Myself and a small group of car guys fought hard for years to get local tracks and events opened up to drifting. We founded the drift scene where I live and gave people a place to do it safely and legally. Our motto was "Save it for a track day"... We didn't want anyone, a bystander, innocent family driving home, or anyone else getting hurt or killed.
These guys don't want to do it safely. They want to engage in ghetto trash behavior that just so happens to include cars.
Nice work! Keep it up! No one is against people having fun doing an activity or sport they like. But just like you said, do it in the correct place.

Back in the 90s I got off work on Brokaw, drove home to downtown. At the last second the police forced me back onto the freeway because they didn't want gangs cruising the neighborhoods. I damn near ran out of gas when they tried to force me back on the freeway the second time around. Took me 90 minutes to get home that night. They were out of their minds.

Excellent work! They dont know how much damage it does to the asphalt so with its a great way to get that money back. Also the fact that they caught so many minors, these cops were absolutely looking at EVERYONE's ID. Glad they called the parents and impounded the cars.
The trouble is, those parents aren’t likely to do anything, except fight the tickets.
I'm hoping they start doing mandatory 30-day impounds. Most wouldn't be able to afford to get it out.
They don't come do it during the day. It's after midnight sometimes, and they have no regard for the residents who have to go to work. They block off intersections, and if you happen to pull up to the light right before they start, you're stuck until they're done spinning.
If they had any brain's they would take this out to the desert to not draw so much attention.

Knowing they are inconveniencing other traffic, disrupting the night rest of nearby residences, blatantly disregarding laws and authority, that's what makes it fun for them.

How is spectating a crime? What did they issue the tickets for? Also how are you being classed as a spectator? Surely it's quite easy to just say one was driving down until they had to stop at a blocked intersection?

If you got caught in traffic you're in your car. If you're a spectator you had to go back to your car.

likely by viewing the social media, and phone video. If I was stuck in traffic, and the cops gave me a ticket by mistake, I'd take the hit ( in the moment) just to get the little freaks off the road, then give proof I wasn't a spectator to a judge.
If you happen to get stuck in this mess and get a ticket I would think they would let it go if you show a schedule proof you just got off work and were on your way home,
I got a ticket like this once about 10 years ago. I fought it and got it dismissed cus there’s no way they can prove you were spectating.
Many who show up in court will probably be able to get it dismissed. But you still had the inconvenience of having to show up in court. Also, if you end up getting another spectator ticket down the road, chances are less likely it will get dismissed. Courts don't find people innocent, they find them not guilty!
