Nice video Ted! I finally got me a 52l backpack as well and great to see that I seems to fit Youbas well for overnighters. Thats the purpose with my purchase as well, this since the 75-80l backpack is overkill some times. At most of the time for me. I use a Grayl water filter, like it since it doubles up as the water flask i bring. Like stuff with dual purpose. Great video Ted!
Mr.Weirum, good morning from japan* おはよございます。よろしくお願いします。 I can feel that every single second , you are really really happy and so much proud of Fjall products. Not only I get knowledge , inspiration but also I re spect you and your hard working . When the man do things he loves, he does it with heart . That's estalish the great job.,and creates wonderful energies effect people who are watching his work. Thank you for the beautiful noble inspiration to go out to the fantastic woods or forest . I will try my best to go out even I am still never go out yet and still be afraid of mosquitoes and dark at night.. Japanese girl who never climb mount Fuji yet.
Coming from ultralight side of backpacking RUclips and this video feels very refreshing. No shade on ultralighters, they inspired me to get Durston X-Mid ))) But when watching too much of that content I get anxious about planning my trip and whether any extra gram would break my back xD
I’ve been eying that tent for sometime now, it looks awesome, what’s your take on it? Getting a solid backpack with a good carrying system makes a whole lot of difference! Slightly heavier also means better quality in a lot of cases but with that said there’s still items I out there that you can get ultralight versions of and mix that with good quality gear for an optimal mix!
@@TedWeirum totally agree on the backpack, I'd rather have one with more solid structure. As for a tent, I am a complete beginner and have never camped before. But I've done multi-day backpacking trip so knew that I want something as light as it gets and finally forced myself to splurge on Durston X-Mid 2. Might be all the videos I've watched about it, but had no problems pitching it for the very first time. It's beautifully made, indeed very compact and lightweight - no one will believe it's a double tent when packed up. Also liked that you can use inner and outer separately - and purchase them separately too in case you somehow damage yours to beyond repair. Can't wait to take it on a proper journey, counting down the days))
@@TedWeirum reporting back, it was good at withstanding some pretty harsh wind gusts AND the rainfall that was almost deafening (needed noise cancelling earphones to sleep). Pitched it as usual, then realized I'd feel safer with a so called "storm pitch" aka sides closer to the ground. An attempt to adjust it failed as I skewed the whole geometry xD Luckily, re-pitching from scratch took very little time. There also was some condensation in the morning, but I was protected from it by the mesh inner. My only worry on the hike was to break or lose any of trekking poles as they're essential to pitch Durston ))
@disartster really appreciate this brother! Glad to hear that it stood up! Do you have to have a walking stick or could a stick from the woods suffice if need be?
Nice video 🤙🏼 have you considered the flextailgear pump 2.0? Works Like a charm for your sleeping mat! Has build in light and a small powerbank. Even has a little ring in the top for hanging in the tent 😊 i use mine every trip i take. Again nice video (keep em coming 😊) have a great weekend. Regards from Denmark
I am a side sleeper and I need to carry two pillows - one for between the legs as well. I just can’t have a good sleep without them and wake up sore. The quality of your kit and choices is top notch!
Nice video, mate! Just bought my first few pieces of Fjällräven gear (Abisko 35, Greenland Winter jacket and Vidda Pro ventilated), and your videos were great to complement the info on their website with real-world experience. This was a big investment but I’m very happy with it, so thank you for the help! Quick question in case you see this: what gloves are those? I’ve been spotting them in a few of your videos and they look sturdy, would you recommend them?
Someone mentioned toilet paper. (I agree: Ted! Dude.) I would add to that a small spade. Leave no trace! I also prefer a water filter instead of tablets. Makes life SO much easier on trail (not having to carry water around), especially if you in the low lands (dvs inte i fjällen). And it feels a lot healthier than adding chemicals to your water. 😬 Apart from that - a great video! 😎
In addition to my little pillow, which is an absolute must have, must ALWAYS Mygga in the summer with in the bag, because it also goes well as a deodorant 😅 I hate nothing more than when I smell like sweat. But I also always have some pepper and salt with me in my bag 😉 Thanks again for a great video Ted 🎉
I think you shall brother, or email? Ted.Weirum@gmail.com I hurt my back and then I got a cold so I haven’t been able to do the video as planned, hopefully I’ll be able to film tomorrow!
Mate the multi tool, no doubt, is a piece to have whatever everyone else says… if you bump Into some animal stuck in a fence or bar wire and you can help it out, you’re a ducking hero! 😃🤙🏼🤙🏼 (or fix someone’s 4x4 as they’d leave without a proper tool box 😜) Cathin’up on your vids by the way 😅….
A couple things off the bat. We need a video of you just eating that chocolate bar in your bag. Who knows how long you've carried that around? Sounds like you filmed that next to a military firing range. One thing I would bring, don't have, but want to get one is a Garmin Inreach. Someone had one on the US Classic and it was pretty cool and could be a life saver if there is no cell phone for a few days as we had, even at the basecamp. Peace
I really love your videos Ted thanks for making them. I am in love with fjallraven gear now but i will have to wait a little to aford anything cuz i am a student and it is kinda hard. But i got some second hand gear and it is amazing! Have a nice day!!! :)
For just an overnighter id say you kinda missed the small speaker/headphones or i just simply missed it in the video :P oh, and another thing. You gots to has the marshmallows mein friend, aint no company like a marshmallow in the fire :D and beer
How about a folding table, chair and one of those cots that sit like 4 inches off the ground. Also rechargeable radio, lantern and flashlight with a folding solar panel. All of these things shouldn't add more than 10lbs to your pack 😂 Then you could just stay the weekend since you carried all of that out there and might want a day or two to recover 🤣
Did someone say chocolate? 🤗 So that's all I would bring with me - more of it. First bar doesn't last until I got my shoes on. And a little donkey that carries all that stuff for me.
FAK vs PFAK "First Aid Kit" in clearly market dry bag at top of pack in case someone else had to go into my pack and retrieve it. "Personal First Aid Kit" on me at all times should l become separated from my gear (small container with basics: band-aids, antibacterial ointment, alcohol wipes, cotton, electrical tape, Liquid Stitches, aspirin, Benadryl, razor, bankline, Sting Eaze).
In Japan, every products from Fjall , the prices are 2 times. For example , Kajka 75 is 239.23 eu, but in Japan is 402.86 euro.. Keb Jacket is 170.69 euro, but in Japan is 312euro. And for safty from any dangerous insect ( mosquitoes, bee, big bee, scorpion ,snake, any animals to not let them to come directly to my face , ears, eyes and neck. any insects that might drop from the trees or fly from sky, I will bring the net that cover from the top of the hat until my neck.
I would have changed the bugg spray with a sawn off shootgun. More satisfying and more what the freaking mosquitos deserve! Annars inga kommentarer eller klagomål!😉✌️ Alltid toppklass, my friend!
That yellow Exped bag looks nearly pornographic! You should blur that thing out next time, lol. I carry a very similarly over-prepared bag, including everything in waterproof bags, first aid for others, and even a 2nd headlamp should I run into some bozo who doesn't have one, or in case mine breaks. Leatherman too can help with repairs that just a knife wont be able handle. Those pliers are worth having along. That water bag has been sold out on the US page all year. :( In terms of filtration I'll carry a Katadyn BeFree filter (except in the winter), but I always keep purifier pills in my first aid/emergency kit as a backup. People love to go ultralight and shave weight, but many items are there for your safety, and I've never been in the wilderness without being well prepared.
I really enjoy your videos. Are you sponsored by Fjällräven? Because I would love to see you (or someone with similar high quality) review gear from other Scandinavian/European household names like Lundhags, Bergans, Vaude, Klättermusen etc..
Thanks brother! Since the beginning of my RUclips story I’ve made videos about their products, I liked the brand way before I got sponsored by them, today I’m fortunate to be able to do reviews and real world tests of their products, with that said it’s hard for me to do the same reviews for other brands, the brands you mention are high quality brands that make really nice products, who knows, maybe one day we can do some comparison videos! :)

Question, is the pack the olive colour for the keb 52l?
Yes, it’s called deep forest
Legend, cheers mate
@mulza 💪🏼
Love the Keb 52! I don’t think there’s a better pack out there for a day trip or even a weekend trip!
Agree! :)
I think a map for the area and a compass. I am really bad on knowing which direction to go, sometimes😂😂. Keep up the good work.
good points!
Step 2: a beer! And maybe a chair so you can sit nicely and enjoy the beer /skål (Salute to Steve Wallis)
some well thought out ideas here! :)
Thx. Great to meet you and your son at the Danish Fjällräven Classic. Do you plan to join again next year 2023?

good points there brother! I was next to a quarry! I'll talk about the Garmin for the multiday backpack video!
Is the food bag the Expedition Parka stuff sack? I'm very tempted to shove the tarp and ground sheet into the water bag just to organize.
nope, it's a stand alone pack bag, but just as you mention it could be used for that!
That cardboard coffee container fits right down my ifak! 😭😭😭

my comfort item is a titanium water pipe (aka bong) from Dangle Supply haha
