Love both of the tops. 💞. The red and black definitely looks better without the red down the side. I think you would still feel like you have to be at the car wash 🪣 if you have the red down the sides, lol! I absolutely adore you and your videos! I have been a seamstress for nearly 60 years. I am still learning every day! I thank you for being part of everyone’s sewing journey. Happy stitches.💖🪡🧵
Safelight repair, Safelight replace! 😂 I love the idea of easing the extra in with the armbands. I had a knit pattern that had darts but it looked stupid, so I unpicked it (a job, that was) and did some gathering instead. It worked. There was absolutely no need for that dart.
The "fixing your windshield" got me every time. I'll still be here if you start Catherine Auto Shop 😂❤ The red stripe i agree on the side ot would've been too much, but i wonder how it would've looked if it was made part of the back/racerback 🤔 Excellent content as usual and excellent timing, was literally talking today about turning some of my sports tshirts into tanktops 😃👍
I like the polo shirt as a tank idea - thanks to whomever suggested it! I would only have used the red if I could turn it into a princess seam, otherwise meh.
Catherine you might be right about the windshield thing. Here in Cape Town South Africa it's a security company that use that design. And I do suspect there's a car place with the same color scheme. Some things are universal it seems. :-)
Hi Catherine, thanks for making this video! I tried to convert a t-shirt into a tank recently using my serger to hem the arm holes. (The basic hem where you fold it like you're doing a blind hem, except you just regularly serge it with the knife on). I had a hard time easing the fold around around the arm hole, especially at the bottom of the hole, and I snagged a few puckers as I serged it. The bottom of the hole was so wonky, serged a side seam up the tee (it was a tube-loom style) to cut out the worst of it. Was this just an ill advised way to finish the arm hole? If not would you consider making a tutorial? Thanks!
I’ve just watched both of your racer back videos and I’m still a little confused about how you spaced the armhole band so that it was tighter through the front so you could ease the shirt fabric instead of putting in a bust dart. Usually you quarter mark bands and then the band is stretched so the ease is evenly distributed. With a racer back I would think there would have been an unequal amount between the front and back armhole measurements with the back length longer than the front therefore you would have had to ease more of the armhole through the back than the front. Even with a regular tank (not racerback) and you wanted to ease the front instead of placing a dart, how would you distribute the armhole band? Being a larger-breasted woman, I would probably need to ease in even more fabric to try and eliminate puckering in the front of a tank top. Also, could you ease a sleeve in the front bust area to eliminate a dart? Love your videos!! Thx!
I like it better without the red sides and piping. They look great on you. However, I don't wear sleeveless blouses, shirts or dresses (because of my ugly upper arms). I call all that loose skin under my upper arms my MUD FLAPS. I shouldn't get any mud in my eyes if I ever have to run through mud.
I thrifted 3 men's shirts today and told the cashier about your channel. We agreed the men's shirts seem higher quality. She wrote down your channel name and wants to see if she can do the same.

Love the faces you make as you're problem solving 🙂
I like how both tops turned out. I especially like that you didn't add the red fabric to the sides of the one top. Great designing. 👏👏👏😘
Two weeks ago I started easy balance exercises. On my errands in town, I already notice improvement! Yay! I am 70 and balance is critical.
This is might be my favorite tutorial. I have a lot of tshirts that I don't want to part with, but I don't wear. This will refresh my wardrobe!!
I love how both of them turned out. I'm going to give this a try. Thanks

Haha, right!? I don't like seeing darts in knits at all!
Just what I needed to figure out how to turn a men's bike jersey into one that fits me. Love the way you finished the last shirt's arm holes.
I always love how you work thru each step.
Loved both of these. I have a tee with a neck that's too high, so thank you
Always great flipping ideas and great instructions! Love them both. And I would NOT have done red down the sides of the polo.
Genius idea for bust fullness! “Surprisingly great” 😂
Definitely no red in the side seam, in my opinion😀. I love the collar on the second, not what I was expecting but looks great.
Wow great up-cycling! Love them both. I do agree the red on the sides would have been too much. Cute!
Wow! I love this tutorial. I’m going to have to go to the thrift store!
These both came out so well! Super cute!

Haha, I'm glad to have my first windshield customer! Thanks!
Great job both shirts looked fabulous Catherine thank you 👏🏻😊
Both are cute, but the poloshirt suits you more attractive, especially by making your hair up, it looks gorgeous on you 👍😉👍 !!
wow, nice job! I love your glasses btw, I forgot to tell you that today while having so much fun thrifting!!!!
Due to wide shoulders and flabby upper arms, I would not wear that style, but they both look great on you! Another informative video.
Thanks! I LOVE you!! Exactly what I needed!!
Roberta, thanks so much! That is super gratifying and makes my day!!

No red down the side. It looks good without the red
Wow! Amazing upcycle
I've been upcycling my old clothes thanks to your videos. Thank you so much! Any ideas for turning tshirts into something you can wear at the office?
Thanks! I'll give. your T-shirt question some thought!
@CatherineSews Yes please. That would be great!
❤️
I do really love the collared one :)
Great technique as usual.
Think about putting the white piping around the placket
Great video. Thanks.
Hooray!
My favorite bits are always 'cut off the excess' and 'serge these seams'! So satisfying
Wooooot!
You oversized red and black looked familiar. Then I got to work and saw the security gaurds jacket
Oh, funny! Is that what it is!? I didn’t feel like a security guard in it, lol, just a windshield repairman.

No to adding the red. They both look so good.

Looks great 👍
I challenge you to upcycled thrifted items into a formal gown.

Thanks. 🇨🇦

That's so cute!!!
You could of used the red panels to trim the armholes for a nice contrast look.
I love this idea, but the stretch would going the wrong way. 😞
The Chinese on the shirt top 2 characters means New York. The smile words mean New York City never sleeps.
Oh thank you! That’s so cool!!
You are adorable and entertaining. thankyou
I love your videos.
So do you make the bands 2 inches shorter than both the arm and neck wholes for both tops?
❤❤
I didn’t quite understand the part about understitching….it was difficult to see where you stitched that line 🤔
I know, right!? I think I’ll make a short video and do a small sample of that in contrasting fabric so you can actually see what the heck is going on!
@@CatherineSewsI had to rewind and watch a couple times to try to see what you were doing. I think (?) I got it.
I'm going to copy the shape of my exercise bra to make the racer back.

You could get rid of the logo with an arty red appliqué design.
I vote no red on the side! Cute.
"PromoSM" 🤣
