I like Chemical guys bc of how well they market... The videos they have gave me the confidence to try paint correction on my truck... The way they make things simple is nice for a beginner...
I've used all four of these products with no issues for two years now on everything from a paint correction to a minor polish and have they've worked just fine. They are meant to be used as a step from the other. Start with the right compound for the job then step up. I've done a 32 then 38 and had beautiful results using a Torq Da polisher also using different grades of pads. They performed very well and I continue to use them.
I just did a whole paint correction with the V line from CG, im was satisfied with the results. I do think having some of their pad conditioner is a must or detail spray

It works really well that you took the time to do a voice-over instead of talking while you were operating the machine. Very professional. I just ordered the set of 4 small bottles of the CG compounds/polishes and am definitely eager to try them out. I agree CG gets a bad rap. Most of it self-inflicted! If you watch any of their videos you wonder if there's any grown-ups running the show. And their product line is way too big. I know you were trying to compare product results, but to be fair to the products, my opinion is you should have changed the foam pad to the corresponding product. Why did you use an aggressive, orange pad with the V36 and V38? If you go on the chemical guys you tube videoes, they are pretty clear about using the right pad for the corresponding product.
I LOVE their pad cleaner. I've had some issues with their customer service though. I've never experienced such an indignant company. The first issue was my very first order. I ordered a set of 5.5" pads, and they sent 6.5". They told me to "just use them, they're fine". I got a 6.5" plate out of them, an reordered the 5.5" pads. Second issue was my polishes went watery. Their response was "it will work"... So I threw them in the garbage. The third thing was some bogus pads. I used the green pad a lot, and always carry a bunch on stock. In 2014 I ordered a few. These pads were a different shade of green, Had smaller hexagons, and really flimsy loop material. I got them over the winter, and wasn't going to use them until April. When I did use them, the backing separated from the foam. I talked to a really nice girl over there who said that someone would contact me. They never did. I got missed and sent them a pretty clear message of what I thought their brand of professionalism. Well, they finally contacted me back, and offered a 10% discount off my next order... Like I said, their pad cleaner is excellent, but I don't have time to deal with a company who carries this philosophy in business.
Brand new Mercedes suggestion please: Came with dealer installed bird etchings and light scratching near each of them...and truthfully they don't seem too deep at all. I used VSS and it is the only product I have any experience with. It took out 80% of what I was interested in taking out. And it took several passes to even get that far (in my trouble spots). Results were great though. But I do plan on going back with something only SLIGHTLY more aggressive soon. Chemical Guys recommended V34 and then finished with V36 or VSS. However, V36 doesn't really appear to be the true "finisher" based on these videos. I'd be comfortable doing V34 then VSS, but do you think this will be the best course of action? I don't want to use anything too intimidating and I am potentially interested in getting away from that one step all together as I see the benefits of having specific products for specific jobs. But if you think it'll work I'm interested. For now, I'm interested in leaving well enough alone. But a follow up suggested course of action would be appreciated.

I've been using their new torque FX10 great buffer and even when I broke it . they replaced it it's a win win honestly can say I love their product . While I enjoy watching your videos, I am not crazy about Chemical Guys products. Recently I switched over to the Griots Fast Correcting Cream and Correcting Cream, and they do not dust and have long working times. Gave away the 3M AIO, which was not really a bad cleaner wax. Chemical Guys products are expensive. The Flex 3401 with the LC hybrid pads, and the G8 and G9 with their pads work out really well. Through the years, I have used many products, and outside of Meguiars ultimate wax, or their paste wax (which I really like), Griots takes the prize, and they finish really well. What is neat about Lake Country and Griots, you really only need a cutting pad, a polishing pad, and a wax pad, given you have the compounds/polishes/waxes that compliment them. Good Job on the video and comparing other products. Most people watching these videos are not professionals and learning the trade. CG has too many products and can be confusing.
I recently did my Tesla s with v32 and v38. I’ll be completely honest and say that It was below 50 degrees outside and it was a rushed since I started in the afternoon and was trying to finish before dark. That being said it still did a surprisingly good job. I started off with v 36, then 34, then 32. I was surprised I could get that aggressive on Tesla paint, but scratches were bad. Can’t wait till the weather gets nice to take my time. I only spent about 3 hours on it. Took a road trip yesterday and the dirt barely stuck to my car. V32 did a great job but still some scratches left. Next I’ll try the meguiars to compare.
The compounded sections don't look as the polish sections, because you're suppose to follow up compounding WITH the polish. You don't just use a compound and call it done, you always follow up compound with polish.
I’m with Jody and have read your response, but could you do another video showing in 8 sections - 4 on the bottom the way you did and 4 on top in a progression from start to finish. Thank for your time and great review.
This is exactly what I would like to see as well. Not just a video of what the line of products can accomplish on their own, but an example of what can be accomplished by using them in a progression as well as switching pads. Not that he did anything wrong here, it would just be nice to see the full capabilities of the line beyomd a one step.

Great video. I tried these out a few years ago on my zr-1 that I had on display at the Canadian Int’l autoshow. I used v34 and 38. They worked great and as expected. I had hundreds of comments over the week about the paint condition and shine. Most asked question was “which ceramic coating do you have on there ?” . 🤣 And I happily replied it’s a wax. I had used jet seal, glossworx glaze and then Celeste dettaglio carnauba on top. I used p40 spray detailer to keep the carpet dust off. 😎
Great video i asked you about these products a few weeks ago glad to see you did a demonstration. In my opinion they dont compete with the AngelWax products you use, Im sold on the AngelWax products and or the Meguiars 105 205. Out of the two which one would you opt to first? Thanks again.
Angelwax, Wolfgang, Menzerna, QP On compounds are of highest quality to me. Cant go wrong with any of those. Megs products are right there... slightly below.👍🏻
I have a 2019 370z and it appears the clear coat is quite hard. V32 removes the minor swirls but can’t remove some of the more pronounced imperfections and very minor scratches. The scratches are not deep and I can’t feel them with my finger nail, so it’s disappointing V32 doesn’t work on those.
I have asked this directly to Chemical Guys, but I want another perspective. If I understood this correctly, when you do a buff and polish job and you want to apply a ceramic it is the last step taken; there’s no need to apply a wax or any other sealants after the ceramic. But Chemical Guys told me that the Hydrocharge and Hydroslick is applied after the V38 polish, then the Wet Mirror Finish, then Jet Seal, then Butter Wet Wax. Why all those steps after Hydroslick if that is suppose to provide the protection?
I used all these chemical guys polish but I still like and prefer M100 & M102 Meguiar's it is very good Also Menzerna 400, I wish I could try 3M polish.
Great review. I think CG's take a beating on the forums because they make so many products that do the same thing, making it very confusing for the consumer. Plus, they sell a wax that costs $2,500 😂
😂😂. They do get carried away with re-labeling... but I think most of us are wise enough not to fall for that crap. But they are a healthy, profitable company... must be doing something right!
Nick M yes i agree they make it confusing i went to their store a few times they had like 3 different compounds,polish,glazes i did try the compounds and work fine but yeah theres better ones.the jet seal works really good for me.as for the 2500 wax jar they sale its just ridiculous im sure you get the same results with any good wax.

I bought this kit and as much as I wanted to believe in the v range the Results were terrible especially for the price, I use menzerna hc 400 and carpro clear cut and they both worked way better.
What was that you sprayed to keep the cutting polish from drying? Just got the 4 step and a new polisher for Christmas. What you suggest for and older car like a 1966 ? Should I start with 36 ?
Forgive me for stating the following but I'm trying to determine how this video has any relevancy whatsoever. Yes you can take each polish and use on a different section to show the "potency" of each but how does help demonstrate the finished product? Aren't each of these products to be used in succession of the other? This is like comparing 200 grit sandpaper to 300 grit then 500 grit then 1500 grit all on different sections without using them in order and then comparing to an area that hasn't been sanded. I can appreciate your time and effort that went in to making this video but surely as another detailing professional you can see this video has absolutely no relevance whatsoever unless it has been done in order on the same area. If I were to use 3000 grit sandpaper on a rough cut piece of lumber, obviously it isn't going to look smooth unless it's been planed then sanded with lower grit followed by gradual steps. Same concept. I'm amazed that I'm the only one who has noticed or mentioned this.
Jody Raymond you are amazed because you totally missed the point. Not your fault.. I should have been clear. The point is the compounds are horrible! The polishes are fair at best. If you do not practice strict residue control, the residue will add more work than it's worth. What IS shocking is how you do not realize that you cannot stay profitable and efficient when you have to blow off the pads after every pass because the product you are working with is repurposed, relabeled, rubbish! CHEERS!
I actually purchased the Chemical Guys V series products to use on my personal car as I haven't tried their products before. I came here looking for people that had used them for quick tips, etc. My apologies for my lack of understanding in the point of your video and my "abrassiveness" (pun intended). I have no allegiance to chem guys or any other brand for that matter. Was simply confused. I'll let you know how it goes.
Yes...I love the feedback!! and I apologize if the answer came off as smart ass. All I can recommend when using that line is to Practice the strictest residue control as possible. I personally suggest Wolfgang, Menzerna, Angelwax, or QP ON as compounds to use. They are residue free, stay wet under pad until the abrasives break down completely, and a little product goes a long way. In any case..l hope you project goes well!!! :)
@@apexdetail85 You are supposed to blow out the pad after each section regardless of what polish you are using anyways. Residue from V32/V34 is annoying, I can agree. But if you are applying sealant or ceramic the car needs to be washed after anyways to remove any residual polish for better adhesion. That being said, there are better polishes out there, but V series on 30% off, I wouldn't say it is a bad buy.
The final polish I have is watery. I contacted CG, one guy told me he couldn't help. Another customer service person ended up helping me. I sent pictures and they replaced the item. The replacement is watery to. It has no substance. It just absorbs in the pad. Did they change the formula? Anyone else have this happen?
Yeah I really don't understand the hate on these products. They are not the best, there is deff. Better but for a higher price. But starting off these are great I beleive. These are the first compounds I picked up because they're cheap especially on this Amazon deal I got and because I used it and my video showed and prove that it work I got a bunch of private messages on my Instagram hating on me because they use them. I've had a guy post publicly on my pictures that I'm not a big detailer because I'm using Chemical Guys and using Harbor Freight polisher and not a Rupes. So I had to block them.
Mo only gripe with this video is that these are supposed to be used in sequence, not by themselves. You start with v34>36>38 and end up with glass finish.
@@apexdetail85 I guess it all depends on the severity of the paint. I'm not an expert but if paint has been neglected for years it is only logical that any kind of correction will take many more steps than paint that has been cared for.

I understand what the purpose of the video was but layering the product would show a better result on that paint. Also your lighting was very low. It’s difficult to really see what is going on with an old fluorescent bulb. Thank you for the video. I to have tried this product and no, it’s not my favorite but I could get a much better result from it and I don’t know what I’m doing. You’re a pro your results should have been much better.
It would depend on what you are working on Daniel. For example... you could cut defects with the Hybrid (34) then finish with 38. I would play with them so to speak to get used to what they do. Then after a while... you can walk up to a car and quickly decide which combo would work best. It is rarely necessary to use all four.
Well. I'm what you would call a weekend warrior but consider myself pretty experienced... I have a well paid job so can't detail full time. I used CG products for a while now (UK) and recently entered a detailing competition coming first at a classic Ford meet on my 1990 escort RS turbo. I found that used right the V range worked extremely well and produced a perfect finish. 👌
This doesnt show the result of the compound.. we need to see what it looks like after all 4 steps.. obviously after applying only compound it wont look as good as the polish.. the compounds not suppose to make it shiny.. lol its the same as wet sanding a panel and blaming the sandpaper for not making it shine lmfao
V32 is garbage. I've used it on my 97 Supra a couple times, with very mixed results. DA Correction Compound from Meguiars is FAR superior. M105 I would consider the equal to V32, and it's a far superior product. I'm slowly learning that Chemical Guys is a lot of marketing, and not all that result driven.
I am not the biggest CG fan but the test areas are way to large. If you aren't following manufactures directions you cant expect the product to work well. I have used the products and they can work well but at the same time not well enough. This unfortunately is a bad representation of this product. I have used other products I think is much better but you can trust this type of review.

Griots worked best for me on my 370z. CG V series didn’t do much for me

chris ashley you are supposed to start at v32 and work your way up not the other way around
@Preston Martin I did actually start with the V32 compound then used the finishing polish v38. I didn’t use 34 or 36 tho.
On your first run with the v32 keep in mind the V line is a step system If followed with the v36 then v38. It would’ve turned clear
It also depends on how much cut your pad has, if you have to use V32 you have to move to V34, V36 and finally V38, then top off with JetSeal then wax.
Yer absolutely correct, I get great results when applied as a compound 32-34 and then stepping up to a finish 36-38.

I always spray my pad with a little water helps stretch out the compound and cleans your pad

Ceramic coating could only last so long and adding something onto prolongs the ceramic coating. It's like a barrier over another barrier.

I bought this kit and as much as I wanted to believe in the v range the Results were terrible especially for the price, I use menzerna hc 400 and carpro clear cut and they both worked way better.

Do you like Wizards Mystic Cut better, then the Chemical Guys V line. I have used Wizards line, and it my favorite. I’ve never used V line.

What was that you sprayed to keep the cutting polish from drying? Just got the 4 step and a new polisher for Christmas. What you suggest for and older car like a 1966 ? Should I start with 36 ?

I only bough the 36 and 38. I had lots of overspray and after claying car tried them. I do believe in need thr 32 or 34. Car is beat up bad.

V32 - v34 for serious scratches followed up with the V36 - V38 worked for me just fine.

Hi, do you apply pressure to the rotary polisher when using it? I have a SPTA brand rotary polisher but I heard they are not easy to use.
Would M105 have cleaned up all those defects or would it still need to be sanded?
I respect others opinion but M105 and M205 still working better than others brand. Menzerna is very good as well.
I agree...I didnt say it was bad at all...just dries too quickly and produces a bit of residue. I also agree with Menzerna...love it!!!

Menzerna are great,but Gyeon works much better without any problems and using a small amount for each car

Forgive me for stating the following but I'm trying to determine how this video has any relevancy whatsoever. Yes you can take each polish and use on a different section to show the "potency" of each but how does help demonstrate the finished product? Aren't each of these products to be used in succession of the other? This is like comparing 200 grit sandpaper to 300 grit then 500 grit then 1500 grit all on different sections without using them in order and then comparing to an area that hasn't been sanded. I can appreciate your time and effort that went in to making this video but surely as another detailing professional you can see this video has absolutely no relevance whatsoever unless it has been done in order on the same area. If I were to use 3000 grit sandpaper on a rough cut piece of lumber, obviously it isn't going to look smooth unless it's been planed then sanded with lower grit followed by gradual steps. Same concept. I'm amazed that I'm the only one who has noticed or mentioned this.
Jody Raymond you are amazed because you totally missed the point. Not your fault.. I should have been clear. The point is the compounds are horrible! The polishes are fair at best. If you do not practice strict residue control, the residue will add more work than it's worth. What IS shocking is how you do not realize that you cannot stay profitable and efficient when you have to blow off the pads after every pass because the product you are working with is repurposed, relabeled, rubbish! CHEERS!

I actually purchased the Chemical Guys V series products to use on my personal car as I haven't tried their products before. I came here looking for people that had used them for quick tips, etc. My apologies for my lack of understanding in the point of your video and my "abrassiveness" (pun intended). I have no allegiance to chem guys or any other brand for that matter. Was simply confused. I'll let you know how it goes.
Yes...I love the feedback!! and I apologize if the answer came off as smart ass. All I can recommend when using that line is to Practice the strictest residue control as possible. I personally suggest Wolfgang, Menzerna, Angelwax, or QP ON as compounds to use. They are residue free, stay wet under pad until the abrasives break down completely, and a little product goes a long way. In any case..l hope you project goes well!!! :)
@@apexdetail85 You are supposed to blow out the pad after each section regardless of what polish you are using anyways. Residue from V32/V34 is annoying, I can agree. But if you are applying sealant or ceramic the car needs to be washed after anyways to remove any residual polish for better adhesion. That being said, there are better polishes out there, but V series on 30% off, I wouldn't say it is a bad buy.
The final polish I have is watery. I contacted CG, one guy told me he couldn't help. Another customer service person ended up helping me. I sent pictures and they replaced the item. The replacement is watery to. It has no substance. It just absorbs in the pad. Did they change the formula? Anyone else have this happen?

Yeah I really don't understand the hate on these products. They are not the best, there is deff. Better but for a higher price. But starting off these are great I beleive. These are the first compounds I picked up because they're cheap especially on this Amazon deal I got and because I used it and my video showed and prove that it work I got a bunch of private messages on my Instagram hating on me because they use them. I've had a guy post publicly on my pictures that I'm not a big detailer because I'm using Chemical Guys and using Harbor Freight polisher and not a Rupes. So I had to block them.

Mo only gripe with this video is that these are supposed to be used in sequence, not by themselves. You start with v34>36>38 and end up with glass finish.
I get the point....but how many corrections have the budget available to do that many steps>
@@apexdetail85 I guess it all depends on the severity of the paint. I'm not an expert but if paint has been neglected for years it is only logical that any kind of correction will take many more steps than paint that has been cared for.

It depends on the condition of the paint. Good paint=$300, Moderate paint $400, Bad paint $800-$1000. But I'm just guessing...

I understand what the purpose of the video was but layering the product would show a better result on that paint. Also your lighting was very low. It’s difficult to really see what is going on with an old fluorescent bulb. Thank you for the video. I to have tried this product and no, it’s not my favorite but I could get a much better result from it and I don’t know what I’m doing. You’re a pro your results should have been much better.

It would depend on what you are working on Daniel. For example... you could cut defects with the Hybrid (34) then finish with 38. I would play with them so to speak to get used to what they do. Then after a while... you can walk up to a car and quickly decide which combo would work best. It is rarely necessary to use all four.
Like Brian said v36 works great as a one step. V36 with a medium foam pad works great for me as a one step
I use the 34 then 38 on Harley’s. works great.

Well. I'm what you would call a weekend warrior but consider myself pretty experienced... I have a well paid job so can't detail full time.
I used CG products for a while now (UK) and recently entered a detailing competition coming first at a classic Ford meet on my 1990 escort RS turbo.
I found that used right the V range worked extremely well and produced a perfect finish. 👌

I don't like their v line polishes. I even prefer retail compounds like ultimate by Meguiars.
The 36 and 38 polishes are the only chemicals at all that I dont mind. I agree with you👍🏻

You are doing it wrong. You supposed not to use the same pad for all of them.
This doesnt show the result of the compound.. we need to see what it looks like after all 4 steps.. obviously after applying only compound it wont look as good as the polish.. the compounds not suppose to make it shiny.. lol its the same as wet sanding a panel and blaming the sandpaper for not making it shine lmfao
I tried all these products. They are garbage. I couldn't get it to polish anything. As soon as used Meguires, boom, instant shine and scratch removal.
What is QED? Speak English. We’re not all pro detailers.
V32 is garbage.
I've used it on my 97 Supra a couple times, with very mixed results. DA Correction Compound from Meguiars is FAR superior. M105 I would consider the equal to V32, and it's a far superior product. I'm slowly learning that Chemical Guys is a lot of marketing, and not all that result driven.
I am not the biggest CG fan but the test areas are way to large. If you aren't following manufactures directions you cant expect the product to work well. I have used the products and they can work well but at the same time not well enough. This unfortunately is a bad representation of this product. I have used other products I think is much better but you can trust this type of review.
