I’m sure being black anywhere isn’t safe however, both conditions can coexist I traveled to the UK for the first time and most interactions I had were with white individuals I often got lost needed information and every single person was very helpful, accommodating, I had a lot of luggage and people literally walked up to me and helped me with my luggage I mean multiple times so both conditions can exist at the same time.

I'm East European origin and live my whole life in Germany. The last week I spent in London with my boyfriend who is also "white" 😂 but also with migration background. At least I made the experience every time we had a question or needed help, black people were the nicest, modest and chilled and helping ones!!!! 😊 on the last day we missed our flight ✈️ and stood there 2 students and UK is pretty expensive for us. We really nicely tried to ask if there were a possibility to get rebooked, also to pay on top and didn't make any trouble cos it was our own fault. The first (white) lady sent us away, "go on the Internet.. " we tried it on our own but saw the next flight was just on the next day and 5 times more expensive 😢 I said to my boyfriend lets ask a black person... the woman from the staff was the nicest and dearest person and called someone and she could book us just on the next flight in the morning 😮 we were sooo thankful 🙏 cos it's not self-evident 🙏🙏🙏 God bless this woman ❤️

@@jaiiclipped805It’s not prominent but when it happens it’s really bad. The thing about the USA is gun violence, which is prominent amongst all its people.
USA has also had a more diversity than the UK since it’s “founding”. So the USA as a whole is much much more used to seeing differences amongst others and not freaking out about it.
43% of the population are people of color in the the USA. UK which is only 10% people of color.

I'm reading an old book which mentions US politicians didn't take to the UK very well during the war because they treated people from the US who were not of the majority too kindly. It mentions US gov wanting it's own troops who were stationed within the UK split up by culture or tone. Over the last twenty years the UK is becoming more multicultural as a result of alot of movement, so when you hear of issues it can also be between two groups originally from two different countries that don't make up the majority, but even when this is not the case, every single country will have people that accommodate and welcome you, and those that don't. Politics and social media may be helping to divide people of all kinds more, as everyone increasingly lives in their own bubble of shared groupthink, forever looking back and wanting that victim mindset which leads to resentment. Even when you take that out, cultures with strong beliefs will sometimes clash due to very different sets of morals within a society. The majority in the UK luckily don't belong to any such group, unless you end up an avid football fanatic

There is a black guy that worked with my husband, and he was from Africa. He would tell horror stories of how unsafe it was in Africa. How you couldn't drive past a certain time without a gun being on you, etc.... He regularly expressed how unsafe he felt in Africa, and how much safer he was living in the UK. He said he would never move back there.
I don't doubt that London isn't the safest place for anyone. But, it's not a good basis to judge the entire UK.
Edit; perhaps I should reiterate; if it's ridiculous to judge the entirety of Africa based on a person's experience in one area, then it is ridiculous to compare an unsafe place in the UK with its entirety. Feel unsafe in the UK? Try moving somewhere else in the UK. Feel unsafe in Africa? Try moving somewhere else in Africa. You can't all rush to defend Africa, when you can literally apply the same comments to the UK. Cheers.

A space that is multicultural in its inhabitants does not negate racism, the two can co-exist especially systemic racism. You look younger, perhaps teens?early 20s? Once you fully emmerse in society there will be moments upon moments and you'll realise how the system works. I've both seen and experienced over and over and I tell you no lie soooo...

One lived with his wife on a predominantly black street, but were terrorized/bullied out of the area because they were the only white people on that street.
My other uncle was stabbed and cut into pieces in his own flat - frequented pubs where he was the only white man there - We never found out who did it or why but have good reason to suspect he was murdered for not caring about the social norms of staying away from these places as a white man.
