Gyro was one of those loose threads i was terrified by in HxH. His story happened nearly entirely in the dark. None of the main characters really know who he is, let alone have met him. He existed, but just barely. He was so close to our heros. Nobody noticed. We would never have known him if it weren't for his story specifically being told in the story. How many people like this exist in real life?
Togashi portraits a lot of "faces" of humanity in that arc. From the innocence of Komugi and her effect in Meruem to Gon and Gyro as a more dark contrast all the way to Netero, our capacity for destruction but also how far can the human spirit go in the pursuit of greatness.
Welfin, Bizeff and Hina are gonna look for Gyro in Meteor city. Imagine the scumbag who basically was East Goteau's government working for the underground leader of the NGL....
He parallels Meruem in a way that he grew further from humanity and increased in malice while Meruem grew closer to humanity and increased in compassion
A sort of fun fact I don’t see anyone talk about: Gyro’s backstory comes shortly after Gon and Killua hypothesize with Kite about how Ging must’ve planned their entire journey out, and must have some special destination in mind for Gon, with Gon and even more so Killua confident that this must be the case. To me this mirrors Gyro’s delusion about his father having some sort of secret love for him. It’s as if Togashi was telling the reader/viewer behind Gon’s back: “Nah, there is no reason for your journey or your life. You were just a test to see if the Pregnancy Stone item worked (or not lol). Your dad couldn’t give a crap about you. He’s a deadbeat and an asshole.” But in the most tragic and messed up way possible.
I pray health to Togashi. Honestly, Japanese should get rid of there unhealthy work ways and seek out more aids. This manga and many more don't need to be on hiatus, but they're killing themselves for these uncolored comics

His biological father didn't care for him when he was gravely ill, and that's what Gyro focuses on...but a human did help him live. An old neighbor, who fought against Gyro's father and tried to get him to care if his son died. One, who based on what we know, switched out cold towels all night for him. You can't be that angry at humanity without loving it, or loving what it should be, you hate the absence of humanity in humans, someones apathy hurts way more when they reject you than thier hatred would, and if they hate you they care, if they just abandon you they probably never cared, or are unable to care, they don't hate you but they don't love you either
I hope togashi either gives up his pride and hires an artist to draw the rest of the story, or writes the rest the story and when he dies it’ll be released to the public, It’s such a damn shame togashi writes stories so well and ends them prematurely.
Gyro would become the most terrifying villain in all of anime. He would be the true meaning of ''evil'' for example we have villains like hisoka, chrollo and tserriednich. People consider these characters ''evil'' but these people do evil for a purpose and have a motive behind it and have fun while doing it too. Then we have gyro fully becoming evil just because of hating humanity. not doing it for himself or anyone else only for the purpose of evil to rid of humanity. i wish we could see him one day but i doubt we will see him at this rate.
THANK YOU!!! Everyone I know claims that Gyro's story was boring and didn't need to be in the arc, but I loved Gyro's story, and I'm excited for when he comes back into the story.
I really hope that Togashi's health gets better because his writing is beautiful. I would love to learn more about Gyro as well as see the overall story progress. 🙏
Togashi's words from his interview with Fujimaki Tadatoshi (Kuroko no Basket): "After getting “Hunter x Hunter” serialized, one of my goals was to aim for a “long term serialization”. When I thought about this, it meant I would need to create an extremely simplified protagonist. If I created a detailed character, when constructing the plot, it will become very troublesome. That is why I shifted my attention onto the antagonists. In the end, let the leader speak, and ignore the characters around him first. Then I would be able to decide on things like his ability, or who he should fight with. Then I develop it into an ability that no one has drawn before, or think about a new victory method."
always thought that gyro was completely evil and never really thought about what Welfin said which brought a whole new light to Gyro with him not only being able to be "evil incarnate" but to have small amounts of "grey" which represents the small humanity that he had as a child and adult life with at least Welfin who almost idolizes him. Have a great day and keep up the amazing work this video was great!

THANK YOU for talking about this guy! I don't think enough people talk about this very peculiar character we get serious focus off and on throughout the anime/manga. A very dark and undoubtedly important figure in the world of HxH indeed. If we ever get to that point, I really look forward to seeing Gyro in the future of the story. Considering everything that has happened to Gon, it makes me brain go crazy thinking what his ultimate meeting with the boy who once wielded Nen could possibly entail. One thing is for certain, is it isn't gonna be pleasant.
While I'm surely influenced by my love of HxH, I find that your content is carefully considered, well enunciated and easy to follow, and extrapolates subtleties I may have missed. If I were to ever make a RUclips video of my own in a bizarre twist, I would strive for your structure and level of quality.
I watched the show but I never read the manga or remember his background in the show that much. I only knew him as the faction leader that got murked by the ants. I never knew how rich this character is and how much potential he has. This literally blows my mind and to how I missed this in the show.
to me, seeing the plot continue with gyro would be more interesting for me than continue with the dark continent. the dark continent is so expansive and large, its hard to even know where to start. I fear togashi might lose the plot trying to tackle too many things in the dark continent at once. Its almost a universe within itself . but with gyro, its one single character than we can have more time to get to know. the story could give itself time to breathe and be more intimate if it just focused on gyros threat to humanity.
Huh, I've only seen the anime so I didn't even realize that he had been reborn as an ant and kept his entire personality. I've been meaning to start the manga for a long time, and details like that give me even more of a reason to do so
Gyro has the potential to be the most evil HxH villain we've had, and he'd have a good intentions because he basically lived through the experiences that made Meruem decide humanity should be pitied; but where Meruem became softer, Gyro would be ruthless and charismatic. And we'll never get to see it happen.
13:13- It would be momentous if it was setting up to be similar to his own father- Gyro's advice and seeming compassion turning out to be lies and to be interpreted as inherently selfish manipulation. It would come full circle and it would be a nice twist that

Yes, its selfish and personal, but i would personally fly out to japan and give you all my money to hire assistants or back supports, personal massuers, ANYTHING, to see the end of this manga.
I definitely understand the sentiment but personally I’m fine if we never get another chapter again if it means that Togashi lives a long, happy and healthy rest of his life. Miura’s passing out that into perspective for me. It’d be cool if we got more but hey, can’t complain with what we’ve gotten!
@@Aleczandxr that is true, if togashi decided to retire it where it is and go live his life happily and healthily, id be fine with it then. I guess THAT is my biggest fear.
@@tehawsumninja I have discovered HxH in early 2020. At the time, I wasn’t in a very good state mentally and with everything going on it only got worse. I loved this series so much that I took time off work in order to focus on solely watching the anime. When I finished it, I immediately went on to rewatch it twice. I felt I would never find something that resonated with me like this again. I proceeded to watch quite a few anime last year, but here I am today rewatching HxH again, little over halfway though. I guess that confirms the fears that I had at the time. I would join you in heartbeat in doing anything to be able to witness the true ending of this series. I am glad that @Aleczandxr is still making HxH analysis videos. Reading the comments and seeing fans in the same exact position as us somewhat eases the pain from the uncertainties around the continuity of the series.
his father passing by without any care showed gyro total indifference. the reason that was the final straw is because the opposite of love isn't hate, its indifference. if gyros dad stepped in just to make things worse and hurt him even more then that would keep their tether alive. if he continued causing him harm nothing would change and they would continue to live together. its also the reason why he wants the whole world to hate him. cause throughout his suffering the whole world didn't know him and continues not to. he doesn't want the world to be apathetic to him the way his dad was and since its easier to earn peoples hatred he will do exactly that. all just so he can get people to care about him albeit in a negative way
Imagine if Gyro goes to whale island and just fucking murders Mito and their grandma while everyone are going to the dark continent and its just Gon with zero aura to stop him like bruh.
many sleeps on gyro. I even forgot togashi mentioned him again on mini training arc. I thought he's backstory simply imprint to all chimera ant that was born to rule over human including meruem. thankyou for your videos.
Aleczandxr, I love all of your analytical essay videos and I just have to say your voice would be perfect for an anime dub. You just have an interesting and articulate voice that stands out.
I'm not the first to point this out but: One of Welfin's core traits is how skeptical he is of everyone who crosses his path. So it speaks miles about how powerful and charismatic Gyro must be for Welfin to have placed his full faith in him.
Ikalgo works out who Welfin was as a human because his personality hasn't changed. Though, if you watch Welfin's life flash before his eyes in his scene with Meruem, it looks like he had a much happier life as an adult than as a child, so maybe his personality did change. Who knows.
And it's been years since his introduction, and there isnt a sign of Gyro. With Togashi taking a hiatus every 10 chapters, it might be 20 years before we see Gyro, hell maybe Togashi forgot about Gyro already.
You never ceases to amaze me my friend 🙏🏾🖤 I really hope we get to see the next phase in Gyro story one day because the potential is just immense ✌🏾 Many thanks to you Alex 🖤🖤

Gyro has huge potential if Hunter x Hunter ever returns
I hope togashi either gives up his pride and hires an artist to draw the rest of the story, or writes the rest the story and when he dies it’ll be released to the public, It’s such a damn shame togashi writes stories so well and ends them prematurely.
Hunter X Hunter coming back.
Also, why is Togashi so good at making antagonists/villains ?
@Uxküll This could mean it's good that he takes as much time away as he feels like :0
Togashi's words from his interview with Fujimaki Tadatoshi (Kuroko no Basket):
"After getting “Hunter x Hunter” serialized, one of my goals was to aim for a “long term serialization”.
He's 100% a Specialist, too. Think about how horrifying T-Prince is. What Nen power could Gyro have...?
Exactly
I really relate to gyros story, it’s hard to find peace sometimes. This really came at a great time for me thanks 🙏🏽
You’re welcome!
@@Aleczandxrwhen the new uploads??
always thought that gyro was completely evil and never really thought about what Welfin said which brought a whole new light to Gyro with him not only being able to be "evil incarnate" but to have small amounts of "grey" which represents the small humanity that he had as a child and adult life with at least Welfin who almost idolizes him. Have a great day and keep up the amazing work this video was great!
Thank you! You have a great one as well!
Take me to 2035 when we see grown up Gon and Killua VS Gyro.
Still insane we haven’t gotten a new chapter in two years but can still have great content like this from what we already have,
Togashi you are a great mangaka
Its crazy how togashi introduce this character for only in a chapter and a couple minutes and make him intruiging Cant even believe this is a long video on a character thats been shown with not a lot of screentime great video. 😎👍 I also really loved that Gon And Gyro Parallels one of my fav part on video reallll good.
Thanks!
You're very welcome!!
While I'm surely influenced by my love of HxH, I find that your content is carefully considered, well enunciated and easy to follow, and extrapolates subtleties I may have missed. If I were to ever make a RUclips video of my own in a bizarre twist, I would strive for your structure and level of quality.
Shit im proud of you for getting that sponsor keep making the best videos on youtube
Thank you!
@@Aleczandxr amen sir!
Today on: Hiatus x Hiatus! A villian we'll never get to know (probably in our lifetime)!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
LET’S GOOOOO SPONSOR BABYYYY !!!! Go get that bag homie you WELL WELL deserve it ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
I watched the show but I never read the manga or remember his background in the show that much. I only knew him as the faction leader that got murked by the ants. I never knew how rich this character is and how much potential he has. This literally blows my mind and to how I missed this in the show.
Yo wtf I just finished HxH like a day ago. Perfect timing lol
Lmao well thats a rip now we have to wait another century until the artist makes more
You beautiful bastard, you really have the best character in HXH in a vid.
Nothing better than seeing a new aleczandxr hunter video in my feed
He is the biggest mystery. I hope Togashi is cooking something big.
to me, seeing the plot continue with gyro would be more interesting for me than continue with the dark continent. the dark continent is so expansive and large, its hard to even know where to start. I fear togashi might lose the plot trying to tackle too many things in the dark continent at once. Its almost a universe within itself .
but with gyro, its one single character than we can have more time to get to know. the story could give itself time to breathe and be more intimate if it just focused on gyros threat to humanity.
If I found a magic lamp with a genie, I’m using two of my wishes on ending HunterxHunter’s hiatus
Your third wish will have to end the next one.
So three new chapters
How about you wish for the entire series to reach it's end the same way as if the creator wanted it to but instantly
@@Santeri64 I'll take it under these conditions
look like you really found a genie after all.
Gyro is a bonafide villain, this man is a PROBLEM.
13:13- It would be momentous if it was setting up to be similar to his own father- Gyro's advice and seeming compassion turning out to be lies and to be interpreted as inherently selfish manipulation. It would come full circle and it would be a nice twist that
"assuming it is ever continued" togashi. Please. I'm begging you, I know you have bad back pain and other health issues and i know this is basically a thankless job in conparison to all you put into it, but I'm asking you, praying, that you do get there and finish this masterpiece. Hunter x Hunter is by far my favorite piece of media, next to berserk, and the thought of one day waking up as crushed as i was when i got the news of his passing stays in the back of my mind. Yes, its selfish and personal, but i would personally fly out to japan and give you all my money to hire assistants or back supports, personal massuers, ANYTHING, to see the end of this manga.
Same bro berserk and hunter is literally top fucking 2 its sad they are both either finished or on hiatus
I guess i just mean more that it would drive me crazy knowing he had so much more to tell and share with us but his health kept having him delay it and he ultimately puts it off with no instructions on how it should end and someone tries and takes it over and finish it if he passes suddenly.
Reading the comments and seeing fans in the same exact position as us somewhat eases the pain from the uncertainties around the continuity of the series.
his father passing by without any care showed gyro total indifference. the reason that was the final straw is because the opposite of love isn't hate, its indifference. if gyros dad stepped in just to make things worse and hurt him even more then that would keep their tether alive. if he continued causing him harm nothing would change and they would continue to live together. its also the reason why he wants the whole world to hate him. cause throughout his suffering the whole world didn't know him and continues not to. he doesn't want the world to be apathetic to him the way his dad was and since its easier to earn peoples hatred he will do exactly that. all just so he can get people to care about him albeit in a negative way
It's insane that you can make a vid like this on a character who literally has no character design
I have waited so long for you to do a gyro video. You don't understand how happy this makes me
Imagine if Gyro goes to whale island and just fucking murders Mito and their grandma while everyone are going to the dark continent and its just Gon with zero aura to stop him like bruh.
Since a read gyro story I fucking love is backstory. I can wait to see his meeting with gon and what story has in mind with this character
Ayy, props for the ad. More money coming your way is definitely deserved, in my books.
Bro, HxH has some much to tell, there is so much history to see... Unfortunately, probably we will never see nothing of it 😢
I forgot who he is and therefore thought it's video based on the manga only content.
Really sad he wasn’t a flatbread full of lamb meat
Gon vs Gyro JAN KEN NOM NOM NOM
many sleeps on gyro.
That's a really nice compliment, thank you!
let’s gooo 17 minute hxh analysis
I'm not the first to point this out but:
One of Welfin's core traits is how skeptical he is of everyone who crosses his path. So it speaks miles about how powerful and charismatic Gyro must be for Welfin to have placed his full faith in him.
True, but was he like that before turning into an ant?
Ikalgo works out who Welfin was as a human because his personality hasn't changed. Though, if you watch Welfin's life flash before his eyes in his scene with Meruem, it looks like he had a much happier life as an adult than as a child, so maybe his personality did change. Who knows.
These videos are the only thing filling the void of no hxh chapters for the past few years lol
The best HxH analyzer is back!
Can’t wait to see Gyro’s story fleshed out in 2050
The unique approach to art direction for his story in the anime is very good
Gyro was this close 🤏 to being the greatest and finale antagonist of the series
And it's been years since his introduction, and there isnt a sign of Gyro. With Togashi taking a hiatus every 10 chapters, it might be 20 years before we see Gyro, hell maybe Togashi forgot about Gyro already.
Maybe Togashi is Gyro's dad 😳
You never ceases to amaze me my friend 🙏🏾🖤 I really hope we get to see the next phase in Gyro story one day because the potential is just immense ✌🏾 Many thanks to you Alex 🖤🖤
This video kinda hurts knowing we don't really know if Hunter x Hunter will even return.
Jordan Peterson said that anyone (especially kids) with a hardcore niave worldview will shatter when that worldview is contradicted. Gyro reflects that to a t.
Oh, he can be right?
@@kostajovanovic3711 have you ever listened to him? Hes right a lot of the time. I particularly enjoy his takes on parenting because that's where I am in life right now and he has very good advice for that.
Absolute banger of a video. Good shit.
Thanks!
I hope that if Hunter x Hunter continues togashi's doesn't forgot about this character. This story reminds me a little bit to that of kawaki from boruto. in terms that both feel empty and the backstory.
I hope Togashi comes back but whatever the reason behind his hiatus is, I will still respect his decision. Besides, it's the journey that matters.
He's health problems are pretty bad and with no sight to get better, but I agree. Even if HXH never continue, what Togashi has gave to the world is more than enough
@@jurgenparkour9337 sounds familiar last 4 weeks( an što an extent, last 12 years)
I really wish we’d see more of gyro
Oh yeah I kinda forgot that guy existed. I hope he turns out to be awesome, and knowing Togashi he very well might be, but that’s if the series continues
I was gonna leave, but then i remembered you are the one who made that Hachiman analysis. Good job!
"If it ever continues" :(
Thank you so much for always providing such insightful analysis on HxH! You are my favourite anime channel!!!
My pleasure! Glad you enjoy them.
I believe Gairo is very much like Envy from FMA, hating humanity with all his being while still being a part of it even if he desires it or not
GYRO MAY BE MELEORON. 'Hunter x Hunter Theory' made an awfully-convincing video 'bout this.
7:01
The straw isn't abandonment, its indifference.
When I first watched HxH, I thought that Meruem was Gyro. I mean there was so much time given to him before the king was born, and I felt like Meruem even looked like him. So when they were doing the name reveal (I forgot that the queen said it already) I thought they were gonna say Gyro, but then I got confused.
Just a little pointless anecdote, but I feel like even if Togashi did do that it would’ve worked as a storyline as well
Great analysis. A similar character that comes to mind is Isaac from the Castlevania netflix series, so if Gyro goes down the same path we could see one of the greatest anti villains in anime🙏🏾
Thanks!
