DECADES!!!! A 1920's Flapper Party Roll Out (also awesome for this coming new year, of course! LOL) - Classic flapper outfits, suits - maybe do it as a 21 and up event and do a pub crawl...prohibition and all that. Hit 3 bars along the route (talk to them in advance, of course), those who want to get a shot at each bar/pub. An 80's "Material Girl" Roll Out - mesh clothing, lace gloves, jelly bracelets, Michael Jackson "Thriller" replica jackets, leg warmers, mullet wigs...) Etc.
Queer Girl Straight Skates What about like a Spooky Summer Rollout or a 90s kid rollout where everyone dresses like characters from their favorite 90s cartoon.
i just held my first roll out we started at our local roller rink went about 7 miles down to an amazing park had a barbeque and wrapped back around to the roller rink about 24 people showed up and it went amazing
Thanks just what I was looking for. I’ve been trying to promote skating in my community. Had a Christmas roll out last weekend and 4 of us skated. I’m also in the Midwest. It was like 46 degrees that day!
Oddly enough, I was just thinking this past weekend about doing one this coming spring! LOL (I hate living in the north. 4-6 months of snow and rain. YUCK!) There are a LOT of interested skaters at my local rink and I think a Roll Out would be a great way to "Roll Into Spring" (Yeah, I have to work on the "title" of it. LOL)...but we do have a pretty good skate community here. Many people - sadly - do still think "skating is for kids", but I keep noticing more and more adults at my local rink. One man was just there tonight with 2 of his girls (he has 6 kids, all girls, he was there with 5 of them Sunday and 3 of them Saturday)..maybe I just never noticed before and they were regulars before I was? I don't know, but there are a lot of regulars I talk to every day now. Some only come on a Friday night or Sunday afternoons, others come whenever it's open (like me and my girls)...but I think a roll out would be AWESOME here. The only issue is that our roads (and sidewalks) SUCK! LOL Planning a route isn't going to be easy.
Lol first I need human friends. Oh well. Being broke and bipolar doesn't make for good fun. I live vicariously through RUclips it seems. Y'all are so cool.
Betta Buddies I’m broke and got severe mental illness (I can’t live independently) and have plenty of friends - it’s hard work to maintain friends for sure when you’re so unreliable from mental illness but I pick my friends carefully! I also met more and more people The more I skated! 😊
@@MentalHealthJourney thank you for sharing that to me. I can work so I can't imagine how hard things are at your end. I'm happy to hear friends you've made are good peeps.
170 people?! The most We’ve had is 5!!! And we live in the 5th largest city in the UK! It’s so hard to roll out here for so many reasons but we’re determined to make it more of a thing this summer!
I'm hosting my first roll out for intermediate and advanced street skaters soon. Thoughts on making participants sign waivers? We don't want to be responsible for injuries!
Hi! They aren’t paying, it’s just a meet up of sorts open to everyone. You can put disclaimers “this is for advanced and intermediate skaters” skate at your own risk
This is great!!! If y’all don’t have anything do to do on 01/01/2020 y’all should come out to Village Park for a skate meet up celebrating the folks that are back on QUADS. This year a lot of us unfortunately broke our leg/foot and been off skates for some time now and it’s scary getting back on. So we’re hosting a day where new skaters and/or skaters getting back on quads to feel the love and support that this skating community has shown me. If you want more info please check out my Instagram @iilygraciie Love y’all and thank you so much for all the cool ass content 😍💕
might be a very stupid or at least "german" question, but do you usually have public restrooms on your routes? I was concerned about this when I wanted to plan my first roll out since I wanted to combine it with a picnic
Finding roll Outs can be tricky depending on where you live. Most cities - sadly - don't do them. Use the advice in this video to help kick one off yourself! As far as finding other skaters, become a regular at your local rink, if you have one. No rink? No worries. Go where the skaters are! You can have a "general" roll out (skaters, boarders, bikers and scooters) or look for other roller skaters in your area by haunting local parks, open areas (large, smooth parking lots or the like), skate parks, etc. to see if there are roller skaters you just haven't seen at those places before. Also, use social media to your advantage! Create a local page on FB for skaters, invite local friends/family and even if they don't skate/want to join, ask them to help you get the word out. Make a Twitter account along the same lines. Whatever social media platform/s you use most often. Heck, even here on RUclips. If you've got a camera, record yourself giving details...pick a theme or just put it out there as an "Everyone is welcome/Come skate!" message with the day, date, time, route, and whatever you plan on doing (skating from Point A to Point B, picnic, Skate back to Point A...Point A, restaurant, back to Point B...if you've got a local fair/festival, you could skate to/from the that, - bring backpack with shoes - enjoy the festivities, then skate back)...and have people contact you for more info. about it.
What ideas do you have for themed roll outs?

Been practicing most days during this pandemic and watching all your skate videos. Can't wait for this Summer's Roll out! 🦋
Thank you for this! I've got my family into skating & want to bring it to our small community. This seems like a great way to kick off this summer!
