The Oct 1999 super cyclone at Orissa killed 16,000 people; 20 years later, cyclone Fani in 2019 killed 72 people. So far, no deaths have been reported by Dana. That is a testament to the Orissa government’s continuous efforts to upgrade their cyclone preparedness and the IMD’s increasingly accurate predictions of cyclone tracks, severity and likely impact.

Planting trees on road sides of the cyclone prone areas should be banned by government . Plant more mangroves near back waters. 😊😊
