Great to see my home park get some love! I worked there as an operator for 2 years. I mostly worked the flat rides, but also operated the Bat, Roller Coaster, Wicked, and Bombora. Bombora does have 2 trains, but they bring the second one out when the line gets too long; guess they didn't on your trips. The Bat only has 1 train, period, so that's always been a capacity nightmare. Cannibal wasn't built when I was working there, but when it first opened, the lines for it stretched back as far as the North Sky Ride entrance. Nowadays, operation and capacity on Cannibal is great and one of the fastest I've ever seen. In regards to your assigned seating concern with the park, you can ask the attendants that you prefer a specific seat and most of the time they'll let someone behind you go instead just so you can get the seat you want. Not every attendant does that, but I made sure to do that when I worked there at least. Colossus used to have assigned seating when I worked there, but they don't anymore. The Bat didn't have assigned seating when I operated it. For the hand stamps, you can request a re-stamp at either the front entrance or at the water park entrance. Lagoon is one of the best parks for a young, aspiring coaster enthusiast, only problem in that regard being the distance from other parks. Glad to hear you and Sophie had a great time in town and glad she had a lot of fun with it! But yes, Lagoon definitely needs a new big thrill ride and before Roller Coaster got its new trains, I suggested the idea of them giving it the RMC treatment, since it was a massively bumpy ride for a long time. But if they're keeping Roller Coaster around for the long run, I'd love to see Lagoon get an RMC single rail coaster, like a Raptor model with a Utahraptor theme. Sorry for the essay, I just have a lot of love for this park and thought I'd share some of my experiences to add to your thoughts.
Love it! I went last week, they gave us a wrist band instead of a stamp. Probably because of Covid-19. I don't think the Roller Coaster will get the RMC treatment, they seem pretty set on maintaining the historic nature of the ride. I'd love to see a new RMC coaster at Lagoon at any point!
Lagoon has a special place in my heart. Colossus kick-started my enthusiasm and it’s been fun to watch the park grow! Should be on everyone’s bucket list. Haunted house ride is excellent and the coasters are fantastic. Sad I no longer live within weekend driving distance, but hopefully can get back soon. Glad you loved it! Wished they kept painting Roller Coaster white, it’s odd to me seeing it brown. Great content!
Lagoon was my home park growing up. I love going there. There is a entire section of the park you missed in your video you said nothing about pioneer village I know that you are more coaster oriented but pioneer village has more animals a lot of cool walk throughs and two water rides including a very good log flume.
Airtime Thrills Inside of pioneer village there are plenty of shops and food areas, also there water ride rattle snake rapids is a fun experience on a hot sunny day.
@@AirtimeThrills make sure you go on rattlesnake, yeah it ALWAYS has a long line, but the ride is so much fun, and, considering the type of ride it is, it's pretty intense
Just so you are aware, you can request a wrist band instead of getting the hand stamp, they will send you to a guest services area to get it just inside the gates but it is an option. I worked at lagoon for a few years in the rides department and was a supervisor on the south end of the park the year spider opened. The ticket system seams to no longer be in use however when I was working there you could buy an entry pass and just get enough tickets for the rides you wanted to go on, this worked great for my grandparents who would only go for the shows and a few select rides with the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
I went on cannibal opening year, and that line stretched to the bumper cars and was like 2 hours lol. Also the reason why Terrorride is so popular is that it recently got an update for its 50th anniversary. Before that, it was dead
I grew up 10 minutes from Lagoon. I even worked there while in high school. Hearing your love for it makes me so happy. Like, I feel like a proud dad lol
Awesome video and loved the vlog I hope that you and Sophie are able to make it back to the park in a couple of years so she can ride Cannibal, keep up the good work!!!
I went to Lagoon in 2016, before I ever became an enthusiast. I didn't even know there was a whole other side to the park, so my friend group stayed in the area by Cannibal the entire time. I only rode Jet Star II because I was too scared to ride Cannibal. Park was pretty cool overall, but I would love to return here sometime soon to get the remaining credits
Love Lagoon! Amazing family owned park. Something people also might take for granted that is worth an awesome mention is that Lagoon let's you take your own food cooler into the park. Yes, you can bring outside food and meals into the park! This food can be left all day at one of the many many covered pavilions that are all open to guests. I can't think of many parks that do this. Totally worth it's praise! Something else people don't always know is that Lagoon's animals (you can take the animal train that circuits around the 'lagoon' just west of Turn of the Century (swing ride)) are all rescue animals. Many would be put down if it weren't for Lagoon taking them in. I gotta agree with you on Lagoon needing a few more thrill rides. Flats, and definitely a few more coasters on the level of Cannibal. Speaking of Cannibal. Amazing coaster! what blew me away is Lagoon is the one who built and contracted out building Cannibal in-house. How many parks do that and come away as successful and amazing as Cannibal is. Bombora is also an in-house, as will be Primordial. Great vid!
I love watching you enjoy coasters with your daughter. Those are memories she will treasure forever. My dad wasn't around when I was growing up, and I would've loved to have the relationship it seems you two have with each other. Great video, made me smile 👍☺️
It's a wonderful experience taking your kid to an amusement park. With kings island here, mine was 7 when he hit the 48 inch mark giving us the beast. The following year he shot up and was tall enough to do more. But alas it took til he was 11 to get on diamondback, banshee and be excited for Orion we are waiting to open. Thanks for the great vids man!
We used to hit Lagoon multiple times per summer whilst residing within Salt Lake City. Always had a good time. Plus, the water park was truly necessary during those hot and dry summer days.
Love seeing you with Sophie in the parks! I’m taking my daughter to Six Flags New England when everything is safe because she just got brave enough to try Wicked Cyclone. She just hit 48 inches last summer, so I’ve been waiting. (She’s a shrimp and is almost 9) Seeing Sophie go on Revolution at MM gave her the courage. Thanks for keeping the channel going during COVID.
Glad to see you guys had fun at my home park! And I always wonder why so many people hop in line for the bat because it's not really an enjoyable experience in my opinion

Hey! I’m glad that you Lagoon! (I’m from Utah). I didn’t realize how good of a park it was since I haven’t been to many others. You probably got somewhat lucky with lines on cannibal because it was Sunday :)’
I'm a ride operator on Cannibal, and what you saw with the ride stopped at the top when you first arrived is just us completing our morning checks, it wasn't broken.
Good video! Lagoon is my home park. It's so underrated. Its pretty, mostly clean, has a good collection of flat rides, dark rides, thrill rides, and roller coasters. Pioneer village is awesome. I hope it opens soon. Have you ever been to frightmares Airtime Thrills? It's not HHN quality of course, but it's better and more fun than any six flags fright fest in my opinion.
Cannibal was my first looping coaster, surprisingly or not. I was always scared of death on these looping coasters but when I went on it I felt scared but excited at the same time! It holds a special place in my heart! Hope your daughter builds up the courage to ride it! My dad tricked my step mom to go on it and she was not so happy lol
I agree on its mind boggling why Cannibal doesn't have switch backs. The first few days it was open the line for it stretched back to the entrance of the park. I rode it that year and waited 45 minutes each time, being back by Catapult.
A Vomatron, T-Rex, and a starflyer could go down well there, perhaps a drop tower with a different seating arangement like the Intimin Towers in Europe?. I didn't know Lagoon had a water park so I don't know what kid of slides it has, didn't look like that many modern thrilling slides-maybe the thing Mt. Olympus is getting?
Thanks for this review! There's a possibility we move out there (from Orlando) & having a nice park close by makes the idea for me a little easier to handle.
Hey there!, im a current lagoon ride operator on jet star, we dont really worry about the height requirement but it depends on the supervisor assigned to the ride, my supers are chill, and dont let people under 47 ride at all. Its fine if shes 48, 49, 50 i generally cut it off at 47 but it depends. I hope y’all had fun!
Your videos are amazing! been a fan since 1k over a year ago when my son was born and I was going through a rougher time. My home park is Canada's wonderland which i visited countless times since i was 7 and my dad made me ride skyrider. Although many dislike the ride, it will always hold a special place in my heart. I've only been back twice since my teen years but i have all the credits aside from Yukon striker although as you've pointed out our line up is a little weak lol. It will be years before I get to go to a new park and I'm a major coaster enthusiast but anyways, all this was to say. Thank you, your videos are hope for me to one day be able to ride with him the same way my dad did with me and you do with Sophie. It really warms my heart. P.s Im not sure you'll see or reply, but I hear you talking about bag policies constantly, I wore a fanny pack ( I know bad fashion choice, again my dads habits lol). my question is, do they count as a bag in the american parks? I'm genuinely confused lol.
Idk why, but Lagoon leaves a train at the top of cannibal often, usually during testing. It’s an interesting setup, but I’ve seen a train up there almost every visit.
I know that when the ride is operating the train that went before it doesn't normally have enough time to finish the next block section, which causes the train to stop at the top of the elevator, right before the drop (yes, it's an elevator, not a lift hill if you didn't know) but I don't know about before the ride opens when they're testing it. Another possible reason is that the ride could be broken down as that happens a lot as it is built in house.
My home park! Worked in Games the 97 & 98 seasons. Only had 3 coasters then, Fire Dragon {you called it Colossus like most people do}, Roller Coaster, Jet Star 2. Some of my favorite memories from those summers tough.
I love Lagoon! I used to work there doing "A.M. Grounds". It was about a dozen of us teenage friends all there from Midnight to about 9AM. We blasted everything with hoses and had free run of the place. Oh the stories I could tell hahaha.
ive only been on rollercoasters at lagoon and uiversial studios lagoon is my favorite and im going in a couple days im so excited and love all the roller coasters there
Lagoon is scheduled to be our first park after quarantine - haven't been there since 2003 when Spider first opened, so a lot has changed since then! Our daughter is 5 but typically takes a lot of convincing to get one ride on the kiddie coasters, so it would probably be hard to get her on even some of the family coasters, much less Wicked! Sophie is very brave!
Hmm. I first heard about Lagoon from Taylor of Coaster Studios. In 2022 or 2023 I'll be launching my Golden State Coaster Tour. Maybe I'll fly from Orlando to Salt Lake City or 2 nights. 1 for arrival 2: A surprise Lagoon visit and the next day fly from Salt Lake to San Fran for my California coaster tour. Here I want to knock out Discovery Kingdom, California Great America, Magic Mountain, Disneyland, before concluding at SeaWorld San Diego. And you tell Sophie that I was afraid of roller coasters myself and continue to take it little by little and when you're ready let me know.
Lagoon's Wildmouse has unfortunately spoiled other Wildmouse models for me. With how compact and intense it is I get disappointed with others. The Wildmouse over in Busch Gardens Tampa shares a similar layout and I love that as well. Given this year - I'd be surprised if they didn't institute changing to wristbands. But yeah, thanks for the love for my home park. ^_^
Also when I went to the bat the two times I rode it, the lines where short for (no joke) every single ride. Cannibal’s line is so long but moves so quick
Just found out that Lagoon is a 15 hour drive from Vancouver (score?), which is pretty close for Van standards. The only other one worth going to that is closer is Silverwood (8 hours).
I flew all the way from Northern California to go here. Fun fact, actually: 10 days before my day at Lagoon, I got a wound oh my shin from a stationary bike of all things (ik, I’m an idiot). And so I had to get stitches, so in the morning before my day at lagoon, I went to a local SLC hospital to get the stitches removed. After then, I went back to the hotel to get our stuff, and head to the park. I thought it was absolutely a beautiful place. I rode Canabal and of course it was my favorite. It was a good day, but I was done by around 3 or 4 pm. I think the park is okay, but what made it worth it was Canabal. Btw, my home park is Six Flags Discovery Kingdom.
a visit to a chiropractor is normally required afterward, for older folks, what with the whiplash and spine being yanked all over the place :P That top switchback section is NOT FOR SISSIES
A friend and I hiked the trail behind Lagoon on Memorial day weekend 2020 and I got some good video of Wicked from the path between the campground and the parking lot. It made both me and my friend really want to buy a ticket, but with current events that would have been difficult. Sadly we may skip it this year.
My local family park has its own copy of that Spider model. It definitely packs a punch for its size. We also have the Music Express. Probably one of the worst flat rides in existence haha
I think its a universal thing that family coasters have longer lines because their audience is naturally larger but also maybe their capacity is consistently less. I've found that Verbolten at BGW, the family launched coaster at my home park, always has the longest line. That or InvadR, the family GCI hybrid. The other roller coasters are mostly intense capacity monsters (3 b&m's and a 28 seat classic arrow looper and the skyloop).
Sounds like they will be forced to do something else after the pandemic. Can't see how a method of determining whether one has paid for entry to the park that spreads disease AND discourages hand washing could possibly fly in a post Covid-19 world.
It's always nice when Sopie"s dad makes a guest appearance in these vlogs.
"43? I want to have a thousand!"

It's also policy at most parks for the operators to listen to the kids and not the parents.

Pros and cons for low height restrictions on thrill rides:
Pros:
-open to young, brave children who are already ready to ride.
-fewer Karens trying to get their (too short to ride) kids on for operators to worry about
Cons:
Invites more parents to force kids who may not be ready to ride
I'm not a parent myself, but I am 99.99998452% certain that forcing children to ride a thrill the biggest mistake a parent can make when trying to get their children into thrill rides. From what I heard (from GP to enthusiast I believe) Cedar Point ride operators won't let parents decide if their child rides a ride (if the child is nervous about it) and it is entirely the decision of the child if they actually ride or not. So the forcing children to ride crap shouldn't be likely to happen at CP.

More Sophie in your posts please! Reminds me how excited my oldest child was about rides at that age.
I’m so glad that Lagoon is getting the love it deserves. I really can’t wait to get back here!
Vekoma hang and bangs are line magnets mainly due to have a capacity of like 300 per hour so what should be a station wait is a parking lot.
the building for cannibal's lift looks like something I would make in planet coaster, with just one type of wall and no details at all
I would’ve added some music during Cannibal’s lift. Some calm elevator style music to fit the lift.
@@DoswarePictures, Cannibal DOES have themed music in the Lift Tower.
Sid Vernon but is it elevator music?
I live near lagoon, we go multiple times per summer. I love it! It’s always so
much fun.
I love Lagoon! I used to work there doing "A.M. Grounds". It was about a dozen of us teenage friends all there from Midnight to about 9AM. We blasted everything with hoses and had free run of the place. Oh the stories I could tell hahaha.
Being a ride op at lagoon I always smile when I here people talk about our great ops
ive only been on rollercoasters at lagoon and uiversial studios lagoon is my favorite and im going in a couple days im so excited and love all the roller coasters there
As a Utah native I love seeing lagoon get some love :)
Colossus was my first loop, so it's got a special place in my heart 😅 Cannibal is also INSANE
*first two loops
Just so you know. When I went a week ago. The line for Cannibal was over an hour. And Wicked had a 30 minute wait.
Awh this is so lovely! Shout out to all the amazing dads out there!
Really brave for Sophie to go on Wicked. I was 10 when my dad first dragged me on Nemesis lol
I wish lagoon would finally open... I got my season pass ready to go
This is my home park and apparently it's going to re open soon! I'm glad this was your best coaster day!
Thank you for convincing me to make a trip here in the near future lol looks amazing
Also when I went to the bat the two times I rode it, the lines where short for (no joke) every single ride. Cannibal’s line is so long but moves so quick
“A good weekend trip” - ummm, your definition of travel being short is much different than mine 😂😂😂😂
Well its definitely not short, but its a nice friday saturday sunday trip. With friday and sunday being nothing but driving
Airtime Thrills that’s understandable. I’m glad Sophie had such a good time! Having kids makes memories so much more fun to make.
Just found out that Lagoon is a 15 hour drive from Vancouver (score?), which is pretty close for Van standards. The only other one worth going to that is closer is Silverwood (8 hours).
One of my favorite coaster channels
That wild mouse is particularly brutal, I swear.
a visit to a chiropractor is normally required afterward, for older folks, what with the whiplash and spine being yanked all over the place :P That top switchback section is NOT FOR SISSIES
Next time you go, you can’t miss rattlesnake rapids at the back of the park. It’s easily one of my favorite water rides
Chris: it's only 11 hours away which makes it a reasonable weekend trip.
Me: Bro , you're a machine.
West coast conditioning. We dont have good parks within 4 hours in any direction like in the midwest and east
Sounds like an awesome day! This looks like a very underrated park and it's on my bucket list
I love Lagoon. It's my local park. Nothing beats Cannibal's drop. The hang time in the Lagoon roll is intense too!
A friend and I hiked the trail behind Lagoon on Memorial day weekend 2020 and I got some good video of Wicked from the path between the campground and the parking lot. It made both me and my friend really want to buy a ticket, but with current events that would have been difficult. Sadly we may skip it this year.
AirTime Thrills & every other West Coaster: The trip took 11 hours, which is definitely a doable weekend trip
Me and the rest of the country: ??
Did you leave Sophie unsupervised in the waterpark? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 LOL
Haha nope she was with my wife
Airtime Thrills Ok good! Got worried for a second 👌🏻😀🤣
I accidentally read it as "why Lagoon was my favorite coaster of 2019" and got really confused xD
“Be careful not to wash your hand off too much” *covid-19 enters the chat*
Sounds like they will be forced to do something else after the pandemic. Can't see how a method of determining whether one has paid for entry to the park that spreads disease AND discourages hand washing could possibly fly in a post Covid-19 world.
This should finally push them toward wristbands
They switched to wrist-bands!!! Yay!
