- A six-month trial of a new bike lane down the middle of San Francisco's Valencia Street is causing a lot of pain for businesses and worry for some cyclists as they maneuver in and out of the bike lane into traffic lanes. One business owner goes on a hunger strike to protest the bike lane cutting down on business.

Keep it up SF. You're imploding from within.
Stupid inept MTA can’t admit their design is an utter disaster.
The MTA hierarchy is made up of people who are human trash and they`ll hire just about anyone. One time when it was raining heavily and there was a black out within several blocks, this MUNI bus driver whizzed by me as if he were on a NASCAR track and missed me by about a yard.
Won't even fix a pothole.. . & Dont give a damn bout businesses.... Where is ALL the money 💰💰💰 goin?
In the pockets of the politicians and their respective bureaucracies and 1 perfect example of that was when they had these construction crews on Potrero street fixing the many old potholes and cracks, but they would never finish completetly because the DPT would always take a cut from the federal stipend they`d get for the repairs. I talked to a worker that worked on this and he was pretty sure that`s what was going on.
All politicians and people in involved in politics are always gonna be corrupt because people that aspire for political power ARE mentally corrupt, that doesn`t matter if they are libtards, conservative nationalists, socialists or whatever. Having political beliefs makes people be irrational, liberticidal and despicably inferior beings.
Marketing can't compensate convenience
It’s a waste of money
You put millions of dollars to make a problem then billions of dollars to solve problem you created THE SAN FRANCISCO WAY OF DOING THINGS 😂😂
2:03 to 2:11 Motor-Psychos riding in BICYCLE lanes are the greatest problem in this video
Great reporting Tom, thanks for pointing out some of the statistics of bikes to cars ratio.
Unfair comparison, the bike lane is half the width of the car lanes
It's for bikes coming and going dummy
And that's not including the parking spots the cars need
just sf things
What a joke dirt bikes riding down the bike lane during the interview 😅
Shops: Your idiotic bike lane is bankrupting us.
City: Just shut up and pay the taxes!
Shops: We're shutting down our businesses.
City: Dear residents, due to an unexpected decrease in commercial tax revenue your taxes will increase.
Yeah, as a resident of S.F. I can testify to the city government having that type of over-the-top greed that is usually attributed to those of the yuppie Jewsih classes
The bike lane belong B E T W E E N the sidewalk and the parked cars then the car roads down the center, they’ve done it in other parts of sf.
Rotten
crime is legal in san francisco?
Great example of that it's always less smart/educated people working in the government than the private sector! People take government jobs to get the pension, rightfully so, but the motivations are different. Was a resident of SF for 15 years, never been more happier after moving to Marin! I see my taxes well spent in Marin compared to SF.
imagine that .... an SF disaster created by the SF gov.
when chasing that Silicon Valley money becomes the only goal... gotta love that greed, and them legalized bribes (contributions).
IT'S NOT RED vs BLUE, IT'S THE RICH vs ME & YOU!
All governments are disastrous because they are based on the irrationality of political beliefs. It`s not like governments from other cities ARE`NT disastrous.
San Francisco doesn’t care about workers or small businesses and that first bike rider is a jerk.
By telling you the hard truth
Mike also believes “men can give birth” and he isn’t gay for dating a Transformer Person….
I think it has more to do with the high prices these businesses are charging. Delivery can always be done on bikes and e-bikes
@@tuber6382 The harder you make it to drive, the less likely people are to visit that area. I haven't been to Valencia in months because it's a mess and the already hard to park situation has become a lot worse. So I just avoid it. I'm not going to get on muni and then walk 10 blocks from vanness or castro station like they envision people will do. Nobody has that kind of time to waste when a 1 bedroom is renting for over $3000. Too busy with work to waste time.
@@heyaisdabomb I was the the other day saw plenty of people walking and parking 🤔
outrageous that small minorities in the city can dictate policy that devastates the lives of hardworking families.

@@blindvisionary415 you nailed it.
Well all bureaucracies ARE minorities and governments SOLELY represent the JAP & WASP yuppie minorities who rule this country
It`s like that everywhere that is a classist political society. The only people that SF politicians represent are the yuppie, WASP & JAP minorities as they own the and rule the country.
And it`s also a fact that politicians keep making these irrational desicions because people are too complacent and resigned to do rebel.
@@blindvisionary415 Marxist exploitation theory, hooray. Let's all be equal. Equally poor and miserable, living on government handouts. Nobody NEEDS to own a buisiness in SF. Property is theft. You'll give it up voluntarily or they'll ruin you with bike/bus lanes.
Water and juice strike is wild when u need to lose weight anyway
I think everyone on the comments agree 👍 this was a waste of money, can’t find parking 🅿️ . And I’m not walking 2 blocks for parking,so my car can get broken into .It a waste of money, like the half a million dollars for a Porto potty 🚽 in the city
So the 95 cars vs 32 bikes comment does not make sense to me as a reason for needing more car lanes. The bike lanes take up half the space of the car lanes, and the car lanes have car parking lanes by it. Counting the car parking lanes, the cars are taking 4 times the space of the bikes, but there are only 3 times the amount of cars.
Hopefully when issues with the bike lanes are addressed, there will be even more people using the bike lanes
Edit: apparantly 50% if the local community in that area don't even have cars. Don't understand how they can blame their suffering business on not enough car lanes/ parking.
Japan does not have these problems.
Who cares?
That`s most likely because they`ve been riding bicycles a lot longer and don`t have as many centralized bureaucracies in dealing with local matters. Am just guessing, but I feel that the high level of "politicism" that revolves around this is ridiculous when it`s obvious that the majority of the plebian voice of the Valencia corridor don`t want this. Its` dangerous for cyclists and bad for small businesses
thats because japan has walkable cities
What a clown, dying for a city built for cars not people. Marketing their business as victims is shure to boost their sales
Cars existed before city's you know
sure
@quesadilla...the only clown here firing from both orifices is you, who don't want to acknowledge a failed experiment 🤡🙄.
@@rickyfox67 That`s regardless and doesn`t make you exempt to you respecting others on the road.
@@emilioaymat5651 what
We prefer cars over bikes because you can see many cars and very few bicycles. There are Hippies who dream of all of us on bikes.
YOU prefer cars!! Don`t speak for others! I ain`t no fuckin` hippy and ride an electric bike and if you don't respect me on the road and hit me, I`ll come at ya with either a metal baton or sue ur ass badly so watch ur step or FO and don`t drive in S.F.!!👊
Watching Democrats destroy San Francisco is like watching pigeons playing chess ♟️
City will just see the tickets given as revenue. They don’t give a F about the city and its functionality or small business’s.
As a resident and cyclist, I feel for our local business people, but at the same time, I think the main problem is the economy going down the drain, not the bike lanes
The bike lanes are still a problem because they affect our lives in the here and now and those middle lanes ARE dangerous to cyclists like us but the economy is always gonna be shitty, specially if you`re of the poorer social classes.
Despite S.F. being a liberal city, it`s still run by politicians and people with political minds think irrationally because politics IS irrational and that`s why they make stupid desicions. Plus their power corrupts their minds (or lack thereof). The economy is always gonna go down the drain because modern civilization is a pathogenic entity -- always dying and infecting
Honestly as a cyclist I don't like the idea of these lanes because there is little consistency. I feel like that lane just will bring in other uneducated cyclists or those who are unfamiliar with riding on streets amongst cars and traffic. I've seen so many cyclists advocate for our rights but then break all kinds of laws like biking through red lights for small intersections. You wouldn't do it in your car, what then gives you the right to do it on your bike. Cycling on the proper side of the road should be common sense but you still see people doing it all over. Then in turn I see motorists unwilling to share the roads with this behavior only making it worse.
We need more advocacy for better driving and more education amongst cyclists and drivers alike.
The DMV needs to have a LOT more discretion as to who they give licenses to cuz since DMV is also a for profit bureaucracy, they don`t care who`s on the road, just as long as they get their registration fees, ticket fees and so forth and I mention this cuz there`s real nutcases and blind geezers that should NOT be driving and are dangerous behind the wheel.
And the justice system is also way too lenient on yuppie drunk drivers. They usually get handslap sentences because the justice system is classist and goes easy on the powerful and rich.
I'm something of a cyclist myself
Delivery guy crying for getting tickets for parking in the cycling lane ? I think all the delivery guys just assume the cycle ling lanes are there for double parking , doing deliveries , having meet ups , taking breaks .
So where are they supposed to park, please explain?
@@mn925_ In a PARKING SPOT . It's self explanatory .
@@mn925_ obviously not in a bike lane
He's not a delivery guy. He is a cafe owner who has to park somewhere on the street to bring goods to his shop. If there are no parking spots, where is he supposed to park?
@@theotheleo6830 A parking spot .
This is not a good idea. That's a lot of traffic congestion and parking problems. Business killing problems. Not fair to the little guy.
Lol this guy is a joke hunger strike on juice
Everyone in SF is woke like that first bike rider
Am not woke nor PC and I live in S.F. so STFU w/your stereotypes. And f**k ALL you "political" peeps!!
Am not. Am anti-political because I recognize the fact that politicism is liberticidal and irrational and people w/political values are mindless and inferior human trash.
Stick ur stereotypes where the sun don`t shine. You obviously don`t live in S.F. and cuz it`s obvious ya don`t know WTF you`re talkin` about
75% to 90% yes, depending on the neighborhood.
I grew up in that area of San Francisco and I would ride my bike on Valencia St without the bike lanes and the reason for the lanes is because of a new religion called "Climate Change" to make the libertards happy!
You couldn't use the bike lane because drivers kept parking it in
City care more of the bikers then small businesses 😡
You are using bikers as scapegoats.
The problem is, they don't care about bikers. While doing this debacle of a bike lane and wasting almost a million dollars, the vast majority of bike lanes are left unprotected and nothing is being done to keep cars out of them. It's the worst of all worlds...
open your eyes! The City cares more about Silicon Valley money, so they put the interests of start ups like bike and scooter share companies, instead of residents including small businesses. Stop just complaining, and actually figure out what and who are the real problems.
@@jillbelas7266 The bike lane is the problem. Who do you think lobbied to create it? Drivers?
@@theotheleo6830 How the fuck are bikers making the restaurant suffef?
You can thank the bike coalition for ruining that street.

They opposed that lane too. -- Get your facts str8
This is sf for you where cyclist are more important then small business and are above the law. cyclist ARE SUPPOSE OBEY THE SAME TRAFFIC LAW AS MOTOR VECHILE. But beside giving cyclist ticket sfmta instead made these stupid bike lanes waste of money.
Waaaaah waaaaah waaaaah my parking
I’m trying to understand how SF spent 10’s of millions studying , planning , designing , building and overpaying for the building of massive bike lanes that are occupied by bicyclists who don’t spend more than $20 a week at the local businesses they pass on their way to do drugs at the park and drink cheap beer they got at BevMo. The city can burn . Their politicians are morons ! Bikers don’t pay for infrastructure or insurance or registration. Nothing commits them to be ‘participants ‘ in the expense of running and operating an expensive formerly nationally acclaimed city .
It is time to ban all cars from SF before it's too late.
That`s not a good or practical idea.
The bike lane is great we should make all streets like that in San Francisco. People in San Francisco should not and do not even need cars
While I'm a biker who wants better bike infrastructure, you have to look at this from others perspectives. What about people who can't walk? What about the elderly? What about the rich, which is an ever rising portion of the population? What about those of us who live on the west side that can't take bikes on the train and aren't going to climb the mountain to go to dinner?
@@heyaisdabombwon't somebody think of the driver 😢
Small thinker.
The bike lane on Valencia St. is NOT great. It fuckin` sucks! The 2 main reasons being that if you are getting on it from the sidewalk, you constantly have to look out for cars whereas in the past when the lane was parallel to the sidewalk you would`nt have to worry about that and the other reason [from a cyclist POV] is that if you are using that center lane and you have to turn, you have to be very careful to not get run over by one of those redneck dirtbags from the suburbs that come here just to annoy people
Voting has consequences 🤡's.
