Thank you thank you.......been sitting for the last year to pull the trigger and do this mod but kept questioning why the that piece was so short.....I plan to do the same thing! Keep up the good work
Topside Jr I looked at hellcats and I figured out that it’s different because the hellcat has the heat exchanger and the area that is just brake duct on our cars is what I believe is and oil cooler on the hellcats. So it’s different for hellcats on the bottom. Many people have installed this top piece and just did away with the factory stock longer plastic piece and been fine. I just wanted to keep the airflow directed at the lower radiator with the factory stock piece so I cut it like i did in this video.
The Challenger Hellcat airbox is better than the Charger, here's why. The install is SUPER easy compared to this. Also the airflow is better, because it's completely open on the front. Great video sir! But I don't know if this is a mod I'll do, as it doesn't seem like it's worth my time.
J. Williams I hope to have cooler intake air temps with this box. I run about 7 to 10 above ambient while driving before. Haven’t even driven it yet to see the difference, but I sure it will be better.
LastHumansGarage if you were OK with just removing that stock piece and putting that half piece from the hellcat one on you would not have cut anything. I just didn’t want to do away with the lower piece of that factory plastic piece is Why I cut mine
i watched it all. so if you hadnt cut anything and removed your stock part, does that mean you would have lost the lower brake ducting, if that was part of that lower piece?? doesnt make sense that the hellcat would not have the lower brake ducting?
Triple Threat I just recently did it to my scat and normally my intake temps was 5-7 different from outside temps while cruising. With the new grill it’s about 3-4 degrees difference while cruising. Heat soaking is the same but temps drop extremely faster while cruising. Mine had heat soak to 130 in traffic it was 89 outside by the time I got moving again 2-3 miles down the road at 50-60 mph my temps was back to normal are 92 degrees.
It’s awesome because you get more cooler air forced in from the front then you would with just pulling air from the fender well. There’s no reason not to change the front grill, this video was made before the 2019 update.
I read that the Hellcat air filter makes a difference more then adding the snorkel. Also some people say if you don’t do a tune afterwards neither will make a difference. Not sure what to believe. I’m guessing that both box and filter won’t add more than 3 hp.
john K The thing about the tune Woodmore apply to a mass airflow car these cars are speed density which means they use a map sensor. Anytime you can free up airflow coming into and getting out of the engine you will gain some power. Every factory tune in any car has some adjustability built into the tune to make minor adjustments. That being said it’s not like you’re going to gain 10 or 15 horse power off of an air filter anyhow. I went with a K&n filter and this hellcat lower box and snorkel because I feel like it won’t flow a lot more air. I believe that because they use it on the hellcat which flows a lot more air.
@@just_a5.7 I would just used a K&N filter and not waste my money on buying a stock hellcat filter. There’s probably not much difference between it and the filter for the 5.7.
Would you recommend this or an afe momentum gt, I have a k&n cold air intake right now but with this hot tx weather im getting 40° over ambient with it being 100°+ outside and am looking to get it lower
The AFE will net you better intake temps by itself and this would just make it better. Faster recovery time after sitting at a light or slow speed cruising.
Interesting just bought a 2017 charger pursuit with awd hemi and it already has this setup. I'm curious if it's OE for squads or a later owner installed it.
MLance17 you don’t absolutely have to cut your factory piece like I did a lot of people just remove it and then replace it with the hellcat version on the upper only. Are used a big pair of kitchen shears to cut the factory piece on mine, and I didn’t mention the size of drill bit because it depends on what push pins you get. They can’t be too big. I just started with a smaller drillbit and went up in size until the plastic push pins pushed in but was still tight.
I have a 2019 Charger Daytona 392 in granite crystal metallic on order. Since the Daytonas come with the mopar CAI do you think I could just cut a hole and add the snorkel? If so what's the snorkel's part number? Thanks. good color choice BTW.
MvF JET If you wanted to just buy the snorkel and the front air dam piece I’m sure you could trace a circle on your airbox and cut the hole and put it in there. I zoom in on the part number for each part in the video. Or you can call or email Steve white parts and they will send you an invoice for both the pieces.
MvF JET you will need the plastic shield also because it has the square hole in it to direct airflow to the snorkel tube. It’s part number is. 68394595AB And the tube is 68424623AA
My 2022 charger had the hole in the stock lower air box, Now I just need to add the snorkel and change the upper and lower grill. Let’s see if the replacement K&N air filter helps a bit more
Yeah, they change things in the newer model years so it’s not that interesting. They do this across all manufacturers and cars as they’re using up parts or change settle things about the car that they don’t tell anyone about.
@@KnightsGarage Looks don't matter so much, hopefully would never have to take the front end off again. Could probably mould and seal the plastic to the snorkel for a transition.
Chris Walker Yes by the time you buy the stuff needed to mold and seal the snorkel to the factory plastic piece to try to get it right you could’ve just bought the piece you needed. I think it’s like $25.
Your not wasting any time modding. Keep the videos coming.
GA08GT thanks man. Hell I feel like I’m dragging my feet. Just having to wait on funds availability. Lol
Doing this is way better than buying aftermarket intake trust me I had both the Mopar hellcat lower box with snorkel is way more productive
Shawn Sykes yeah that’s kinda what I was thinking.

Project 392 Agreed! 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
i def wouldnt do this with all the hacking up etc. i'll just get a nice intake and be done with it. all this should have just bolted right up.

Thing looks sweet man, in my opinion I think it’s the best intake for this cars, the rest are just a waste of money and suck...
Agreed.
Nice install. Very informative.

Project ZL1 The Mopar Hellcat filter is a K&N?
john K no. I went with a K&n filter. The lower box and snorkel came on hellcats for better airflow.
@@KnightsGarage is it ok if i use the hellcat filter after this mod ? Or is they’re such a thing as too much airflow ?

Idk. I will have to try and look behind the grill of my 2020 pursuit and see if it already has this set up. I’ve not even paid attention to it really.
What size drill bit for the holes on the mod. And what did you use to cut the factory plastic?

Idk man. I’ve been out of the charger game for a couple years now brother.
Interesting how your stock box doesn’t have the front inlet hole

Would the intake box work just fine without the snorkel attached, or would it draw in hot air thru the opening?
All Hobbies in my opinion it would draw a lot of hot air in through that opening without the snorkel attached.
Project 392
Yeah I was afraid of that. Thanks for your reply.
Mateo Babic what cover are you talking about? If you call Steve white they can probably get you situated.
Will I be needing all of the parts I have 2019 scatpack with the snorkels or just inlet??? I got afe momentum air intake on the way
yaboy rj i thought the 2019 scat pack already had this? Is it not an open snorkel behind the opening in the grill?
@@KnightsGarage I'm not sure if it's functional tho
Knight's Garage nope. I have a 2019. No snorkel behind the extra opening
Can you do this upgrade with a 2016 Charger scat pack? Thanks in advance
I can’t see why not. Everything should be the same.
Did you have any issues with the headlight alignment?
DANNY25SS nope. Not at all.
Would it be possible to just cut a hole in the stock shield for the snorkel?

did you have to loosen the headlight??

@@KnightsGarage i think you did, i just couldn't find it when i went back, thanks for the reply
Kickin It Wit Mike no problem!
Can I put this on my 2018 Dodge Charger Daytona
Joe Willis I don’t think it would function properly because the Daytona has a different air box on it.
Can I do this to my 2019 Charger gt ?
11killmaster if it has this front end and the 6.4 or the 5.7 it should work.
probably but the v6 may not need the extra airflow. Remember, air velocity is important not just the volune of air available.
I cannot find that intake duct anywhere I need it lol
glock modder I have a link to the entire kit on eBay you may be able to go there and ask that company if they will just ship the intake duct.
@@KnightsGarage I tried the link it doesn't work but I did finally found it and it's 60$ thanks for the reply bro

does not work for 2018 and below daytonas
Didn’t Daytona’s get a mopar intake?
