I've only just discovered Jawbreaker. Man I've been missing out!!
Ive been listening to Jawbreaker since i was .....14 or 15? Im now 40. I met them in March of 2019...It was like i was a teenager again. The greatest moment of my life. Theres really no point to what im saying...lol..just saying.. these guys are legends.

Yeah his voice sounds really good in this, but you can definitely tell he's straining to get those notes out

He had surgery for polyps and I think he didn't want to risk losing his voice. I think with age the gruffness of his early Jawbreaker singing voice came back.

Unfun was easily their best album IMO. Dont get me wrong the other stuff is great too, but theres just something special about Unfun

As much as I'm happy they got back together, I'm a little disappointed they never play anything from their early recordings. I wore the groves out on my Unfun album. I bought the Whack & Blite EP from the guy mentioned here 07:10 (David Hayes...apparently, he broke their scissors?) who had just left Lookout records to start Very Small Records...he had a handful of the Whack & Blite 7"s on marble vinyl... His label was re-releasing it. I was stoked he sold me it, but never imagined how much I'd love this band going forward... they don't have an album I don't like, but I do have a fondness for the older stuff & really hope they do a few of those songs in the future.
Would love to see eye-5 live or maybe Down, fantastic planet would also be amazing in 2023
I've been to primavera 6 times but this is about the only show and band whose lyrics I was going to sing along from song 1 to 15 :) had I only been there this time :/

The first pro shot live performance of Jawbreaker and it's like they didn't do any post production mixing. The sound engineer needs to be slapped in the face....Twice.
for a live recording it doesn't sound bad in my opinion, i've head much worse, it all depends if they recorded the mixing board output or if they recorded the multitrack and mixed it "poorly" later

Obviously there's been "much worse". However "much worse" shouldn't be a metric in determining the sound quality of this video. That would be like implying that getting your pinkie finger chopped off isn't that bad because getting your thumb chopped off is "much worse."
As for the recording and mixing process: Who knows what the hell went wrong. In most cases at festivals like these the people who work them fucking suck at their jobs and somehow manage to turn great art into a steaming pile of dog shit. Which is funny because when considering just how good audio and video technology has become in the last decade, there really shouldn't be anymore excuses. I can't imagine just how incompetent a person would have to be to fuck something like this up. I really hope whoever was in charge of the production didn't get paid because they honestly should have been slapped in the face....Twice.
Not only is the audio shit but the video is sub-par at best. They got one camera man next to the drummer for the entire show. It seems he never moves from this one position while another camera on a track just pans from side to side. Repetitive, bland, boring and dull.
Jawbreaker is a legendary band that countless people have been waiting to see for over a decade. And this is the video we get? Fuck whoever was in charge of this video. Fuck them with a million demon dicks from hell. I could have done a better job with a group of my drunk friends.

They change the set every night mate. I saw them in London a few weeks ago, no Want or Fireman. The next night in Manchester, they opened with Want. I was at Primavera too, buzzing to finally hear Fireman live!

Sam Vile You do know that that a monitor mix and a foh mix are completely different, right? There is no situation in which a person would want to hear a foh mix in their ears. Never. Ever.
@@Ama749 No one is even talking about in ears, as no one on stage is using them. You can be old and diy all you want, but that doesn't change the fact that you should know the difference between ears and wedges. Each musician clearly has wedges at their feet. Primavera is an A list festival with highly capable techs, certainly capable enough to mix Jawbreaker's monitors. What you're hearing in this video is a board take of the show, with some audience mic mixed in after the fact to give it a more authentic feel (the right thing to do). What you're NOT hearing is the actual FOH mix the crowd is hearing. So for all of you shitting your pants that the sound is bad, shut up. This board take is EXACTLY what Jawbreaker sounds like, something all you keyboard audio experts would know if you had ever actually heard their records. PS, the Kerouac noise is likely being triggered by JB's FOH as Adam is clearly not doing it. PPS, if anyone can tell me what snare Adam is using I'd appreciate it.

They got absolutely screwed by the sound guy. Drums + vox way too loud and guitar + bass way too low. Exposes Blake's imperfections in his voice a LOT and it's pretty hard to listen to
