  • Transform a t-shirt into a Halter Top! No sewing involved.
    More about the campaign:
    -The vast majority of fabric can be recycled, yet 85% of all textiles made end up in landfills each year.
    -That's 11.1 million tons, the equivalent of over 70 billion t-shirts.
    -DoSomething.org, one of the largest organizations for young people and social change, and H&M are teaming up to get young people across the country excited about clothing recycling and sustainable fashion through a campaign called Comeback Clothes.
    -From April 10 to June 20, young people can collect old and worn-out clothing in their schools and communities and drop them off at the garment recycling boxes in any H&M store.
    -Any unwanted textiles from any brand and in any condition will be accepted. H&M will send these clothes to a recycling facility, where they will be given a new life.
    You can sign up at: Comeback-Clothes.com
    -To make a brand new pair of jeans-to grow the required cotton and to produce the denim -takes 1,800 gallons of water. That's more than enough to take a ten-minute shower every day for a month.
    This video gives me chills: about.hm.com/en...

    another really cool thing to do is make a quilt out of them. in the olden days that's how people recycled old clothes and bits and pieces..they were awesome. i had the privilege of owning one on my grand mother's quilt (it got destroyed in a fire). I miss it

    hi april! if ever you come to the philippines, you'll find awesome cheap clothes that costs only $5, sometimes the one that i saw on your videos only costs cents here in the Philippines. In our country, it's called ukay ukay and the other one is called over-runs. hope you'll come here soon for your thrifted creations/recycled!
    love lots from Philippines

    To ease your mind about clothes in land fills the millions of clothes that goodwill can't sell in the states get sent to poorer countries to be sold and what still doesn't sell gets shredded and turn into insulation for homes, and houses don't care about fashion that much. My sister recently went to Nicaragua and discovered this.

    • @coolirpa
      @coolirpa  10 лет назад +2

      Haha yes! Thats why its even important to recycle scraps because they can always be used for something else :)

      It is kind of good that people get our old clothes we don't want, but it is also bad because it means people won't buy other clothes, which puts other people out of business.

    For the first two halters, if you have a shirt large enough so that your hips could fit though the neckhole, you could use the scraps for a skirt by cutting along or breaking the seams to the sleeves of the t-shirt to create a up-down skirt
