALL evil, the bible says it is.

2:18 "he will go unpunished" when it clearly said he will not go unpunished.. im sure it was a mistake, but lets also be careful when dealing with the word of God. God bless brother.
Cory, when are you live, I would like to be on with you so I can ask you a question. I have subscribed and I have shared. Please help me with this one.
One way I view this is the following: Does it control some aspect of your life that detracts from God? An alcoholic need not be a drunk. If you have a set time that you must drink that overrides other things that God would desire of you, then it is a sin. The same can be applied to gambling. If you must go and forsake family and friends that need you, then it is a sin. This is regardless of the amount of money involved. It is the compulsion that is driving you to gamble instead of spending time doing those things that God would have for you. Some might reply, “But you can help others there while gambling. You can spread the gospel.” Jesus spread the gospel without deserting his family and friends.
I worked hard to labor most of my life and can't anymore. I play fantasy sports for the competition, and i make a few dollars to pay for food and bills. Getting rich isn't my goal.
When the question ask: what is gamble ..the likely answer is: latto, horse racing to includes all aspect of casino.... When the question is ask in this way...what is the legal deffinition of gamble you gget a different answer...now with those to view point ...i belive that we all gamble ...take a read of Matt.25 v14 to 30...using that princple you can find many more example..dont b quick to reach an answer ..
Also your time on this video Corey is 6:23 and I heard the Holy Spirit of God say “Romans 6:23”…God shall not be mocked…renew our minds and not be slaves to sin but unto holiness by the Spirit of the Living God!!!Christ almighty!!! Jesus Christ of Nazareth!!! “For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:20-23 KJV
I think dice and cards are all luck. Sports betting can be based on research and understanding of the sport. There’s an element of luck with sports betting like being knowledgeable of the market and investing but even a smart investment can bust.
Gambling is a tax on those who didn't pay attention in math class, especially statistics and probability. I don't know that the metric of doing something to get rich quick as a sin holds up well. By that metric winning the lottery and realizing huge profits on an IPO would both be sinful. Definitely has a bit of a _work harder not smarter_ vibe to it.
In a way to test Jobs Faithfulness and love for God Satan wanted to gamble on Job’s reputation to depend on God for all he had. In the end Jobs faithfulness was rewarded. God being who is had full assurance of his obedient servant. Let us put our full trust in the Lord for he is always faithful and just to those who love him.
I would always say that too whenever someone talked about me going to the casino. I never thought it was a sin and I would use Bible verse to justify it. The wealth of the wicked is laid up for the just Proverbs 13:22. Wherever I won, and I did win BIG, I would thank God and give some to my friends and family. I figured I was good until I saw a street preacher holding up a sign listing people that wouldn't make it into God's Kingdom. He included gamblers with liars and murderers. That convicted me and I prayed about it. God showed me at different times, because I would still go, why I'm not supposed to be a part of that scene. If you really want to be lead by God, pray and ask Him. Just wanted to share
Gambling is absolutely a sin…it is demonic and a form of bondage attached to the kingdom of Satan and darkness!!! Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” 1 John 2:15-16
It might be for some and might not be for others. Same with advantage players. They are winning money from casinos, I wouldn't call that sinful either. I guess the question is, is the goal to get rich quick?
God dont gamble and its His money. Telling myself this keeps me from buying lotto when I go to work at a convenience store. Sinful, no, better uses for the money, pretty much anything else. And please, Im talking about the "player" not the casual dollar or two player.

Thanks Corey for clearing that up for me.
Beautifully explained with Bible and not feelings.. God Bless you
There is where the distinction should be made between if the action is a sin, or the excessiveness/lack of self-control is a sin and/or the intent a sin. Amen.

Great topic Corey. Not to mention the stock market, which at its base level is glorified gambling. You can see that with all crazy activity surrounding Wall Street.

Thanks Corey, I live in Las Vegas and I do like to go to casinos sometimes when family and friends come to town! I like playing the penny slots, and or bing with friends!! 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼🇺🇸🙏🏼🇮🇱

Very well put! If you believe it will become a problem, then stay away. It's simple

Can't gambling become an addiction if not controlled?
Anything we do can be if not done moderately saved or lost
It can create an addiction for some people. Once some people win a large amount of money, then they start getting greedy and want to see if they can win more.
Yes it can I seen it control people to a point where it's not about winning money but the thrill you get from it which makes it an addiction
@ElSpewtardo Does gambling glorify God? That's the question 🤔
As a Christian, there are three questions I ask myself if the thing I participate in is a sin:
@@CCD_106 Im curious, how is having friends of the opposite sex a "heart sin"?

I go to get a break and have fun when It becomes an addiction thats where the problems starts.
Thanks so much for sharing 👍🏾💪🏾
I was personally guilty of this by making risky bets in the stock market. Obviously investing in stocks isn’t sinful.. but there was a lot of greed behind my intentions which led to risky option trading bets trying to be able to quit my job.
Well I'm not a gambler. I remember one time I got sick when I lost $20 trying to gamble at Bingo before. Lol!!!
Gambling and playing lottery is a sin when you expect it to be your source God is the Source
If you're gambling, how are you trusting the Lord?
Matthew 6:24 KJV
[24] No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
I learned myself from gambling that I was bad at it and it can lead to more bad habits which can prove to be difficult to control.
Self control (temperance) is a fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23 KJV
[22] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, [23] meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Since we have been set free, (John 8:36 KJV [36] If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed)I came to the conclusion that "if you're gambling, how are you trusting in the Lord?"
You are gambling when you cross a busy street/road with no crosswalk. By your logic, you aren't trusting the Lord.
@@Romans8-9 And that's why we should pray without ceasing.
When you walk with the Lord, you're never alone. The Lord will never leave you or forsake you.

Hebrews 13:5-6 KJV
[5] Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. [6] So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear What man shall do unto me.

Corey, you said it's not gambling, if it's influenced by someone else. So, is trading stocks considered gambling, or no?
2:18 "he will go unpunished" when it clearly said he will not go unpunished.. im sure it was a mistake, but lets also be careful when dealing with the word of God. God bless brother.
Cory, when are you live, I would like to be on with you so I can ask you a question. I have subscribed and I have shared. Please help me with this one.
I love God and going to Las Vegas in a couple weeks. 😂 😂. Yes you can. Just like most things, do it in moderation
One way I view this is the following:
Does it control some aspect of your life that detracts from God?
An alcoholic need not be a drunk. If you have a set time that you must drink that overrides other things that God would desire of you, then it is a sin.
The same can be applied to gambling. If you must go and forsake family and friends that need you, then it is a sin. This is regardless of the amount of money involved. It is the compulsion that is driving you to gamble instead of spending time doing those things that God would have for you.
Some might reply, “But you can help others there while gambling. You can spread the gospel.”
Jesus spread the gospel without deserting his family and friends.
I worked hard to labor most of my life and can't anymore. I play fantasy sports for the competition, and i make a few dollars to pay for food and bills. Getting rich isn't my goal.
Thank God JW Watchtower Religion is going out of Business SOON!
I needed this video
Couldn’t gambling be seen as “soothsaying” and predicting the future?
I personally don't see the connection. I'm not a gambler, but I've never seen or heard of anyone using it in that way.
Hey Corey can you explain sin leading to death and sin not leading to death in 1 John 5.
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 6:20-23 KJV

I think dice and cards are all luck. Sports betting can be based on research and understanding of the sport. There’s an element of luck with sports betting like being knowledgeable of the market and investing but even a smart investment can bust.
Do you think it’s wrong to buy tickets for raffles sponsored by organizations to help raise money.?
Gambling is a tax on those who didn't pay attention in math class, especially statistics and probability. I don't know that the metric of doing something to get rich quick as a sin holds up well. By that metric winning the lottery and realizing huge profits on an IPO would both be sinful. Definitely has a bit of a _work harder not smarter_ vibe to it.
investment VOID of product/service is not allowed of Christians----!!!
why not we are once saved always saved

Life is a GAMBLE
Its of the world and that which is not of god is of the devil, Jesus brought a sword to separate us from this world which is ruled by the devil .
Don't you think it undermine the principle of work?
God allows everything... Gambling included
Gambling is absolutely a sin…it is demonic and a form of bondage attached to the kingdom of Satan and darkness!!! Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”

Then would poker be a sin? For if u want to win in poker it is actually a matter of strong discipline and patience
