The first pickup I ever installed was a Screamin Demon. I initially wired it out of phase, which actually sounds pretty cool with that pickup. Then I fixed my error, and I loved that pickup ever since.
I know what you mean with the low end. The Screamin Demon got really good attack in a mix. More of a chunk than a thump. Which is excellent for the bassist! If you're going to shred metal, staying out of the Bass' mix makes things a lot easier during mixdown. :)
Great pickup review!! The Screamin' Demon is my favorite pickup ever (Been using it in my main guitars since 1999). It has a very particular voicing and attack. My favorite thing about it is the transient and harmonic content. It may not be hot, but it sure screams.
I have a few SuperStrats with various pups in them. (Bare Knuckle, EMG, DiMarzio, SD...) Hands down my two most favorite are the SD RTM and the Screamin Demon. Totally opposite sides of the output spectrum, I know, but those guys know tone. In Warren and George We Trust!
This pickup sounds so good in my Jackson that I am going to put it in all of my guitars! The clarity and bite is better than any other pickup on the market!
Some people speculated that the SD is basically a low wind JB with a hex coil. The low end kind has a similar character. I have one and it’s a very decent pickup.

Great demo man, I think this might be exactly what I’ve been looking for to replace the JB in my carvin dc
GL - Legit guitar Legend. 🇺🇸🎸🔥🤘🏻

Thanks for answering my question! AlNiCo magnets are shinier than ceramic magnets 👍. Also great demo!
Gotta wire the north finish and south finish together to get total dc resistance
Love the SD , have one a guitar of mine . If ever get the chance try out the Arcane Mr. Scary, excellent pickup 👍🏽
The growl in the low rhythms is very distinct .....where most of the others I can't tell the difference..I couldn't find any 2 yrs ago
Also used by the frontman of Airbourne. So it's definitely not only metal. A5's are just a jack of all trade imo :) ('s why I got 4 of them)
good review of pkup.the GL purple tiger is my favorite one..
Lynch has been one of my favorites FOREVER.
LOVING what this sounds like.
What are you playing through, BTW?
My favorite alnico mag is A4. Perfectly balanced
Seems like would be good for amp Sims if it's very neutral
Great review, I got the Demon in a guitar I bought and I was surprised how much I like it!
Great demo! Definitely sounds better in the mix. A little too bright for me alone.

Worst pickup I've ever had
