This is the video I needed! I was just about to send mine back because I don’t like complicated stuff. You made it all so simple. Great teacher. Thank you !
In an emergency to get help, you can legally broadcast on ham radio without a license. If you're going to use your radio in a vehicle, you can get a magnet mount antenna to put on your roof and attach it to your radio to extend the range. When you get out, simply unscrew that and put your whip antenna back on.
I got a couple of the UV5Rs and they work great! I also have the BF888S radios that don't have a keypad but are programable with software. Good for camping and stuff like that.
The best two pouches for baeofengs are the tactical tailor and Beez combat systems. Both are designed specifically for the baeofeng with extended battery
So if I buy 2 of the boafang uv-5r radios give one to my friend in Eastern wa can I talk to him when I'm in western washington as long as I tell him to put it to the right channel like he did in the video.

I’m here to learn quick. Thanks for turning off the annoying stuff! You were funny too 😂 got mine May 2023 and they don’t have the “power on sound” after I turned off voice and beeps. Woohoo!

I never thought about one of these until I saw this video. Might be a good idea to have one in the vehicle and one at the house just in case some super shit happens
These are a line of sight radio.. you will likely not be able to communicate across town or over the distance of several blocks from your vehicle to home

I think you will need a Radio Operators license to broadcast to a repeater. You can listen but cannot broadcast. But theoretically if there is a line of repeaters between u and him then u could reach eachother.
@Omerta1285 thanks for the response. So if I was in Eastern WA amd my wife was in western washington amd if I had a bolaofeng uv5r and I left another bolaofeng uv5r turned on with the volume up could my wife hear me if it needed to tell her about an emergency and she could do the same if there was an emergency on her end. In other words all I have to do it turn on the bolaofeng uv5r then put the right channel in and I can start using it but it would be illegal until I get a ham radio license?
We use them for small team tactics. We have little care for the license. Truth be told ham operators are the very reason we have licensing schemes and restrictions on radios. They want to keep people out of thier gay little community
Technically a license is not needed if you are using it for walkie-talkie type purposes only, and broadcasting without a license is allowed only in an emergency situation where "human life or protection of property" is at stake, according to the FCC.
"If you have on your back well thats what you have team mates for, if you dont..." well if one doesnt, then why are they running comms. If I dont have teammates, thats my own choosing and it would behoove me to ditch comms altogether. just my thoughts... 🤔
Emergency services and FEMA uses some ham frequencies as well. You can listen in. That would be a reason to have a radio if you're alone. Just a thought, but you do you.
@@RTTGunsGear Pros and cons to both, i guess it depends on the situation. I will have to think about this more. Thanks for the video btw, one of the most streamlined ones ive seen so far. 👍
If I turn off “voice” I’m losing the only thing dat worx. It’s the only sound (beeps aside) dat resembles a human. This device sux. Is a waste of $ n time. Buy bullets. They’re louder, n speak all languages.

I still need to get some and like you ... Papers, what fucking papers!

Great radios and video my friend programmed them for me but I didn't have time to play with them
Nice and straightforward, and liked what you had to say about it. Thanks for posting.

I like to program local Fire/EMS, Weather Radio, local repeaters, then the GMRS frequencies just for a base of frequencies.

Might be worth noting.... always use an antenna when transmitting. Without an antenna it can allow signal to reflect back into the radio and cook it.
Somehow I was able to get that initial beep turned off.

Awesome Video making it caveman simple!!
I have that same radio and went with a longer antenna. The range is decent but I am curious to what antenna you prefer
Coms Solid... .. AlphaCharlieEcho
What type of microphone is that I have tried the baofeng microphones and had bad luck with them yours looks different than the ones i got?
The Baofeng brand ones are trash. This one is a Btech. I've had good luck with them. I have a couple.
@@RTTGunsGear Thanks I will give the Btech a try

At the price range you can carry a 2nd one in the field in case one goes to shit on you.
brother have you ever heard of Lysol wipes?....that thing is filthy, I can even see the dog hairs on it
