I literally just ran into this issue on Monday when I got my tune done. I have the hellcat airbox on my scat since it was recommended to me and after researching a ton I decided it was the way to go. I have a bored and ported throttle body and catless mid pipes as well. Needless to say I was disappointed with the numbers. My tuner told me i need a AFE or JLT intake to see better gains with what I have. He said I would gain at least another 15 hp if I did. I had doubts with the tune and have been scratching my head with this but seeing your video just confirmed it for me. So thank you! Gonna pick me up a new intake now?

I was not told that the original hellcat filter was better, I only used the high flow K&N because that's what a lot of people wanted to see. I just did it because that's what the viewers wanted to see

Yo just got a widebody scat pack a few days ago, if you still have the Hellcat air box I'll take it! I'll probably get an AFE intake in the future too.

Hellcat air box takes advantage of "ram air effect". I don't think a static test will give the true story of what gains it will make when the car is actually moving. AFE may in fact make more power when the car is not actually moving through the air.. ....just my opinion
If you read my comment that I posted on the video we crammed a fan literally into the hellcat airbox giving it max air flow and it only picked up 1 more HP.
Gorgeous_Scat392 I still think real world testing gives more accurate results. Dyno results don't always translate at the track. Do some drag strip runs and compare numbers there. Peak numbers also don't tell the whole story as total power under the curve and shape of the curve has more meaning for performance. ( I admittedly did not watch the whole video and skipped around!) Not bagging on your video. I actually appreciate it. I have done some fairly extensive drag strip runs in both the 8th and Quarter mile with results that some thought were surprising because "peak Dyno numbers " seemed to add very little overall power! In any event keep putting up those vids!
No, the DA was close to the same on both days. I've been around this dyno enough to know that when the DA is close to the same you arent going to see a difference at all. Its pretty consistent.
Dude my air intake temps were really high with my afe so im sticking to my hellcat box and the afe is more hp because of the intake tube being bigger try hellcat throttle body with hellcat intake tube thats what my buddy did
Also, which AFE intake do you have? Did you pop out the light cap to allow air to flow in through the ram air whole? My temps were a lot lower with my AFE, I compared them in my recent AFE install video. The AFE was around 10 to 12 degrees lower.
We put a fan into the hellcat airbox while it was on the dyno giving it way more air than it woukd get on the street and it only made 1HP more. I did a review showing the air temps on the highway with the hellcat airbox and they were substantially higher than the AFE and JLT. Check out the JLT dyno video on my channel, it made more power than AFE.

If people can learn to keep their mouths shut and just present good content. I am not sure what the masses believe but in my case I would close the video immediately or fast forward when I hear "hey RUclips and bla bla bla..."

The hellcat throttlebody is way too big for the 6.4 hemi. My tuner says with my application nothing above 87 for my setup.

Could it be possible that the hellcat works better on the street where your actually driving into wind forcing more air in ?
