Brad definitely built a more realistic build. Its actually built from affordable and actually went through some struggles to get it to work. Vargas started with a $9,00 budget, but actually has a $11,000 after selling parts from the car, and then bought top quality parts for pocket change and ported their own motor professional. I wanted Vargas to win, I'm sure he will, but I so appreciate Brad's build for being relatable and educational.
Everybody can sell parts off of their cars, and a big part of this is their skills and expertise. Most people watching this can't weld, can't fab, and can't even work on their cars for nearly the amount of time they've been putting it. Both of these builds are relatively unrealistic for an average person.

Quarter mile community is on the other side of the country and the nearest racetrack is the Ring, still 4 hours or so to drive there. Also you can go on the ring with your street legal car only I believe so it's difficult because street legal stuff has to be done by a professional and even then it might not get legal because you might have done too much to the car... I have a yearly hill climb near my place but of course you need a race driver certification for that (not hard to get but still you need to get one) and hill climb is no joke, you need high horsepower but also high safety equipment because you can die every second time you spin off (it's always rainy when the event is held) 😢

i think in future episodes, hoonigan should impliment a REAL PRICE rule, where if you personally know or have a relationship with the shop owner or person you are buying from, the parts have to be picked up by someone who doesn't know the person to ensure full price is paid, so we don't end up with $10,000 car vs $50,000 car.

Such a trip thinking back to watching these guys work in the warehouse without the containers or the fence, then build up from there to having so many segments. I saw about 10 burbs in the junkyard today. I also saw a MK-3 SUPRA with a 2JZ today and they wouldn’t sell me the car. I’m going back tomorrow and pricing every part to buy the whole damn thing one way or another.

They are smarter with their money, and they also aren't paying what most people would pay for anything because they are leveraging connections to get deals on parts. They had to know the guy who had that engine taking up space in his garage and they had to know the guy who had the wheels. All of that is something any builder can do though, it just takes time.

Should watch motortrends test on headers, its actually mindblowing how little the engine cares with fucked up headers

The clutch is literally fine. It had a little surface rust. That’ll rub off on first engagement
