All it takes is one bad day....I mean movie
The fact they added girls to the lost boys made me lose my damn mind 💀 The sole purpose of the lost boys only being boys was for Wendy to serve as the obligatory mother figure for being the only female present. Her role as a motherly figure to the boys ironically makes her feel like she's tapping into her womanhood, aka growing up, which causes a rift between her and Peter. This story takes place in the early 1900s where feminity mostly surrounded a woman's job as a wife and mother, hence why Wendy's instinct was to care for the boys and be attracted to Peter as a romantic partner. Adding girls to the mix quite literally destructs one of the main proponents of Wendy's character arc 😭 I really couldn't care less about the race swapping since it doesn't really interfere with the story, but as an aspiring screenwriter I get heated whenever main character/story proponents are tampered with for something as vain as Disney's virtue signaling.
Someone gets it!! I’m an aspiring writer myself and I’ve actually written a Peter Pan screenplay. This trailer was rough.

I just really wonder what makes Disney think that us as black people we must feel soooo good about ALWAYS stealing white characters? At this point it's just downright insulting...
Soo you saying only white peoples are entitled to be and play as those characters.
Never...EVER...while watching cartoons, Disney classics as a black child in the 1980's did I think, _"Man, I wish there were more Black lead characters."_ It was always about th quality of the writing! ✍️ THIS?! This is pandering at its worse, and for what?!
At this point I think it's coming from two places: one... They really think they need to move the needle in terms of "representation", So there is an internal push for 50% racial quota on all of their casting or something. And two...and I really do believe this... Part of it absolutely stems from a "take that!" perspective. Since historically so many stories were told using only white actors, no matter who the race was, companies today (including Disney) are purposely swapping the race a different way in order for whites to feel what others felt back then. I honestly think this is what they are doing.
And finally, Disney in particular feels that they can rely on their position as the creator of children's classics. By doing this, they are creating, or think they're creating, a new breed of classic children's entertainment that's going to replace the old stuff in the decades to come. At least in the cultural memory of the new generation. Those who grew up on the old Peter Pan and other things are just going to age, while today's children will associate these stories with these new interpretations. It doesn't matter that it's insulting. They are arrogant enough to believe that "We're Disney. People will watch what we give them." And all they need to do is phase out the old stuff, like take the old versions off of their streaming service and just have this... And gradually people will stop caring and watch it anyway.
It used to be the opposite decades ago. In their woke minds they’re over correcting for it. But it’s just the same issue in reverse. It’s stupid.
They act as if there are no stories from African/Black culture that can be adapted to Disney. I for one would like to see an original story if they are trying to be inclusive. Knowing the current regime at Disney they would probably still make a cringe story by trying to make it super woke instead of just telling the story.

As someone who grew up 10 minutes walk away from the Peter Pan statue in Hyde Park. It feels like a personal attack.
So let's see.
-The main villain stays white, but he's old and fat.
-Peter is now Hispanic.
-Wendy is becoming more of the protagonist than the actual protagonist and seems to have a chosen one prophecy here, enabling her to fight off multiple pirates herself.
-Tinkerbell is apparently doing black face.
-The Lost Boys are now not only "gender inclusive and racially diverse" but one even has down syndrome.
-And apparently Tiger Lily is going to be the bad ass biracial (and most likely bisexual) leader of the Indians.
...
Welp, guess we can expect another pile of shit instead of a diamond.
Based on this trailer alone it looks more like it should be called "WENDY! with a guest appearance by peter pan"

The plot is going to be so predictable. Peter Pan disposed of for the majority of the action and then when you think he is going to come in and save the day you are wrong. Peter Pan fails and Wendy finds the courage to be the real hero. Yawn.
