    Liverpool were a winning machine during this era. I believe that they won the league for 3 seasons on the bounce - 82, 83 and 84 I think.
    It was a great time to be going to the game.

    Much better programme in those days. Good long highlights, limited action replays and no 'in-depth' analysis after each game.

    I was a Liverpool fan between 77-86. The Bob Paisley teams were amazing!

    John Wile was 35 years old on that day. For reference, thats the same age as David Silva is now. Fair to say players looked a lot older than their age back in those days.

      I saw Bobby Collins play for Oldham Athletic when he was 42, in the 1972-73 season.

    In the good old days when the 1st division actually was the first tier and the 2nd division actually was the second tier. Proper football played by decent blokes on a Saturday afternoon. Before money and diving ruined the game.

    I was at that West Brom v Liverpool game and it was an awful match until Rush popped up to warm our hearts on a freezing day.
