    hi, I had the og hth from first year and sold it last year at the beginning of the season, replacing it with a ride shadowban, getting a little fed up with the chattery demeanour and the lack of edge grip, which almost costed me dearly, losing the edge on an off camber, icy patch, on a clear slope at the end of the day at 40-50 mph; the knock on the head blackened out my vision for a little but beside a dizzy head, a bruised ego and a thank you to the snow goods for stopping my fall before the ravine of the left side of the slope..I was ok; it made me want to change my one quiver board with something less chattering, a little more playful and, most importantly, with more edge hold; the shadowban is perfect for that but, unfortunately, the burton pop has gone and also the speed, as the speeds that were completely comfortable on the hth are not on the shadowban....a thing which, at the end of the season made me think that I should just try to improve my edge hold technique and ride a hth again; unfortunately for me, it seems that the '24 and '25 models are a step too many in the wrong direction;(less edge, more chatter, less capable in uneven snow - such a disappointment); idk...somewhere out there there is a hth with more edge hold and less chatter; I just need to find it.
    cheers and keep up the good work!

      Thanks for your take and sorry to hear that. The Shadowban is a great board but I wouldn't have recommended it based on what you wrote. You need to look for boards that are stiffer with a disrupted sidecut that grips well when you hit ice. If you want to do this right and get recommendations, hit me here to give me the info I need to help you much better shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/. It's the only way I can really help.

      @@eugenux maybe look into the Libtech Rig. Mervin boards are generally pretty damp. The Rig has a similar profile to the HTH, magnetraction, sintered base, and good pop. Another option I'd consider is the Capita Aeronaut, although I'm not as sure about the edge hold on that vs the HTH. The BSOD is more reliable on edge but may be stiffer than you want coming from the HTH.

      Thanks for the suggestions, @jplpagan, but I wouldn't recommend the Aeronaut due to its edge hold. The BSOD's grip is about the same as his Shadowban. The Lib Rig is a little better, but something full Mag from Mervin (Lib/Gnu) or Underbite or Mid Bite from YES would be better than the mellow mag on the Lib Rig. It's also best to get at least full specs from @eugenux before recommending anything.

      @@jplpaganthe edge hold on the shadowban is very good, nothing to complain; I don't feel the need for more; when I said I wanted more edge hold, it was in reference to the hth. cheers.

    I’m 6'4" and weigh 190 lbs. I just picked up the 2025 HTH in 165W. I plan to use my 2023 161 Mercury with Union Falcor for parks and the HTH for everything else. Do you have any recommendations for bindings to pair with the new HTH?

      Need your boot size when you reference your specs as it's the most important part. Especially since you bought a wide. Yeah. Cartel X Re:Flex, Union Force, Rome Katana, Bataleon Astro and Nitro Phantom +.

    iirc, you previously recommended having structure built into the base, right?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  День назад +1

      No. Just a grind to remove the top layer to get better base glide but not necessary now

    As someone who likes to crank it up whenever the feeling grabs me, chattery with a hollow feeling sounds like a trip to the ER

      @thegoodridesnow  21 час назад

      Yeah it depends on your specs and board preference. If you are into damp boards this isn't it.

    I liked the 160 but for my 180lbs the tail felt flimsy. I wish they would release the version they make for the pros which is stiffer. Thinking of giving the High Fidelity a try since that seemed stiffer when I demo'd it at Brighton last season.

      Interesting, my first gen 2019 152 has a super still tail, sweeet mid flex and floated me well into 165lbs -not the case now 😬 much overlap with 2019 154 deep thinker but this one being much stiffer in the mid section.

    I picked up the HTH last season. I don't have much to compare it to, but i am really enjoying it. I do love it on the kickers and its speed/confidence on icy days. My biggest issue is how fragile the matte black topsheet is. I hope they fixed that in the 25 model.

      Glad its working for you and it's still the same in 2025. If you can, try to demo other boards if they fit your specs.

    Hi, I had the HTH but like you mentioned I get way too much buck and less edge hold. What would you recommned and how would you compare this to the Nitro Alternator

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  19 часов назад

      Hard to recommend anything knowing so little about you but some wild guesses might be the YES All Out, Jones Flagship, Maybe the United Shapes Cadet depending on how much edge hold you need, the Lib Rig, Stranda Descender etc. You can go to thegoodride.com/snowboard-reviews/?mens=1 and sort by the Edge Hold Rating or hit me here to give me the info I need to help you much better. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/. Like the Alternator better for turning, it's much more damp in uneven snow and pops just as well. Not as good in powder as the HTH but its not that bad though.

      @@thegoodridesnow Thanks for the reply, I still want a full camber or at least camber dominant board, and I really enjoy the Nitro team pro and burton custom, would really want a similar board that is better for powder, but still turn like those board.

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  7 часов назад

      Yeah the Alternator should work and so would all above but the Flagship which doesn't have as much camber. They all have a similar amount of camber to the HTH. Hit me through the advice section if you want to get into it more from here.
