  • The New River Gorge Bridge is a steel arch bridge spanning over the famous New River Gorge in Fayetteville, West Virginia. It towers 876 feet over the gorge and is 3,030 feet long. Built back in 1977, it was the longest steel arch bridge in the world at the time and remains one of the highest and longest in the U.S. It remains as the Western Hemispheres longest arch bridge. It turned a 45 minute drive into less than a minute from one side to the other. To get access to an incredible overlook of the bridge, you will have to take Long Point Trail. Long Point Trail is a 3 mile hike round trip and offers a breathtaking view of the New River Gorge Bridge. The terrain is a mix of uphill, roots, steep inclines and rocky sections and is considered a moderate hike. Once you reach the end of the trail, you are met with a stunning view of the bridge and surrounding gorge.
