    We can definitely see how skill and experience with traditional watercolor can enhance your results with these pens. The colors seemed to activate really well with water and flow a lot like tube or cake paints. We loved the demonstration piece- fun image that showed off the medium well. Very nice!

    An actual review with use of the product I want to know about and not some comparison or yawn swatch. Outstanding! Great pic too👍
    Gives an idea of use & what can be done with just these 10 WC markers

    This was so much fun! Your painting is beautiful and brought back some lovely memories for me. I had a Standard Poodle named Mac and he loved sticking his head out the window, but poodles are known for having eye problems, so I bought him a set of goggles and a hat and he loved them. He used to bring them to me to put on because he knew they meant "car ride", lol.

    Thank you for your review. I got the Faber-Castell watercolour pencils and they are gorgeous. Used them on the plane, from UK to Dubai and thoroughly enjoyed using them. Definitely will get the Faber-Castell Watercolour Markers, also got the Winston and Newton Promarker watercolour, they were a dream to work with.

    Hello Emily. Thanx for the great review on these markers. Now I absolutely need these in my stash! 🙃 than you for enabling me to purchase these. I'm very impressed with how they move and don't leave harsh lines. I'm curious to know if you can color with them and then leave it, let's say overnight, and come back to them and reconstitute them. Sometimes I can't complete a project all at once...... Thank you again 😊

    • @EmilyOlsonArt
      @EmilyOlsonArt  Год назад

      Because they are water based, you can reactivate them any time! I think it is easier to get a seamless blend if you use water right away--but yes--you can definitely set the project aside and come back to it!

    Oh I struggled with these so bad. Also with the Winsor & Newton ones. They have pigment information on them and only come in 12 colors which still offers a good range of colors. I love the dog painting.

    Not gonna lie, these markers look really great! I’ve had my eye on them for a bit.
    It looks like they solve my issues with markers: water-based markers are lightfast (FC Pitt Artist pens) but are super streaky, whereas alcohol markers (thinking Copic here) are super smooth but not lightfast! 😂
    These are water-based and lightfast and you can fix the streaks by adding water! Great! 🙀

    • @EmilyOlsonArt

      Yay! I truly had NO complaints about these!

  • @SereneStudio

    Wow! Usually I'm not pleased with watercolor items like this bc the pigment always leaves a mark but I'm happy to see these dissolve quickly. But Aiiii I don't need anymore art supplies but I really want these, haha! Would love you see them used on landscapes and urban scenes. :D

    Question-which paper is in your spiral sketchbook you used for searching the FC watercolor markers? I enjoy watercolor markers but typically get hard lines. It looks like your swatches blended very very well. Do you think that’s due to the water brush or the paper?

    • @EmilyOlsonArt
      @EmilyOlsonArt  Год назад +1

      Good question! For the swatches I used Strathmore 500 series cotton cold pressed paper, and for the painting I used a smooth Arches hot pressed cotton paper--two very different surfaces. I think it's the quality of the ink that allows it to blend well with water and a brush.

    • @artonthecreek
      @artonthecreek Год назад

      @@EmilyOlsonArt thank you! Maybe I’ll dive in and try some. The only place I saw that it didn’t thoroughly blend was the blue in the upper right. I’ve found that I can only work in very small sections-I need to get the watercolor marker wet to blend before it sets in the paper.
      That said, your demo sure highlighted how GOOD these markers are! Very tempting…🎅🏼

    Will they activate if you do the drawing and come back later or do you have to blend before they dry right away?

    • @EmilyOlsonArt
      @EmilyOlsonArt  Год назад

      Because they are water based, they will reactivate, even after drying completely. :)

      I did like these better than Ecoline, for some reason--although they perform much the same. I think I like this color selection (for a set of 10) a little better.

    • @fruitypebbles803
      @fruitypebbles803 Год назад +1

      Ecoline markers are not lightfast, and are dye based instead of pigment based. So they’re kind of a different animal.

    • @ArtistRebeccaLS
      @ArtistRebeccaLS Год назад

      @@EmilyOlsonArt hmm 🤔 yes I’m thinking I’d come to the same conclusion as I’ve recently discovered that Ecoline are not lightfast…… that’s a problem for me

      @@fruitypebbles803 hi 👋
      Yes, I recently discovered this fact which has put me off even trying them because I can get the same vivid results from Inktense pencils which once dry are permanent and lightfast, very vivid and bright. Thank you ☺️

      The one here (big name store) actually charges more for items in the store than on their Amazon site ... at least $10 more ... also, the store has a lot less stock of the products they sell on line. So, nope. Sign of the times. Wish it weren't so ... but this isn't a culture that values learning, knowledge, the arts, and science. "Dragon sickness" prevails sadly.
