- Hi guys! For today's video I decided to paint an still life of a candle on top of books. I tried using autumn colours again, to get the cozy feeling, but you can still customise it according to your tastes! I also got teeth aligners when I was scheduled to voice over this video, so it was still a bit uncomfortable to talk. I hope you guys don't mind the subtitles instead of the voice over as I was painting, and enjoyed the music with the video. Happy painting everyone! ^_^

Nia, another beautiful painting!! Because you asked for feedback, I found it challenging to keep up with reading the subtitles while trying to simultaneously watch your brush strokes. I'm not a fast reader, haha! So I will be rewatching this and using the pause button many times... it'll work out. I learned a lot from this video! Thank you! Edit: I slowed the playback speed in the settings, and that helped me a lot! I should've thought of that sooner 🐱

Yes, same here. I’m legally blind and I just can’t read subtitles on videos. And with painting tutorials, I can’t tell what you’re doing with only video. Audio instruction paired with visual demonstration works better for me.

I like your voice, explaining things. Text is just too short to capture all the details. And music is a question of taste. I often put the loadness down to zero, when I notice, that a video has music. And then I am fast asleep in a sec. Worst of all are videos, in which voice and music changes every now and then, because then the voice explanations are lost for me. Please do your voiceovers again. That is my opinion.
You are a great teacher and I really rely on your instructions as it helps me learn a lot. So for the tutorials I really prefer voice over.

I like the music in the background it wasn't too loud or strong. I like the words. my style of learning is I do by watching so I don't need a lot of talking. I really love your paintings I have learned a lot about water coloring from you. Keep painting you inspire me.

Positive: This is adorable! I can't wait to try it, your work is so inspiring.
Constructive: I need things dumbed down. I would feel more confident if you talked me through the steps rather than inserting subtitles. And I am not confident yet and need to see EVERY step, so when you jump I think "Wait! How'd she get there!" I'd rather have an hour and a half tutorial than a 20 minute skipping one. 😁
Thanks for the feedback! As for longer videos, I'm afraid that's not something I can do for youtube as that would mean that I won't be able to post videos once a week. It takes a very long time for me to edit, and if I were to say every process it would take weeks to produce a video. However, my Skillshare videos are much slower than my RUclips videos, so that might be something you want to look into :))

As for now I just watch your videos to relax while knitting or crafting other stuff. I love your art and enjoy all of your videos. I prefer the ones you talk us trough the process. Because of your videos I will try to start painting with watercolors, but have to buy some supplies first.

I’m quite new to your channel but one of the main reasons apart from your beautiful arts that make me keep coming back to your video is because of your soothing voice and helpful instruction. I mean the background music is lovely and all but hearing your voice is much better! It helps me focus and comprehend each step while watching you demonstrate it in the video. Or sometimes I just use your video as a lullaby to help me sleep! Thank you for doing what you’re doing. I believe that you really help a lot of people in many ways. 😊
I am a beginner. Started last year in Dezember. Since December I practice and try and try with help from RUclips and yesterday I paint this wonderful warm picture. I needed 3 or 4 hours but the picture is realy nice. I love it. Thanks for your help. Gaby from Germany

You're painting is just simply exquisite! I was so memorized and drawn into the process with the beautiful and calming music, I really didn't pay attention to the subtitles. For some reason, around the 12 min mark I became a bit emotional and I have no idea why! Lol. I think just from the beauty of it all and just feeling so peaceful. You are SO extremely talented. I do love your voiceovers too, but maybe sometimes you can just thrown in these types of videos as well so we can just sit back and watch you create such stunning pieces of art. Thank you, Nia for trying a new option for us. I prefer the voiceover. It was difficult to focus on your painting because I was constantly looking to read the subtitles, then I had to back up the video to refer back to the painting. Luv the Skillshare classes, by the way, they are amazingly detailed! Thanks for all you do.

Las personas dicen que les gusta mas cuando hablas en off, noooo yo no, prefiero este estilo con la música suave y voy a explicar porque, primero yo veo varias veces el video, luego escojo una foto con un diseño y colores similares a tu ilustración y comienzo a pintar sola, sin mirar, así es como realmente se aprende, si nos acostumbramos a mirar y pintar no lo lograremos, , la única forma de aprender es hacerlo uno mismo e ir corrigiendo errores en el camino ó repetir el proceso después de analizar que hice mal.

These mini pumpkins are a favorite of mine. I grow them every year for Fall decorations. They are called "Jack be Little" LOL. Lovely still life! Miss your voice. I will watch any video you release!

I love your work. I love the content. I like hearing your gentle banter as you paint. I don’t want to have to stop and read in the middle of the work when I paint along. I find I have to do a lot of rewinding and it slows me down.
Haha yep, as a lot of ppl mentioned here. I just wanted to make sure most ppl are on the same page because someone commented on having text instead, so I gabe it a go. Back to voice overing now though 😊
Either works for me, whether it's voiced or subtitled instructions. It's up to you which one feels less tedious to do. I'm a visual learner so just watching the video is good enough.

I prefer captions. I like having the option of watching with the sound off. I understand written English better than I do spoken English, I've always been that way and have always liked watching TV with the subtitles on.
I started this one in watercolour, didn't like it, so I started over and now I'm painting it with pastels. Let's see how it comes out. Thanks for the lovely video 😊💐❤️

I say, do whatever is easier for you. Switch it up if you feel like it. If you ever don't feel like talking, that's fine. If you like talking, talk.

I really appreciate the sketching portion of your videos. Sometimes I get so frustrated with erasing over and over because there's a shape that just won't cooperate. Seeing you sketch and erase and redraw makes me feel a little more normal about the struggle.

I found this hard to paint along to with the subtitles but I quit trying to paint and just watched and it was lovely and relaxing. Definitely prefer voice when I’m trying to paint along and learn.
Also! I’m a dentist and wanted to encourage you that the more you talk with your aligners in the easier it will be to talk and soon you won’t have that lisp at all! The pain from a new aligner typically only lasts a couple days too. Good luck with your treatment! 😊

I know you don't have any Watercolor portrait tutorials but can you pls try doing one? I've been wanting to try watercolor portraits but they're so difficult and I usually find the instructions difficult to follow. But you make everything so simple and divide everything into simpler steps. Pls pls take this request and try a watercolor portrait ❤️
I don't really do portraits or figures because they're basically the hardest subjects to draw and paint. I always refer people to proko's channel for the fundamentals :))
