Different but great. This song fits Blaze perfectly. Also, I think they gave this one to him, so Bruce won't likely be doing this one for comparison anyway.
This song is great. Love the lyrics and the change of melody & tempo. Again you're right, Bruce is Bruce. He is basically the voice of Iron Maiden. But Blaze did a kick-ass job on this song. He hit the nail right on the head of this song. The music and lyrics scream out Maiden & I don't think anyone else could have done a better job than Blaze. Again Bruce can sing ANYTHING but this is all Blaze & makes this song come alive. UP THE IRONS 🤘🤘

The fans back in the day did not made justice. Bruce left because he WANTED and Blaze kept the thing going. Who knows if they've stopped at the time? Every single damn show trowing stuff in Blaze and cursing the guy. Shame on everyone from that period that did those things.

The winter of 1996 when BEST OF THE BEAST was being released, Virus (unreleased, new at the time) was the first track on the double album and it was a small promotional and selling point of the new compilation. Of course, it was also released as collectors’s singles, but those were usually harder to find and much pricier.
brilliant song! One of the best from the 90's! the reason it did not appear at X factor was because the song was written after the X Factor tour as a reaction of media's negative focus on the band and Blaze at the time.. Personally I think Blaze is a great vocalist and he do not deserve all the shit some people say about him. The reason Maiden is still playing is because he saved their ass during the 90's. If not, Harris probably would have given up the band.
Blaze was a fine vocalist, but he did not save the band. Hundreds of people auditioned for the spot, and Steve got many tapes send to him. He even considered Michael Kiske at one point, because he was the only one available, who could sing the old tunes with some dignity left. But he wanted a British singer, and for some weird reason he chose Blaze, who, though he is a good singer, did not at all fit into the Iron Maiden style, and was totally unable to sing songs from the Bruce-era :/
***** That´s my point. They should have chosen a singer who was able to sing the songs. Come on man! You cannot tune down a Maiden-song, they are way too complex and melodic.
***** You think that "The X Factor" is their best album ever?! Okay, that it maybe a matter of taste. I know they did not want a Bruce-clone, but it doesn´t make any sense to chose a singer who cannot sing the old anthems. If they changed their name to something else, and said that they didn´t wanted to play their 80´s stuff again -it would be fine! They continued to play old songs like for example "the Trooper" and it became rather embarrassing when they did.
Can't Iron Maiden pull a Helloween and get Blaze back to co-front the band with Bruce? After all they did an "add, not replace" thing once, when Bruce and Adrian both rejoined and Janick was not asked to leave. :)
With the COVID pandemic occurring i would love to see Maiden play Virus on their Senjutsu tour. That's one awesome thing that would come out of the pandemic seeing Maiden play that underrated tune for the first time live and seeing Bruce sing one of the most underrated Blaze era tunes.
Couldn't disagree more. Some of the best Maiden material ever has come from the reunion era, in particular BNW, DOD and AMOLAD, which are comparable in quality to Maiden's glory years. No hate to Blaze, but 90's Maiden is the worst Maiden has ever been. Bruce's solo stuff, on the other hand, is amazing.
@CVM GAM Accident of Birth and Chemical Wedding are classic albums. The reviews back that up. BNW, DOD and AMOLAD all rate very highly as well, and again, the majority of reviews back that up.
@CVM GAM nah, AOB and CW are classics with virtually no filler, and I can count the number of filler tracks on the first three reunion Maiden era albums on one hand. Classic Maiden though? Half of NOTB, POM and Powerslave are filler. SIT is a bit more solid than the previous three albums, but lacks the standout tracks. The only one that really doesn't have either of these issues is SSOASS.
Personally, I think this is one of the best socially inspired lyrics. It's relevance to society today is almost prophetic. That's what makes Maiden great. "As soon as the back is turned, treachery is planned."
I liked the direction Maiden was going to with Blaze. They could have been a totally different band than what they're today Also Bruce was creating very good albums in his solo career.
I don’t give a damn what a lot of people have said about Bailey in Maiden. Yes, he had to take Dickinson’s place, yes, he did not have the same singing ability... So what? I love this album and for nothing in the world I will deny it. Up the Irons till my very last breath
I love this song and I love Blaze's era in Iron Maiden. It's unspeakable how I miss Blaze in Iron Maiden, but I cannot turn back time. I wish Blaze returned to IM and recorded another The X Factor-like album with IM.
my god! I'm 26 years old! I first listened to this track at like 15-16 and fell in love with it...still after a decade the awesome riff at 4:24, causes me the exact same chills down the spine!!!!
It's really sad that Blaze never got the recognition he deserved while in Maiden. I've always loved the material they did together, and Blaze is still one of my favorite vocalists.
He wasnt the appropriet singer for this band, so he didnt get the recognbition. I like his solo albums Silicon Messiah and The man who would not die, much more then his albums with IM. As well as Wolfsbane Live fast, die fast album. HE WASNT the right choice for IM. Simply cos his not in a league with singers like Bruce, Dio, Rob and Paul.
A fantastic real life psychology lesson from maiden. Very deep meanings, be careful narcissists/sociopaths/psychopaths live among us and rule our world....
@@marcochesti3750 the world had not yet been as racist, corrupt and betrayed when they actually wrote the song....only another proof of the lyrics being more fitting today....

I like how they only had three shots of Dave Murray in the intro 'cos he is incapable of not having a cheerful red face for an extended period of time. I think everyone's dad has a mate who looks like him. Doesn't talk much just looks a bit pissed in the background.
Jay Maw Iron Maiden always cared about the lyrics, they all are thought provocative, making us to make a stand, and that´s one of the reasons I love them so much, they tells the truth in a very challenging and poetic way...
Had the pleasure of meeting Steve and Blaze all in less than a year (this year) and I could not be more grateful for X Factor and Virtual XI. X Factor is the darkest album ever released by Maiden and songs like 2 a.m are so applicable to all of our lives. Another two incredible albums from the dudes. Every Maiden album is perfect in my opinion.
Wuhan-400 was the name of the Virus that decimated most of the humans ,in a 1981 Novel by Dean Koontz , that was written to occur in the future in the year 2020.....
@@OhNyo69 LMAO 🤣
Prophetic as always....and warning years before
One of the best Maiden songs ever! Never been so updated!
No. Not in a million years
Blaze and Bruce both bring dynamic to maiden sound.
Personally, I think this is one of the best socially inspired lyrics. It's relevance to society today is almost prophetic. That's what makes Maiden great. "As soon as the back is turned, treachery is planned."
All in your mind, all in your head, try to relate it. All in your mind, all in your head, try to escape it.
I didn't get what he means by 'the rats in cellar, you know who you are'. Should I (the listener) consider myself as a 'rat in cellar' or what?
by far my favorite song with Blaze... Bruce kills Lord of the Flies and Sign of the Cross live, but this song will forever be Blaze's
Bruce can't sing Lord of the flies at all........ That song is not meant to be screamed!
Ketis1985 honestly, I think he sings it way to high loosing the power and meaning in the process....
susanne williamsson Correct. That song is just not suitable for Bruce but what does suit for him is the clansman..
Bruce does a miracle turning these awfully singing songs into something actually great
there is so much truth in this song
Blaze é um ótimo vocalista
Sinto uma energia inexplicável quando ouço essa música
Essa é exclusiva
How not? Is the most influential metal band from all times. Iron Maiden will be in 100 years what is Vivaldi, Beethoven and Mozart for our times.
I liked the direction Maiden was going to with Blaze. They could have been a totally different band than what they're today
Also Bruce was creating very good albums in his solo career.
Blaze the fans didnt treat you the way you deserved. Respect...
I wish Blaze returned to IM and recorded another The X Factor-like album with IM.
best part 05:09 when the keyboard begins ! chills !!! i love this song!!!! stop fighting about dickinson vs Blaze... both are kings!!!!
Hace tiempo que no escuchaba este tema, Es muy bueno!!!! grande Maiden, y con Bayley hicieron de maravilla
Patricio Viera Si igual yo lo volví a escuchar después de un largo tiempo, maravillosa canción.
Blaze's voice = melancholy.
Bruce's voice = epic.
and Paul was real metal!
they sing in different ranges. Pual was more punky.
As we near 2023, such an actual and accurate discourse. Timeless work.
You should be worried about the tyranny and dictatorship of your government.
@@Mogamishu yeah, we all should.
I would love to hear Bruce sing this song live
belive me,me too..
Why is this song not on Spotify? It is Great.
my god! I'm 26 years old! I first listened to this track at like 15-16 and fell in love with it...still after a decade the awesome riff at 4:24, causes me the exact same chills down the spine!!!!
yeah the riff at that time are helpin this song tobe really good:)
Incredible heavy riff.
this song was on the best of the beast CD for a reason.
This Maiden era has nothing to envy any other just different and good enough in it’s time 🤘🏼💪🏼
It's really sad that Blaze never got the recognition he deserved while in Maiden.
He’s definitely top 3
this song has a strong message
Ario Triwibowo too bad not too many people really know what this is about
good song and great the times whit Blaze Bayley great voice and performance
Whether a coincidence or not, we thank you Iron Maiden for quarantine.
the camera person sure likes his zoom!
Extreme close up! WooooOAAAAAhhhh!!
+Nick Cervenka excellent
I love all these ridiculous early-mid 90s videos with the ridiculous zooming.
I wish my camcorder could do that.
Girish Patel and the singer sure likes killing my brain cells
so many memories.... good old dayz
A fantastic real life psychology lesson from maiden. Very deep meanings, be careful narcissists/sociopaths/psychopaths live among us and rule our world....
Lord Prutsikas they always tells the truth in their poetic and brutal way, that´s one of the reasons they are the best, by FAR !!
Lord Prutsikas Globalists.
Welcome in the world of Trump/Salvini/Putin and Co. !
@@marcochesti3750 the world had not yet been as racist, corrupt and betrayed when they actually wrote the song....only another proof of the lyrics being more fitting today....
@@susannewilliamsson8339 The world has definitely seen worse than today
blaze was the dark phase of the maiden, that is undeniable, he made his legacy, the guy was badass and continues to be UP FUCKING THE IRONS
The part starting from 4:23 reminds me so much of the first album/ "Killers" era..... very early Iron Maiden vibe, supergreat!
I would like to hear this song on a live setlist someday
Luvvvvv the funky grooove solo!
One of my favorite albums. Up the Irons.
Finally this great song has the recognition it deserves
This song just builds and builds.
The x factor is a masterpiece that people are starting too love now
Is this on x factor?
@@dwainwilson5080 no but it should of been
@@dwainwilson5080this is single after X-Factor
Literally one of the greatest Maiden songs ever, I love it so much.💪💪💪😛😛😛🤣🤣🤣♥️♥️♥️
im crying . Love to maiden for ever .
Blaze, a brave man who took Bull by the horns, at Maiden's front line in the 90’s. Good job Blaze!
I like how they only had three shots of Dave Murray in the intro 'cos he is incapable of not having a cheerful red face for an extended period of time. I think everyone's dad has a mate who looks like him. Doesn't talk much just looks a bit pissed in the background.
He is the cutest 😍
This comment, even 5 years later deserves some more likes.
Blaze is very powerfull voice. I Love it... Thanks, Blaze!!!!
Even the Iron Maiden is singing "muggers, backstabers, two faced elite..". :I ..wake up people..truth is everywhere!
Jay Maw Iron Maiden always cared about the lyrics, they all are thought provocative, making us to make a stand, and that´s one of the reasons I love them so much, they tells the truth in a very challenging and poetic way...
2:05 Nicko, even when he's serious, seems like he's joking around.
Such a great track!!! Blaze sounds immense on this! Probably the best song from his stint in the band. Up The Irons...always!
This. Song. Is. Absolutely. Amazing.
@@kevinr278 Oh absolutely. The lyrics hit so close to home
@Celestial Dragoness Yes! For sure!
Thank you blaze,!! You are never forgotten and always honored brother.
RUclips is trying to tell you Maiden predicted the future
Wuhan-400 was the name of the Virus that decimated most of the humans ,in a 1981 Novel by Dean Koontz , that was written to occur in the future in the year 2020.....
Then in 1994 Steven King book THE STAND(1978) was made a TV miniseries.
I love Maiden , but perhaps the Novel Coronavirus was predicted a bit earlier than this video.
@@brainmog825 The Simpsons probably predicted it.
@@benjaminmaughan2957 Well, Stephen Kings THE STAND( 1978 ) but the TV miniseries 1994 , The Georgia Guidestones 1980 ( Rule #1 Keep the World Population under 500,000,000), 1981 Dean Koontz predicts the Wuhan-400 to decimate Humans by the year 2020 , 1993 the Simpsons have a Chinese bug shipped to the U.S.A. the reek havoc, and much later Iron Maiden ( one of the Most Prolific Metal Bands on Earth , Still Rockin) well, maybe they weren't the first, but enough different sources seems to agree that it is here now, but somebody should totally interview Mr. Koontz as ask how he knew so much about the future.
So did disturbed another way to die/down with the sickness and rem it's the end of the world as we know it
You have no idea
Great Blaze!!!!!!
Song= Expert
Video= Amateur
Honestly looks like it’s a beginner band fresh out of high school shooting their first video trying to look cool 😂. Song is pretty good though
This is what metal is about. Great songs and awful music videos xd
Wow! Bloody amazing! I was transported to another world! I love Iron Maiden 💖🤘
