That's why I grabbed a levante Instead of a Tahoe was almost the same price lol

As long as someone idiot pays that for it
He means sell it and pay 10k to upgrade the truck.
Lol, Dave, $10k buys him the same truck he has 🤣.
Yeah, just tried looking. Most for $10k and around 100k miles for Silverados are beat and rusty.

Priorities, some ppl value cars more than a house
Our house is about as much as me and my wife’s vehicles haha do not really need a huge house. No payments on anything past bills and property tax.
lol what's wrong with a car being as much or more than a house? Dont need a big house. Its very simple to have a more expensive cat than a house

@@vqinred9689 what's wrong with having more things going down in value than things going up in value hmm I wonder
As someone who just went used truck shopping for two months straight, a decent truck that isn't rusted or have 200k miles is almost $20k. A dodge ram with rusted wheel arches and a leaking transmission is $20k now. I found a clean base model tundra with 150k miles for $17k
A Tundra isn't the best example. Anything that says Toyota on it is going to be way over priced. But you're right, prices are crazy high these days.

I was down to nearly nothing, sleeping in my sister's living room. Bought a new truck with almost 100 percent financed, put it to work installing plumbing fixtures, turned my whole life around. The 400 a month payment felt like 4000 though 😨😆
Like you?
My dad used to drive me through neighborhoods and tell me the same thing Dave observed. Most people live in a modest home but drive brand new cars. If they’d instead invest in their appreciating assets they’d have more wealth.
Lol $10k truck right now? Does it still have doors?
2019 before all these happened I got 2011 Nissan Frontier for 8200. It still runs great and no buyers remorse getting it.
The part that really gets my goat about people who buy more car than they need is the fact that they park it on the street or in the driveway. They have a garage full of not car so they can keep stuff they do not use. They have a car they can not afford, parked in the elements so it goes down in value even faster.
TRUE
Just recently had a relative get like a 2012 used truck that's in pretty good shape for the upper teens. That's definitely a fine enough upgrade for the time being. Do something like that
Dave can I afford to super size my mcdonalds meal? Dave: "whats your household income"
🤣🤣
This comment😂
Dave would legit start in with the “what’s your household income?” and “Do you have cash past 3-6 months of emergency fund”
Happy meal for you.
Yeah, I’d definitely go to a 25k truck. 10 is barely worth the work of finding a different one. But that is bonus money that won’t always be there. Best treat it like it’s not going to happen again
Dave didn't ask the pertinent question (as he seldom does) of "Why do you need another truck?" and "Why do you need this heavy-duty truck?" The answer may be that once they move into the farm, he will need something that will haul / tow a heavy load and his 1/2-ton truck just won't cut it any longer. The prices of used 2500 / 3500 series trucks are OUTRAGEOUS right now, although they seem to be decreasing slightly. I've been looking for one for about a year and can't find the one I want at a price I am willing to give. Pre-emission diesels, you can forget it.
Buy an old Tundra
He's renting he just pays a flat monthly fee and someone else takes care of everything. Dude doesn't need a truck. He wants a truck, but doesn't need a truck.
20 Years old?? DON"T DO IT!!!!!!!
He's dumber than a rock to get married at 20.
I can totally appreciate the not having your money in wheels rather than real estate! I'm hanging on to our 2011 Camry right now as our only car while our two properties are worth 1.7 mil combined. 😆
I think people feel they need the biggest baddest truck to live a farm life. We have gotten by with a Chevy Colorado on ours pretty well. Unless his farm requires moving dozens of heads of cattle every day those big trucks arent really necessary to have daily.
Drive that 2002 Chevy until it dies. It’s going to be a better built truck than anything built after 2010. It will probably go 300k miles. 👍🇺🇸👍
Amen.....my daily driver is a 95 GMC 3500 and I have my 83 F 150......I'll drive my older trucks any day before I'll think about a newer truck.......
He said its rusting out its possible it will run but can be unsafe
It is not a proper way to live driving such an old truck around. No one will respect him or appreciate him. It is not safe because it doesn’t have all of the modern safety features you find on the new trucks. No the right answer for him is to get a proper truck that tells the world he is a somebody, but is also safe for his family to drive in.
@@costco_pizza You are too funny 🤣
That truck he’s driving is 10k where I live lol
Dave really 10000 gets you a 10 year old 200k mile single cab with 2wd
True. Every neighborhood I cut through there are massive vanity trucks parked outside because they cant fit in the garage. I went to an open house once and the owner barely fit a lifted pickup truck in the driveway. Well it brought down the property value because it made the home look smaller and ruined the curb appeal...unless of course truck conveys haha

@@reese85 Dave said you shouldn't drive anything more than half your yearly income.
My wife and I make gross $160k total. No kids yet. Bought a 2015 Kia Sedona minivan with 72k miles for $16,500 drive out. We sold her 2005 Acura TL and put down $4500 and financed $12k at 2.25% at 60 months at $211 a month. I don't think a small car payment is bad if it's a tiny amount of your take home pay.
Well Dave I did what you said, I traded in my 2002 Chevy with 170k miles and bought me a 2009 Honda Ridgeline with 254k miles so I could keep it within the price range. Unfortunately, it turned into a pile of loose parts the second I drove off the used car lot

Dave's grandpa, "what that thing cost?...he whistled... that's dumber than a rock", fast forward 40 years. Da 🍎 doesn't fall far from da tree" 🤣
They joke about needing an F350 instead of an F150 on a farm as if it’s not true. But it is in fact true. Almost every peace of equipment can’t be pulled by a F150. If the guy is gonna run a farm, he needs a F350 minimum. If not a second truck that’s a F450.
Yup 60hp+ tractor and trailer exceed all capacities of 1/2 tons. That’s before any implements being attached.
Not to mention they need a proper car that tells the world they have made it. That they are somebodies. Driving a 20 year old truck with that many miles is not safe, and is not a proper way to live.
How about a used truck
Get Kenworth W900L instead....with a cat engine
Used F350's are very reasonable, not just a few year used, but like 15+yo used.
I wonder how much POD's is paying for the product placement
I know several people who own small houses and are happy with them and buy excellent cars in cash.
It's, "Dave, MAY I buy a new truck?"
Wouldn't an F250+ be a complete 💯 tax write ✍️ write off for a farm truck?? And probably the best most legitimate use of the vehicle tax write off?
If it was used only for farm work yes. It seems like his personal vehicle as well so he’d have to record what percentage he used it for work. That doesn’t change the fact that 40k is out of his price range. 20k is doable and 10k is comfortable
So to avoid tax, he should buy more expensive truck. 😓
@@unities82 better than giving money to the govt and driving a POS

Keep life simple and modest especially financially in the early years of your marriage. Especially if you're this young
Because especially at this young age what you want to be focusing on is learning how to be married. Learning what it means to have a spouse, function as a unified team etc.
Life is going to introduce enough stress of its own without your input. So while you're working on those early years of marriage and building the beginning of your life don't introduce potential complications that aren't necessary. Dave is right they're biting off a lot at a very young age in a very short amount of time.
One of the problems with being young is that you're immune sometimes to being able to realize that you can't just do everything and be invincible to problems.
Think long term, not what sounds fun at the moment
Dave is unrealistic if you can get a truck for 10k that doesn't have major problems
It’s hard to find ANY good used vehicle for under 10k now.

How does one acquire a home + 100K in equity at ages 20 & 21?? Dave never asks this. Someone in the comments please explain the scenarios in which this would occur.
Agreed, perhaps they had their income together living at 18, and saved up the equity in 2-3 years with some down payment money from their parents who knows.
Inheritance or family gift.
Could have been saving for years as a teen to put a big down payment. Pandemic related appreciation. Bought a fixer upper for cheap and fixed it up a bit. Maybe they were gifted some money. Or a combination of all of these. It's not common, but not impossible.
I had that by age 26, but not 21
I think the area he’s in is cheaper and if you bought before 2020, just about everyone gained 100k in equity.
10k won't get you any sort of a reliable truck.
Anything is ‘reliable’ as long as you know how to maintain it.
@@Erix7810 You clearly have missed the point. If you buy it used then you had absolutely no hand in maintaining it up to that point. Also there is no such thing as a $10k reliable truck with current prices. Also any truck that does cost $10k even if it wasn't totally beat up is going to be reaching end of life for a lot of wear parts and need serious cash dropped on it to replace those items. Also no matter how much maintenance you do vehicles are going to break and need repairs. To think otherwise is to not live on reality
I bought some nice trucks around 10k, but I rather spend around 15k and get like a 2013 Chevy/Gmc with leather seats and lower miles
When I want a new truck I just listen to this clip and I don't need the truck!😃
The sad reality is that now any new vehicle will set you back. Even some of the used vehicles hold their values pretty well - talking Toyota's. What's devastating is that household incomes have not kept up with the cost of living, transportation, and the housing market. I personally wouldn't buy any domestic or German vehicle, unless I need the capacity's they have (such as towing and payload of a truck) - Toyota and Honda's I feel comfortable with because they generally hold their values much better than any other vehicle. Buying new comes with a warranty, which is one of the only benefits of getting new... other than being able to drive all the miles yourself.
Married at 20
For someone who boasts that he can drive any vehicle he wants, I find it hilarious that he actually thinks one can buy a decent truck for 10K. This guy's not trying to impress or life to an image, he's preparing to buy a family farm and will probably need that truck. Buy the truck dude.
